Is there a way to notify the user :
Low disk space (on HDD)

Here is how you do that:
MessageBox.Show("Low disk space (on HDD)")
However, the answer to your question is so trivial, that I guess that you want something other than what you actually asked for. What do you really want?

Use Split function to split the string by "commas".
convert the resultant array into integer and pass them to the function.

One possible problem is the threading model that VB.NET uses, try setting it to STA. Just a stab in the dark.

Sounds to me like your code is broken, when it doesn't build, it will run the last version that built. Are you sure there are no errors ?

Dear Gurus,
I am using Imageviewer OCX control in VB to have overlying images and
then save it to PDF through the control itself.. I am succesful .
But now the problem is when I give these PDF files to users they may
extract it and they should get separate images. not the flattened image.
How to achieve this while pdf generation? Any programming alternative ?
Kindly help.
Thank you,
vj

I'm trying to get two values from my form posted to the next page using PreviousPage.FindControl
1st. Am i missing something here with .NET? I have a simple form with two drop downs on that i want to post to another page. I know about post back, but i really want it to go to the next page. IS there a simpler way?
Isuue
-------
On default.aspx i have a button called id="ButtonAccomm" it has a value of PostBackUrl="~/Accommodation-Hotels-Bed-Breakfast.aspx"
This posts to the desired page.
I'm trying to bind the values of the two drop downs to
a) 2 labels on the page to confirm the values (Called id=DDAccomm and id=DDPrice)
b) A copy of the original form on the next page with the values set to the amounts posted
In the .vb of the next page i have tried this
Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
ShortAccomm.DataBind()
Dim Label1 As New Label
Dim Label2 As New Label
Label1.Text = Me.PreviousPage.FindControl("DDAccomm").ToString
Label2.Text = Me.PreviousPage.FindControl("DDPrice").ToString
End Sub
But it doesn't work. What am i doing wrong?
Thanks in Adv.

Instead of trying to do like this,
use a button without any postback property
and on the button_click event
write something like this:
----------------------------------------------------
Use sessions to store the value of the 2 controls.
Response.Redirect("Page2.aspx")
----------------------------------------------------
In the page load event of the second page:
----------------------------------------------------
Use sessions to retrieve the session values.
----------------------------------------------------

Good idea...
Can i not store the values in session variable anyway..? Even using a postback? Or post on?
|
|
|
|
|
And how do i get the value of th dropdown into a sesion variable?
|
|
|
|
|
Session("myTxt") = Dropdown1.Text ' to assign into session variable
myValue = CType(Session("myTxt"), String) 'to retrieve the session variable

If we set the Postback property to the second page,
the button_click event will not be fired.Hence we cannot assign the
session variables .
I think I am right.

Hi Everyone.
I need to get the top position of a control relative to the form, regardless of which panel it is docked or placed on.
I am finding that the top attribute of a control (in this case a tree view control) returns top values relative to its panel.
Anyone know any magic to fix this?

The Location (Left, Top) is alway s relative to the controls parent container.
To get to the form, you have to follow the Parent property of your control to it's parent contain, and keep following it up until Parent returns nothing. When you find that, your code is looking at the Form. A quick and dirty method to do this would be something like:
Public Shared Function GetTopContainerOfControl(ByRef childControl As Control) As Control
Dim currentControl As Control = c
While (currentControl.Parent IsNot Nothing)
currentControl = currentControl.Parent
End While
Return currentControl
End Function
This quick example doesn't have any error handling and CAN go on forever if there is a mistake in the control parent/child chain as an infinite loop will result. Since this doesn't use recursion, there is no danger of overflowing the stack, not matter how many levels deep a control is.

I tried to follow that article, and I still can't run my dll from Rundll32.
My code (VB.NET):
-----------------
Public Class Class2
<ExportDllAttribute.ExportDll("MSG", Runtime.InteropServices.CallingConvention.Cdecl)> _
Public Sub MSG()
MsgBox("Hello world !!!")
End Sub
End Class
After I compiled the dll into c:\SampleDll.dll I use the command line:
ExportDll c:\SampleDll.dll
(Release mode)
The result was: "Debug: False" in command line.
After that I tried to run my dll in this way:
RunDll32.exe c:\SampleDll.dll ,MSG
The result is system message box saying: "error in c:\sampledll.dll Missing value: MSG"
What am I missing,
Plz. help me.
Thanks,
