You are right, I don't!
As you can see from his post if we want to give help right away then we have to make a lot of assumptions! I assumed Win32 (could be LINUX, or any other OS), assembly inside C (could be assembly only, why not?), 386+ code, _asm directive availability, and C-style strings (as oposed to VB strings, for example), and possibly more which I didn't even realize! The alternative would be not to give any help right away.
Anyway, my post still stands as I was giving an example for Win32 which is most comonly used with Intel 386+ processors (I don't think there is any Win32 version that can run on a 286).

Oh yeah. I'm not bashing your post at all. It was just a litle jab at what you mentioned here. The mountain of assumptions we all-to-often have to make to answer what they think is a simple question.

I'm not sure, but you could try looking here: Puppy Linux Forum.
Trinity: Neo... nobody has ever done this before.
Neo: That's why it's going to work.

The boot.ini is just text, aint it? Write it down then. Though I find it funny that you are using the Windows multi-boot mechanism, becazse I find it easier to use GRUB as my boot manager - just restoring it from a Knoppix CD is all it takes (because the config will still be stored on the linux partition and I can just chroot there and install it again.)

Sebastian

Go here.[^]
Download the 2.0 Installer.
Uninstall 1.5.
Run the 2.0 Installer.

Yup. I prefer Uninstall and Fresh Full Uninstall, if that is a desirable option.

I have never seen Firefox's updater work properly. I always download the new version's installer and run it.

It has always worked for me, at least in the German version, with the single exception of the 1.5 -> 2.0 update.

Hi!
I'm working on automating some operations in a Windows Cluster - and needs to know if the Resource types in a cluster is in english on a non-english Windows installation - or if it uses the English names (e.g. "IP Address", "Network Name", "Physical Disk" etc.)
If anybody has a cluster on a non-english Windows installation - I would appriciate if you could tell me if it uses english names for Resource Types - or language specific names.
Thank you in advance
/Michael

Sorry, but isn't that a question Microsoft could answer a hell of a lot faster by mail?

Answer - maybe, but I must say I haven't had much success with my past inqueries to Microsoft. I have never had an answer from Microsoft that I could actually use (and I have made a few over the past 2 years) - although they have been quite technical in nature in contrast to this one.
It is a longshot to make my question here, but it could be that somebody here knows the answer.

I forwarded your question to a colleague of mine and he says:
Yes, everything is fully localized, at least in the German Version ("IP Adresse", "Computername", "Datenträger", etc.)
He usually knows his Windows.

Thank you very much for your reply
> Yes, everything is fully localized
Oh well - then I have to figure out how to detect the resource types in another way than the name.

I am thinking... maybe there is a "localized name" and a "name"? Or maybe a WIN_CLUSTER_RESSOURCE_TYPE_HDD constant or something

What is the company requiring? With Oracle databases, it doesn't matter to me, personally.

We know that X Windows and Networking work seamlessly on all Unix like systems. You issue commends from Workstaion A to B, asking B to perform some tasks and the to send the display back to A or another Workstation C.
Are there any such mechanisms or utilities with Windows?
Best,
Jun

Remote desktop (from MS; can only control XPpro, VistaBusiness, VistaUltimate, and some server flavors) or VNC (open standard, oss and commercial implementations exist; can control any windows and most if not all *nix platforms). Remote desktop has significantly lower bandwidth requirements and CPU needs since it is sending api messages back and forth while VNC is required to send compressed screen captures instead. RealVNC is (was?) the fastest and lowest cpu load implementation, but it's only free for noncommercial usage.

Hi,
I am trying to access microsoft project using Microsoft Project Object Modal 11.0 .... I have used this COMponent (MSProject) successfully using desktop application (C#.Net) .Now that i started using this COMponent in ASP.Net application it started behaving very strange ...
1: using add reference ,I added MSProject Component .
2: I Run the application ,tried creating new instance
MSProject msProj = new MSProject.ApplicationClass();
3: The exception is thrown stating ... "Server Execution Failed"
4: I noticed there was no entry for MSProject.dll in the bin folder, so i copied the dll to bin manually and re-add the reference .
5: For the first time the instance was created successfully and no error reported .
6: In my second attempt to create instance , the same exception was thrown .To my surprise , this time the installation was corrupted .I could'nt open the project file now .
7: Event viewer stated : "Server [some GUID] didnt register with DCom within the required timeout"
any solution to this problem ... ????
