Hi,
I need to create a login page in asp.net with password encryption, in order to login into an extranet application which has its own login page that should be hidden from the user. Make the user believe that they are loging into the application through the asp.net login page. Here the extranet application is built using java and is on sharepoint server.
Please provide info, suggestions and examples if possible for the above login page creation.

Hi everybody...
I`m having some problems with a web farm cenario.
The issue is: the ASP.NET create a couple of js files in one server, but when a requisition goes to another server in the web farm the file with the js function doesn`t exist.
To be more especific, I have a LinkButton on my page, and when this link is clicked it fires the 'WebForm_PostBackOptions' (which is 'undefined'sometimes).
Any hints about this problem? A web.config element configuration?
Thans you buddies

One thing you can do is put a value in each web.config for each server like a machine key or some other unique key then set a cookie with this key information to tie each user to that server.
At the very least this will keep the user locked to one server for that visit.
This will largely depend on how your server(s) are configured though.

Hey all,
I have searched all over the internet for this, but haven't found exactly what I am looking for. I am not an expert VB.Net programmer, so bear with me here. I have about 12 text and drop down boxes that will reside on a 'Customer Account Creation Request' form page. An HR rep will fill out the form with the appropriate fields and then click submit. It will then just email IT the contents of the form. My code works and all is well. My only problem is to actually format the email so it isn't just one long line of information. I am half way there, but I can't figure out how to insert the appropriate breaks and formatting. This is probably so simple, but I've never done it before in this manner so I need help! A sample of my code is below:
<code>
Dim Email As New System.Net.Mail.MailMessage( _
"email@email.com", "email@email.com")
Email.IsBodyHtml = True
Email.Subject = "New Account Creation Request"
Email.Body = "A new account was requested by " & txtRequesterFirst.Text & " " & txtRequesterLast.Text & " on " & DateTime.Now.ToString() & ". Employee Name - " & txtFirst.Text & " " & txtMiddle.Text & " " & txtLast.Text
</code>
The email.body line is just on one line, so thats why it might display weird in this post. Could someone point me in the right direction? I basically want each text box to be on its own line in the generated email. For example, the Employee Name part should be on the next line of the email and not alongside the first part of the message.
Thanks!!

You have:
Email.IsBodyHtml = True
So simply insert html <br> tags where you want them, eg:
Email.Body = "A new account was requested by " & txtRequesterFirst.Text & " " & txtRequesterLast.Text & " on " & DateTime.Now.ToString() & ".<br> Employee Name - " & txtFirst.Text & " " & txtMiddle.Text & " " & txtLast.Text
You can add any html you want:- bold, font color etc.
If you want plain text instead set
Email.IsBodyHtml = False
amd insert newlines instead, viz:
Email.Body = "A new account was requested by " & txtRequesterFirst.Text & " " & txtRequesterLast.Text & " on " & DateTime.Now.ToString() & "." & vbCrLf & "Employee Name - " & txtFirst.Text & " " & txtMiddle.Text & " " & txtLast.Text
cheers

Wow that makes me feel inadequate in my coding experience! Haha. Thanks for the quick fix. I could have sworn that I tried inserting HTML tags in my code, but I guess I didn't try it enough.
Thanks Fred!

The only other piece that I would like to add would be the ability for the user to enter their email address in a text box and have the app use that email address to send the email. My code is:
<br />
Email.From.Equals(txtEmail.Text)<br />
This seems to be correct syntax, but .net is just using whatever is set as the credentials in the web.config file. If I remove all credentials and try the anonymous route, would this line of code work? I wanted to get feedback before going on a wild goose chase.
Thanks again!

Not sure, what the vb code is, but here it is in C#.
private void SendEmail()<br />
{<br />
try<br />
{<br />
MailMessage newMail = new MailMessage();<br />
newMail.From=Email.Text;<br />
newMail.To="email@email.com";<br />
newMail.Cc="email@email.com;email2@email.com";<br />
newMail.Subject="User Feedback";<br />
newMail.Body=SubmitBy.Text+" filled out a Web User Feedback Support form.\r\n\r\n"+SubmitBy.Text + " wrote:\r\n"+Comments.Text;<br />
SmtpMail.SmtpServer="000.000.000.000";<br />
SmtpMail.Send(newMail);<br />
}<br />
catch(Exception err)<br />
{<br />
string s = err.Message;<br />
}<br />
<br />
}

Hi all,
I wan`t to send mail with email attachments. My problem is that i wan`t to attach the attachments without saving them on the server.The user selects the file to be attached and the system should add the file as an attachment to the mail. I tried this thing but i gives an error "Invalid attachment" error since the path selected contains blank spaces eg: c:\documents and settings\abc.txt.
pls help ... any help would be appreciated....

Is there any other kind?
I would be surprised if it was spaces causing this error, but you do need to upload the file to the server before it can be attached, of course... if you are concerned about the name, you can always save it with a modified name before attaching it (eg replacing all spaces with underscores)

It is an UserControl, and i've tried to cast the page class in the user control and tried to at a property... But I noticed that you needed namespaces for that and I don't use those

Why don't you pass the value using Session/ QueryString
to pass those values from Default to other page Where you are using USer Control

1. You can add a public property and initialize it from the page initialize method. If you are using property then you can assingn value through html code in the aspx page or dynamically pass value throgh code behind
2. You can use session, application etc.. variables for passing data.

I've tried the first one, didn't work out... I'm now using sessions but is this good for the performance?

I have been told by many people that javascript is the way forward for validating the amount of characters in a field, however i have tried several snippets of java code (that work in an html document) and i cant seem to get them to function alongside my aspx page.
this is proving to be quite a pain as it is putting the breaks on my progression, i need to learn javascript and am doing so bit by bit, but more importantly i need practice with asp.net coding.
this is why i am creating an application, but this is a necessary part of it.
below is the link to the code i have tried..
i have tried substituting the names in all field and cant really see why it wouldnt work.
any help, or code, or anything really would be much appreciate.
and if it is easier by viewing my code let me know and i will post it....
