Thanx Christian for your reply
That is good , but it raises few more quastions , If .NET 1.1 and 2.0 can exist together on the same development machine , what about user machine , can .NET frameworks 1.1 and 2.0 exist on the same machine ? is .NET 1.1 framework services included within .NET 2.0 ? If I have an application compiled under 1.1 can it run directly on a user machine which has .NET 2.0 , and the opposite ?
Also my main quastion regarding DataGrid in C# 2.0 , is it different / better than DataGrid in C# 1.1 , as per my experiance Datagrid in 1.1 is a headache .

Of course it can.

Yes. There are, however, breaking changes[^]. If you try to run a 1.1 app on a machine that has only .NET 2.0, you'll need to read this.
unitecsoft wrote: and the opposite ?
No. If you application uses ANY 2.0 specific functionality, it cannot be run under 1.1.
unitecsoft wrote: Also my main quastion regarding DataGrid in C# 2.0 , is it different / better than DataGrid in C# 1.1 , as per my experiance Datagrid in 1.1 is a headache
The new DataGridView is a completely new grid and blows the old DataGrid right out of the water.

your reply is realy helpfull , let me ask you about crystal reports , is it still supported in VS2005 . I have about 200 reports written in crystal reports 9 under VS2003 , last thing I nead is to recreate them .
Crystal reports are realy powerful , only distribution with the aplication is a bit complicated from the license point of view . is there any reporting system in VS2005 different than crystal reports , and if so , is it better ?

hello!
I have 2 problems with a comboBox and a dataGrid.
The first problem is that when i'm selecting a table from the comboBox it's ok, but when i select the second or the third table it's not very good. I have too many lines and columms remaining from the first selected table...i must clear that table or datagrid.
The second problem ... i want that my selected table fit in the dataGrid.
This is my code:
private void comboBox1_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
alege_tabel = comboBox1.SelectedItem.ToString();
dataSet1.Clear();
SqlCommand sel = new SqlCommand();
sqlDataAdapter1.SelectCommand = sel;
sel.Connection = this.sqlConnection1;
if (alege_tabel == "Oferte")
{
dataSet1.Clear();
sqlDataAdapter1.SelectCommand.CommandText = "select * from Oferte";
sqlDataAdapter1.Fill(dataSet1);
dataGrid1.SetDataBinding(dataSet1, dataSet1.Tables[0].TableName);
}
if (alege_tabel == "Locatie")
{
dataSet1.Clear();
sqlDataAdapter1.SelectCommand.CommandText = "select * from Locatie";
sqlDataAdapter1.Fill(dataSet1);
dataGrid1.SetDataBinding(dataSet1, dataSet1.Tables[0].TableName);
}
if (alege_tabel == "Transport")
{
dataSet1.Clear();
sqlDataAdapter1.SelectCommand.CommandText = "select * from Transport";
sqlDataAdapter1.Fill(dataSet1);
dataGrid1.SetDataBinding(dataSet1, dataSet1.Tables[0].TableName);
}
if (alege_tabel == "Rezervari")
{
dataSet1.Clear();
sqlDataAdapter1.SelectCommand.CommandText = "select * from Rezervari";
sqlDataAdapter1.Fill(dataSet1);
dataGrid1.SetDataBinding(dataSet1, dataSet1.Tables[0].TableName);
}
}

select childfields from childTable where fkField=validValue
|
|
|
|
|
I need to clear my datagrid with a c# command and to fit the table in the datagrid.
When i select a new table tu open, to print the last one that was apear in my datagrid must disapear.

Hey guys,
I was wondering if there's a way to set the width of the columns
in a propertygrid control.
My object, Automobile, has a property, CarLength. The problem is when it displays it in the propertyGrid, only "CarLe" is shown before it is cut off (user has to manually adjust column width to see what the property's name is) while "3" is shown becuase it is small.
help much appreciated!

Hello eveyone,
I have a DataGridView which holds columns such as (FirstName, LastName Email, HomeAddress). I would like to create a filter which filter the data base on the LastName. I would like the filtering happens as soon as the user starts to type in the first text letter in an designated area used for filtering the data. Let's say, once the user types the first letter "K" a list of last names starting with "K" appears. once the user types the second letter "h" the filter result display the lastname starting with "kh" and so on. I am not even sure what this functionality is called! I just called it "Active Filtering".
I was thinking of having a comboBox for the typing area and displaying the result of filtering. I am not sure if this is the right approach.
Can someone be kind enough to tell me how I can get this done and what is the right approach for this. Is the any particulare Controller than I can use for this.
Any information would be appriciated. Thank you very much and have a great day.

//load data in DataTable or DataSet
private void LoadData()
{
this.sqlDataAdapter1.Fill(this.ds_ordres1.Tables["orders"]);<br />
this.dataGridView1.DataSource = this.ds_ordres1.Tables["orders"].DefaultView; }
In TextBox_Changed event handler of Your Search TextBox, write This Code :
private void textBox1_TextChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
//in this example, row filter set on customerID
this.ds_ordres1.Tables["orders"].DefaultView.RowFilter = "customerID like '" + this.textBox1.Text + "%'"; }

The reply posted by hdv212 is correct.
You can also achieve the same by introducing a Binding Source.
--------------
BindingSource myBindingSource = new BindingSource()
private Form1_Load()
{
myBindingSource.DataSource = myDataSet;
myBindingSource.DataMember = "myTableName"; // TableName on the myDataSet
myBindingSource.Filter = "";
myGridView.DataSource = myBindingSource;
}
Now in your TextBox_Changed Event write the following code
{
myBindingSource.Filter = "lastName = " + textBox1.text;
}

So I've got this app that requires the use of a username and password.
They have to be specific ones too though. They have to match the username and password used to log on to the domain.
In all honesty, I do *NOT* want to have to ask for those credentials. I would much prefer simply pass them along.
So here is my question... the function I need to use requires 3 parameters; username, password, and domain.
Is there a way that i could do something like the following?:
login( WindowsUsername, WindowsPassword, WindowsDomain )
I really don't want to have to do any kind of authentication, it'll be done on the server's end. All I want to do is be a passthrough.
Is it possible?
If so, how?
|
|
|
|
|
You won't be able to get the password, unless you create a form to capture it. This would be a way to do it though.
<br />
[DllImport("advapi32.dll", SetLastError = true)]<br />
public static extern bool LogonUser(String lpszUsername, <br />
String lpszDomain, String lpszPassword,<br />
int dwLogonType, int dwLogonProvider, ref IntPtr phToken);<br />
<br />
[DllImport("kernel32.dll", CharSet = CharSet.Auto)]<br />
public extern static bool CloseHandle(IntPtr handle);<br />
<br />
IntPtr tokenHandle = new IntPtr(0);<br />
const int LOGON32_PROVIDER_DEFAULT = 0;<br />
const int LOGON32_LOGON_INTERACTIVE = 3;<br />
<br />
tokenHandle = IntPtr.Zero;<br />
<br />
if(LogonUser(txtName.Text, DomainName, txtPwd.Text,<br />
LOGON32_LOGON_INTERACTIVE, LOGON32_PROVIDER_DEFAULT,<br />
ref tokenHandle))<br />
{<br />
WindowsIdentity WinIdentity = new WindowsIdentity(tokenHandle);<br />
System.Threading.Thread.CurrentPrincipal =<br />
new WindowsPrincipal(WinIdentity);<br />
}<br />
If the user has been authenticated on the domain you will have the WindowsIndentity available. Have you done a search for Single Sign On (SSO)?
only two letters away from being an asset
|
|
|
|
|
Nope, never searched for SSO. And, to be PURELY honest, I've never even heard that term before. On that note, I'm searching for it as we speak...
Although you've got some pretty cool code there; I can see what you are doing with it, but it isn't what I need to do.
Sadly this looks like it would be for a prompt asking the user to enter his/her credentials and then verifies if they are correct.
I do not wish to do this. All I want is to simply use the same credentials from the Windows domain logon and pass it on without verifying or asking for it.
**EDIT**
I searched for SSO, and I think it's a bit too big for this small app. Perhaps in the future if I get promoted to being an actual full-time app developer, then maybe, but for now, WAY too big... But thanks for that insight; it opens my eyes to some other possibilities.

It is impolite to state urgent in your subject line, and outright rude to do so if it is not really something urgent. Let your subject line be something that describes, briefly, your problem.
Please read the message board rules[^]

Hints:
(1) Learn a programming language.
(2) Code a firework animation using the above language.

I recommend c# (but then I'm partial) try this:

CPallini wrote: Code a firework animation using the above language.
You may not even need to learn a programming language to do this and it could be approached from other avenues than programming. Are you wanting to learn programming and think this would be a cool project or do you want to do a fireworks animation and think programming is the right way to approach it? Put this in context and then define what you mean by fireworks animation and exactly what you expect to see when you're done.

Actually I alredy know a bit about programming [^] and I don't need to do a firework animation.
Anyway, thank you for the suggestions.
