hi,
I am making a program that creates an item in the context menu . Like i am right clicking the folder , then i am getting an item , say the name of my program.and on clicking it , i am getting the window of my program opened. This is working very fine.
Now My question is
The folder , which I am right clicking , can i get it's complete path in my form which is openning on right clicking the item ( appearing in the context menu of that folder)

It sounds like you are creating a shell extension, if so, then yes you can. Just pass the filename that you are clicking to your program (using a "%1" verb), and then read the argument in your program using My.Application.CommandLineArgs .
Trinity: Neo... nobody has ever done this before.
Neo: That's why it's going to work.

Hi ,
can u please tell me how should i sue these terms like "%1 and My.Application.CommandLineArgs ?????
|
|
|
|
|
To get the Command Line Arguments (i.e. a file path passed to your app), you would do something like this:
For Each Arg As String In My.Application.CommandLineArgs
MsgBox("The file is: " & Arg)
Next
And for the shell extensions, see the last section of this article: Common Registry Settings
Trinity: Neo... nobody has ever done this before.
Neo: That's why it's going to work.

If you read the article, then you should know to put the "%1" verb after the path in your shell extension. What exactly are you trying to do with the ContextMenu?
Nilish wrote: For Each Arg As String In My.Application.CommandLineArgs MsgBox("The file is: " & Arg)Next
then it goes out of loop due to length=0
That is because there is no argument being passed to your app.
Trinity: Neo... nobody has ever done this before.
Neo: That's why it's going to work.

One more thing I wanted to tell that if i concatenate the %1 with the exe , i wanted to execute wafter clicking the item in the context menu then i am getting the following error which is appearing in the window .
in the window label there is a complete path the folder i am clicking and the eror message is
Window cannot access the specified file folder or path .You may naot have the appropriate permissions to access it.
i clicked on the folder. Then this error arrised.
i am working on my own machine not even on the remote computer.
if i don;t have the permission then what should i do to get the permission.

Ok, follow the instructions in the article I gave on creating "Shell Menus", that should clear everything up.
If that doesn't help, try this article: VB File Association.
Trinity: Neo... nobody has ever done this before.
Neo: That's why it's going to work.

Noone is going to click on that link and download and run an untrusted .EXE and then just read your mind about what the problem your encountering is.
You have to describe the problem. Stuck with what?

Can u please tell me how u attached ur application with the thread?

If you can't break the problem down into smaller parts and describe those, it's impossible to help you.

Yes, I don't understand what is Recipient's Cellular Carrier
Socheat

|

That would be the company supplying the cell service to the person you're sending the message to.
|
|
|
|

So what can i do next?

Are you ever going to describe the problem?? Do? Do what? I have no idea what the problem is, so how can I, or anyone else, make any kind of recommendation?!
|

Where should i go to find Recipient's Cellular Carrier?
