How can I keep scrollbars in Gridview instead of paging(asp.net2/c#)
|
|

Using scrollbars are not the alternative for paging. Because still your will be very heavy and it will take time in loading.
Anyway if you want to use scrollbar the you can have a look at this[^]. This will give you an idea on how to implement that.

Easiest way is to set AllowPaging="false" which stops it paging (obviously!), then put it inside a div with overflow:scroll style attribute set

Thanks, I have done and I got the scroll bars. But I only need vertical scroll bars.
by doing this both vertical and horizontal scroll bars are coming.

OK....now a quick google would've told you this, but use overflow-x and overflow-y

HI...
I need to prevent user staring multiple sessions.I would also like to have the following things done for that purpose
1)close the user session on page close (also for security reasons)
2)prevent user logging on if he already logged on .
The issue here is if user has been logged in and his browser or system got hanged and need to reopen the browser and will open the login page again then he wont be able to login if i implement the single login for a user at a time. so i need to implement the first one
any suggestion on links are welcome...
thanks in advance

me too interested in this.
But the fact is - you have to catch the browser window unload event and you have to call the required methods/procedures to close the session.
I think, in default, every new browser window will create new session and simultaneously if you close then automatically the session will expire. But this is not related to the custom authentication like login process.
So i am expecting more responses in this topic.

can anybody help me with costumizing the paging mode of gridview so that at the buttom the page numbers would follow this format: << | < 1 2 3 4 5 > | >>
currently the mode dropdown of the paging properties does not support this. i am new to asp.net and do not know how to costumize alot of things out of the properties box yet. thanks in advance.

Hello
I have a PDA application that has been developed using VB 2005 smart device.
The PDA has been designed to access a web service and download data from a database that the web service can access.
However, the user will not know the location of web reference of the web service until after they install the PDA.
So the web reference will have to be configured when the user starts the PDA application. The user might also want to configure the PDA to use another web service so this will have to be configured to change web services.
Before I used VS to add the web reference during development. However, this cannot be done now as only the user will know what web service to connect to.
Is there any method that can be used to add a web reference during the run-time of the PDA application, and change to another web service?
I think the user will enter a url of a web service in a text box. And maybe somehow generate the web reference that is need to connect and use the web methods.
Many thanks for any suggestions,
Steve

It seems like you failed to authenticate server. Consult with your provider to get the SMTP server details.

It depends on the provider who provides server space for your application. They will give the settings. For sending mail you need to ask them the SMTP server details.

Upload all ASPX,ASCX,ASMX,.CONFIG files and dll's in bin. Make sure all the path you have used in your application is not physical path.

After uploading my application when i am trying to open my application error is coming like
