Anyone have any ideas why I get a "The data necessary to complete this operation is not yet available." error in IE?
Edit: I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the file not being text.
function http (m, u, d, f)
{
var r = null;
if (window.XMLHttpRequest)
{
r = new XMLHttpRequest();
if (r.overrideMimeType)
{
r.overrideMimeType('text/xml');
}
}
else if (window.ActiveXObject)
{
try
{
r = new ActiveXObject('Msxml2.XMLHTTP');
}
catch(e)
{
try
{
r = new ActiveXObject('Microsoft.XMLHTTP');
}
catch(e){}
}
}
if (r)
{
r.onreadystatechange = function()
{
if (r.readyState == 4)
{
alert(r.readyState);
if (r.status == 200)
{
f(r.responseText);
}
}
};
r.open(m, u, true);
r.setRequestHeader('Connection', 'close');
if (d) r.setRequestHeader('Content-Type', 'application/x-www-form-urlencoded');
r.send(d);
}
}
var df=document.getElementsByTagName("PARAM")[0].value;
http('GET','http://example.net/'+df,'', function(data){alert(data);});

yes, you use a different property to responseText, to get access to the document root node of the XML that you're being returned.
var xml = req.responseXML.documentElement;
This gives you the root node, in an XML DOM document.

Thanks for the reply but by not text I meant some text mixed with a few nulls and some group separators followed by a block of a few hundred capital letters (what I was trying to extract). Anyway ,it works in firefox and I guess thats good enough for me. Now why does everything I write not work in IE.

Sounds suspiciously like a problem with your response headers. Hopefully you have some control over the server sending this response; either way, i'd break out a good HTTP reference and start looking for inconsistencies...

yah i was going to say it sounds very much like something is going wrong with the headers such that the httprequest object thinks it has complete data but doesn't really ... could also be the null values causing a mismatch between what the request is saying it has sent and the data length the client thinks it got

Hi Guys,
How can I save my paragraphs that has tags like , <h>, etc.
By the way, I am using ASP.Net 2.0
Thanks in advance.

You need to check 'ignore HTML tags in this message' then perhaps your question will make sense.
What do you want to save, and where ? Do you just mean you want to type paragraphs and have them render ? HTML issues like this are unaffected by your using ASP.NET. Are you using the p tag ? I can't tell, from your post.

Hi Christian,
I am using ASP.Net 2.0 with AJAX, and I have a textbox web control which was bind to my mssql2005 table Biography. And in my Biography table there's one field there and the fieldtype is "text".
when I copy a paragraph from other window that has different tags... for example "<h>hello</h>... <em>blah blah blah<em>"... and then saved, there's an error.
Error:
"Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: An unknown error occured while processing the request on the server. The status code returned from the server was: 500"
That's the error above. And I just don't know if what are the additional code do I need in order to solve this problem.
Thanks in advance.

What happens when you set a breakpoint in your code and step through the AJAX call ( it creates a whole new page lifecycle of your ASPX )

Actually, when there's no html tag included it will be saved, no problem about that. But, when the html tag will be saved, then the error will appear and it won't saved due to the error.

OK, perhaps the tag needs to be HTML encoded ?

Yup, either tag or special characters, it will produce an error during saving.
If I will save the string value from textbox it will cause an error when tags and/or special characters are included.
I actually searched it also from asp.net forum, and the guys there have the same problem as I do.
I hope microsoft will find a way to solve this problem. And I think it's with the AJAX framework. What do you think?

Probably. I don't use the MS AJAX framework, so I can't say for sure.

Hi Christian,
I already solved my problem regarding the html tag. At the very top of my aspx I added the validaterequest="false" inside the directives, and it is working fine now.
Thanks for the support

I want to send a html mail with multi-language in php.
Some part of mail content is from database. And some part user have to enter.
My database is ok. And Unicode utf-8 is used.
When I am retrieving data from database to my web page is ok. And coming in Russian language,
But when I am using same content to send email, the content comes with Unicode character but not in Russia language
I want mail in Russian language.
output of mail content is ----------------------------------

---------------------------------------------------
my mail code is as follows-------------
$message = "
$mail1_invitationsent $mail2_invitationsent |

| | $mail_contents | | | | $mail4_invitationsent | | $mail5_invitationsent | | |

";
// To send HTML mail, the Content-type header must be set
$headers = 'MIME-Version: 1.0' . "\r\n";
$headers .= 'Content-type: text/html; charset=utf-8' . "\r\n";
$headers .= 'From: xxxxx' . "\r\n";
mail($to, $subject, $message, $headers);
----------------------------- end of code-----------------------
some variables are used to change language
and
$mail_contents is the vatiable of mail contents which is partly from database and partyt from use input.

Maybe you didn't understand when I mentioned to change your HTML header information when you posted this question before.
You are using UTF-8 which is not a Russian character set.
Use iso-8859-5 the Cyrillic character set

I was thinking that, but couldn't remember the exact details + I'm tired so didn't feel like a google

[This is a cross-post. I originally posted in the ASP.NET forum on accident]
Hi Guys,
...We're working with a hierarchical Infragistics UltraWebGrid(just FYI...my issues are not with the grid) and when one of the parent rows is selected, each of the children underneath it is to be selected as well. I have the code to perform this all hammered out, but now I have to deal with the issue of the fact that this is sometimes a long-running process. Infragistics provides their own wait-cursor for several of the grid's functions, but not for this. What I'm trying to do now is something to the effect of:
in the code behind(C#):
DisplayGrid.DisplayLayout.ClientSideEvents.AfterSelectChangeHandler = "SelectBranch('ctl00xContentPlaceHolder1xRemovedEquipmentxuwgDisplay');";
in javascript
function SelectBranch(gridId)
{
document.body.style.cursor = 'wait';
foo(gridId);
document.body.style.cursor = 'default';
}
What is happening is that it is executing 'foo' as it is supposed to, but never resets the cursor to the default cursor
Does anybody know how to get this logical flow to work? Or is this incorrect? What if foo recursively calls 'SelectBranch()'? Does that have any implications?
Welcome my son...Welcome..to the Machine
