What line is causing the exception? Have tried stepping through it with a debugger? It should be evident what is causing the object null exception if you did.

Have tried stepping through it with a debugger? You should see which object is causing the exception and be able to figured it.

Sounds like you have NOT stepped through your code with a debugger. Do that before asking again.

I think they are referring to the objects that are inside the repeater because,I have used a repeater to hold my control, and I can use(capture from textbox, select from dropdown) all control inside my repeater(so when I click Add Entry buttton doesn't add my information inside my table,it gives me that error.
Please help me

Hello,
I have a Web application running on ASP .NET 1.1 / Windows 2003 Server
with IIS 6.0.
We have been noticing our DefaultAppPool crashing occasionally. We
have installed the Debug Diagnostics Toolkit 1.0 and were logging the
IIS Processes. Last Sunday our IIS Crashed again (03/25/2007 7:23PM).
Appreciate your guidance,
Thanks

If you look in the event viewer you should see the reason for the crash. Right click on My Computer then Management then go to the event viewer look in the application log. You should see an entry.
If you don't see an entry, then it might be that your application pool is recycling it self. By default it is set up to recycle every 27 hours or something weird like that. If you go to the properties of your app pool you can see what it is set at. I would suggest you don't recycle every so many minutes, but instead pick a time early in the morning 2am or something and recycle then.
Hope that helps.

Hello Ben,
Thanks for replying.
I could not find any info in event viewer regarding application pool crash.
As you said we are recycling at early hours (ie at 4am). And i dont think this might raise a issue.
But my client is unable to view the default page of the application i.e., whenever he connects to application he gets "Page not found error" and to solve this we use to restart the system. This issue come up 1-2 times a week.
Please reply regarding the same.

So when you say your application pool crashes, it isn't actually stopped, but when you stop and restart the app pool it fixes your site? I would suggest you create a new application pool just for this web site. Just to make sure the problem isn't something else on the default app pool.
Hope that helps.

what is javascript?when it is use?
|
|
|
|

Javascript is client side code that runs in the browers not at the server. There are many uses for javascript, most of them have to do with when you don't want your web page to have to post back to the web server. Instead you write javascript so the code can run on the client side without having to post back to the web server. I think if you did a simple web search (google) you would find more complete information on javascript and its use.

Hi all,
I am building composite control which has 2 expandable properties. But I have problem with DefaultValues of those sub-properties.
Here is scenario:
I set “Red” value for my “Thumbnails-BorderColor” (expandable) property with DefaultValue(typeof(Color), “”) attribute.
In source-view in my control tag there is inner attribute look like this:
<thumbnail bordercolor="Red" height="56px" perpage="3" width="96px">
I run page, my thumbnail border color is red like it supposed to be.
If I change value to nothing (remove “Red” value), now my source-view control tag look like this:
<thumbnail height="56px" perpage="3" width="96px">
(seriazable)
I run the page, my thumbnail border color is STILL red?! If I wait for 2-3 minutes. again run the page there is no color around thumbnail, like it supposed to be when i removed “Red” value initiaily. So I guess this waiting period cleared out ViewState??
However, if I remove DefaultValue attribute, my soruce-view control tag look like this when I remove value:
<thumbnail bordercolor="" height="56px" perpage="3" width="96px">
(it’s not serializable)
this works good when I run the page but I want "serialzable-way"
thanx

I found a problem and solution.
To make sub properties for my control I was referring to this article Server Control Properties Example,
in which property of sub property class don't have "set" accessor, therefore new sub property value cannot be updated so last
value which was persisted in ViewState was used.

Hi guys,
I know how to use the SqlMembershipProvider, and setting up and tying it into the relevant controls is simple enough, it works very nicely in my app.
However I have no idea how to get a handle on the actual fully initialized SqlMembershipProvider or SqlRoleProvider objects to manualy work with them.
I suppose the question is, how do i initialize it from the Config settings?
Cheers chaps

I am using Visual Studio .NET 2003 to develop the application. My issue is that i had to generate a Word Report with password from an ASP.NET web application.
After much try i got the dll Microsoft Word 11.0 Object Library and with the help of which while trying to generate a word document with password from a application it was throwing a runtime exception.I had to imersonate the user as it showed an acces violation.
COMException (0x800a175d): Could not open macro storage.
When performed a search with this, i came to know the necessity of configuring the Word application of the server with DCOMCNFG - as setting the word to be run under interactive user mode etc. But that is very risky as listed in the links,
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q288366/ -- (Explains how to configure with DCOMCNFG)
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/257757/
Can any body tell me how to solve this without using DCOMCNFG ?
The following link tells me that it can also be achieved by saving the
document as XML and manipulating the XML.
http://www.thescripts.com/forum/thread374627.html
Is it possible to set a password while generating with the XMl... i don't think that it is possible but still....
Then how to stream that file to the client ?
If any body could give me any suggestions or links i'll be grateful...!
If anybody comes across any link or any thing please do reply ....
I will be very grateful...
