Hi
Once development is finished on an ASP.NET site what files need to be sent to the Web server for the site to be taken live and are there any pitfalls I need to look for?
Thanks

Hi
A lot of the code examples are in C#, however it should not be too difficult to convert this to VB.NET as they are both using the same framework and have similar code constructs - it is just a case of changing the syntax to fit.

Dan
Do you mean i can use the C# samples in my Vb.net project?
Im not sure how i can convert the C# samples to VB.NET. Can you tell me how?

he means that you have to find functions in VB.NET that are same functionality as in C#
google it, there are a lot of this stuff
convert c# vb.net

No, this is the right place for questions on ASP.NET. What you are seeing is probably an indication that most people are using C#.

Hi
What I mean is that both C# and VB.NET are using the Microsoft .NET framework. This means they are capable of calling the same functions and only the syntax needs changing to work (in most cases)
so for example
for(index = 0; index < columns.Count; index++)
{
if(m_reader.Name = columns[index]
{
elementString[index] = m_reader.ReadElementString().Replace(",", ":");
}
}
becomes in VB.NET
For index = 0 To columns.Count - 1
If m_reader.Name = columns(index) Then
elementString(index) = m_reader.ReadElementString().Replace(",", ":")
End If
Next
as you can see it is using the same functions and constructs (loops) but the syntax is different

how can i show a message box??in asp.net using c#.

If you are doing a post back you can use code like this:
NOTE you need:
using System.Text;
private void ShowMessageBox(string aMessage)
{
aMessage = aMessage.Replace(vbCrLf, "\\n").Replace("\"", "'");
StringBuilder myScript = new StringBuilder();
myScript.Append("<script>");
myScript.Append(Environment.NewLine);
myScript.Append("alert(\"").Append(aMessage).Append("\");");
myScript.Append(Environment.NewLine);
myScript.Append("</script>");
Page.RegisterStartupScript("TagMessage", myScript.ToString());
}
NOTE in .net 2.0 the call to registerstartupscript has changed.
If you are not doing a post back you have to use javascript.
Hope that helps.
