I'm new in mssql. I was trying various ways, but no luck.
I have two tables "jobs" and "measures".
JOBS fields are:
JOBID JOBNAME MEASURE
1 programming 11
2 corbel 22
MEASURES fields:
ID MEASURE
11 hours
22 lb
The result should be:
1 programming hours
2 corbel lb

Hi,
try the following
Select jobs.JOBID, JOBS.JOBNAME, MEASURES.MEASURE
from JOBS, MEASURES
WHERE JOBS.MEASURE = MEASURES.ID
Mubashir
Every job is a self portrait of the person who did it.

|
|
|
|
SELECT j.jobid, j.jobname, m.measure
FROM Jobs j
INNER JOIN Measures m ON j.measure = m.id

Hi,
I am inserting a new record to a SQL 2005 database table(tClients). I have a Primary Key called iClientID in that I use to bind clients, that is Auto Number.
I want to retrieve the iClientID once I inserted the record, as part of my stored procedure. Here is my insert statement.
<br />
<br />
INSERT INTO tClients(sClientName, sClientAddress, sClientContact, iClientOrder)<br />
VALUES ('Joe Simpson', '3 Green Ave' , 'Mr. R Simpson' , 3)<br />
<br />
|
|
|
|
|
DECLARE @Id INT
INSERT INTO tClients(sClientName, sClientAddress, sClientContact, iClientOrder)
VALUES ('Joe Simpson', '3 Green Ave' , 'Mr. R Simpson' , 3)
SELECT @Id = SCOPE_IDENTITY();

Thanks Colin,
I just have one more question... What is SCOPE_IDENTITY()?

What you asked for. The ID of the most recently inserted row (in this scope).

|
|
|

SCOPE_IDENTITY
Returns the last IDENTITY value inserted into an IDENTITY column in the same scope. A scope is a module -- a stored procedure, trigger, function, or batch.

Returns the last identity value inserted into an identity column in the same scope. A scope is a module: a stored procedure, trigger, function, or batch. Therefore, two statements are in the same scope if they are in the same stored procedure, function, or batch.

Dear All,
I am making web application using Asp.net C#(Visual Studio2005). And Sql server 2000 as a back End.
Actually I am fetching data from other database(named as retailexcel but in same server). I have wriiten a view (in retailexcel database) to get required data from four table of other database. My problem is when I fetch those data(about 40000 to 50000 record) It taking to much time. I tried catch feature of asp.net2.0. Time reduced but not significantly. So I am trying to import those tables to my database (named Inventory) from that retailexcel.
Now problem is every day or two, record of those tables changes. How can I keep update my tables (which are importing from retailexcel)
Please suggest me some idea.
Thanks

Can you schedule a SQL-Server job that runs once a day?

How would I update the field 'filename' in my SQL Server DB so that it replaces all '-' with an '_'? Is that possible?
FOUND IT.

Update FileTable
Set FileName = replace(FileName, '-', '_')

Hi every one,
I installed SQL server 2005 enterprise edition on my pc and I selected SQLEXPRESS name for instance of it .I have a vb program and I can connect to database with below connection string.
SqlCon.ConnectionString = "Driver={SQL Server};Server=ComputeName\SQLEXPRESS;DataBase=DigitalSignature;Trusted_Connection=Yes;"
ComputerName is the name of my Computer and DigitalSignature is the name of my database in sql server.
My problem is :when my pc is connected to network I can connect to database completely but when I disconnect the pc from network I get error .
How can I connect to sql server from an application that both of them(Sql server and Application) are in one computer.I think the connection string is wrong.
If any one knows ,please inform me.
yours sincerely,
Orchid

Why did your ENTERPRISE edition of SQL Server SQLEXPRESS? That makes no sense.

What error? (Why do people insist on writing to a forum to say they have an error, but expect the world to guess what the error message is?! WE ARE NOT TELEPATHIC!)

What makes you think the Connection String is wrong? It was working fine when the network was connected. Doesn't that indicate the connection string is valid?
I'm curious as to why you disconnected the network. SQL Server Enterprise Edition is designed to work in a networked environment.
I'm guessing that you need to go into the "SQL Server Configuration Manager". Go into "SQL Server Network Configuration"-->"Protocols for SQLEXPRESS" And in the right pane there will be a thing marked "Shared Memory". Right-click it and "Enable" it. That might solve your immediate problem.

Hi Guys,
I have a strange problem -
1) I created a dataset using data tables loaded from the SA connection string.
2) Setup these DS's and used them as test stubs with SQL squeries.
3) Created stored procs and pointed the SQL Functions at these instead.
4) Created a new user with just SP Access
5) Set the connection string to use this new user login in the connection
Now, after all this is complete, all references to the origional SA connection string have been removed, all the project Bin folders have been deleted, all the Obj folders have been cleared and the DTA's themselves say that they are using the new connection string, it still loads up using the SA connection.
Additional Info:
This is a seprate DB Library to the web project.
This project is running in Cassini.
I'm spooked. What's the deal?
Cheers
Tris
