In GridView i have used <asp:sqldatasource> for Data access and want to update through a stored procedure i have set the attributes as
UpdateCommand="Cricketers_UpdateRow" UpdateCommandType="storedProcedure"
Now for th stored procedure i want to get the updated parameters through cells of gridview than how can I get these parameters?

Hi All,
I have 3 webforms .First Form have name Textbox and show button when i click show it displaying corresponding names in datagrid with checkboxes when I try to check one particular item then it will navigate to next page for updating the name,Here user should not give the same original(currentname).For that i need to print a message please select different name using javascript How?
It is simple update of name but name should different in two form. i.e should not use same name for updating.

How you are sending the name ? Assign the name in some hidden textbox. Then get the value using javascript for checking.

Can anybody tell me will the session expired based on the time out value of the session if i use state server or sqlserver modes ? if not when the session will expiry in both modes ?? please let me know if anybody knows. Thanks in advance

Hi, i have two user controls. Namely
1.public partial class QuoteCtrl : UserControlBase
2.public partial class ItemsSummaryCtrl : UserControlBase
Now i am writing one method which return boolean value in the first usercontrol
Now my questions is how to make a call from the second user control, to that method which is written in the first user control.
If anybody knows the answer please let me know.

It's not very good practice to have two different user controls reliant on each other. It's better to allow the controlling page to have access to these properties and to pass them to any control that requires them.

Hi
HiddenField Contorl is similar to hidden input type(<input type="hidden" id="hidden1">) in Html.You can use this to store values.
eg:-
Assigning value to HiddenField:-
HiddenField1.Value = "Your Value";
Retriving value from HiddenField:-
Response.Write(HiddenField1.Value);

i am using visual studio 2003
primarily i am experiencing difficulties with the range validator..
i am trying to create a range for a password field !
i have the max value set to 12
and the min set to 6
type = string
this was generating an error at compile time.
i read on another forum that this could be solved by switching the type to integer.. the code now compiles but generates an error regardless as to what is put in.
also i was trying to validate a D.O.B field with a regular expression validator.. but my mind is blow here. im completely lost as, date doesnt seem to exist as a regular expression.
any help much appreciated

For your requirement try to use javascript insted of Range Validator as the Range Validator will not Check the Length.Range Validator checks the Value which u entered in the textbox with the Minimum value and MAximum value.
In your case you are getting Compile time error because whenever type=string then it checks the ASCII values of the Min value and Max Value(Only first Characters) as you entered min value as 6(ASCII value is 54)which is greater than Max value 1(ASCII Value is 49) so it showing compile time error.
So for your requirement you can write a Javascript function to validate that input length.

just a snippet of code that forces a value of between 6 - 12 characters would be greatly appreciated..

Hi, This is very good question. 3 tier means physical separation of the project. The three projects resides on different machines/Single machine.
3 Layered project means logical separation of the project. In this case output exe/DLL can be single.

N-layers of application may reside on the same physical computor(same tier) and the components in each layer communicates with the components of other layer by well defined interfaces.Layered architecture focuses on the grouping of related functionality within an application into distinct layers that are stacked vertically on top of each other.Communication between layers is explicit and loosely coupled.With strict layering, components in one layer can interact only with componentsin the same layer or with components from the layer directly below it.
The main benefits of the layered architectural style are:
Abstraction,Isolation, Manageability, Performance, Reusability, Testability.
N-tiers architectue usually have atleast three separate logical parts,each located on separate physical server.Each tier is responsible with specific functionality.Each tier is completely independent from all other tier, except for those immediately above and below it.Communication between tiers is typically asynchronous in order to support better scalability.
The main benifit of tier achitecture styles are
1.Maintainability. Because each tier is independent of the other tiers, updates or changes can be carried out without affecting the application as a whole.
2.Scalability. Because tiers are based on the deployment of layers, scaling out an application is reasonably straightforward.
3.Flexibility. Because each tier can be managed or scaled independently, flexibility is increased.
4.Availability. Applications can exploit the modular architecture of enabling systems using easily scalable components, which increases availability.
