You need to use AJAX to trigger and respond to this secondary thread.

Your link should have target="_blank" in it. Then it will open a new browser window.

You want to push a button in one window, and another will refresh ? What is the relationship between the two windows ?

the parameter doesnt have target="_blank" though

you mean it doesn't show up in intellisense ? That's because it's only showing you server tags. Tags it does not recognise, are passed through to the client.

hi buddy,
you can use.. javascript code for this
you can associate a javascript function lets say "OpenWindow()" with your aspx "Button" on page load.
like -
Button.Attributes.Add("Onclick", "OpenWindow();"
and
write javascript function on aspx page..
like
function OpenWindow()
{
window.open('abc.aspx', _blank);
}
it should work for you..
if i want to refresh the page where the button is from the new poped out page what command should i use any ideas?
use this script to refresh the sender page..
function closewindow(){opener.location.reload(); self.close();}
hmm so far i see all the method are in java issit possible to have them written in the code side of the asp.net? in the file.cs file as my web sites is using c# language, because i may need to pass parameter over
you can use page.RegisterClientScriptBlock() in code behind language to use javascript method inside the code
window.open('abc.aspx', _blank); how do i pass some values along to the new browser? like passing parameters
use querystring like window.open('abc.aspx?id=0088', _blank)
id=0088
means the variable is id and the value is 0088 rite??
and on the receiving end abc.aspx how do i get the value??
............................
p.s thx for ur help i didnt realise the c# limitation was so big =X

I recommend that this point that you give up your current project, buy a book on ASP.NET and work through it. It's apparent that you don't really understand what ASP.NET does, or how it works.
Request.QueryString["id"] will return 0088 as a string. You can then use int.TryParse to parse it.

No - all you can do, as has been said, is write your javascript code to the page in C#. C# does not run on the client, javascript does.

If you don't use cookies or a querystring, then your only other option is session state. I have imported session state from asp to ASP.NET before, via a service.

thanks buddy!
but I don't think it would work in Asp.NET code...
actually problem is session state become reset when we switch over to another web application ..

Session state is your only other option, and it can only work if you have something like I had, where both apps are on one server, and a service stores the state between apps.
