Is your list control responding to the correct notification message (e.g., NM_RCLICK )?

yes it did... read again
BTW, note that it is a WARNING, not an ERROR.
just do this in your stdafx.h :
<a href="http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/2c8f766e.aspx">#pragma warning(disable: 4996)</a>[<a href="http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/2c8f766e.aspx" target="_blank" title="New Window">^</a>]

You can't solve that problem, Microsoft in their wisdom have decided that in VS2005 to deprecate the function. If you don't know what deprecate means see Wikipedia[^]
You have several choices:
- use VS2005 and put up with the warning - MS are simply trying to discourage you from using the function - they are not stopping you, the code will still work
- use VS2005 and disable the warning - code still works
- use a different compiler that hasn't deprecated the function
- use the alternative recommended function
