I think that only refreshs your desktop icons. What would you want to do this? I am guessing that you could send a windows message but I am not sure which one.

You posted this to me, when you should have posted it to the original question. I checked your link and it only talks about the registery. It doesn't talk about the original question which is refreshing the desktop.

You don't need to put the same question in multiple forums.

I am getting the following error (but only sometimes, and not on the computer where I have developed the application)

The problem is that I can't debug the application on the machines that I get the error on. I don't get the error on the machine where vs 2005 is installed.
I am hoping someone can translate this better than I can to help me identify the problem.
Thanks
Marc

This is just a wild guess, but it looks like you are doing some sort of splash screen. Did you by chance use a splash screen image that came with vs 2005? I would guess that whatever image you are using may need to be added to your solution.
Hope that helps.

I am using a splash screen based on the template in vs 2005. I have substituted my own image, but there may be a variable in the code that is causing the issue. I will check into this and check for errors, as I played with the code generated by the sample splash screen. The image displays correctly on the splash screen, but it was added as resource and not loaded onto the users computer. The error remains quirky as it does not always occur.
Thanks for the advice.

Hello,
I am using VS 2005.
I have a simple report that displays data that is loaded into a dataset.
I have a field called subject. However, if this field has many characters some of them don't get displayed (cut off).
I have checked by viewing if all the text is contained in the database field in sql server 2005. And yes, all the characters are in there.
I have also checked just before the reports loads by getting the data out of the field, and yes, all characters are there.
So i think it must be something in the report to stop it from displaying the characters.
I have set the property of the field to can grow, is there something else i need to set?
Many thanks for any help,
Steve

hi steve,
i m not sure but try this
i think can grow property increase the height of the fields.so u can increase the width of field at design time so your text is fully displayed. also check font size.
Hope this helps

Hi there everyone,
I'm trying to do what is basically a String.Replace but not quite.
I have a string e.g. "{Team}/{Team} Index" and a hashtable of replacement string values, e.g. "Wigan Athletic", "Manchester United".
I need to loop through the hashtable and replace the first occurrence of the substring "{Team}" with "Wigan Athletic", and then on the next iteration replace the substring "{Team}" with "Manchester United".
The problem I've got is (obviously) String.Replace replaces all occurrences of "{Team}" the first time through, and using regex every expression I write seems to select both occurrences.
Is there a way to stop the regex matching after hitting the first match? Or otherwise some method of doing this that I'm just missing?
Any help much appreciated
Thanks,
James

There are several versions of the Regex Replace method available. One allows you to specify the maximum number of replacements to make.

Is this an old question or a new one? Or has your account been hacked?

Looks to me like something went wrong at CodeProject.

Dunno. It showed up in moderation yesterday.

i was declaring the API and got the error
Public Shared Function <DllImport("kernel32")> _
abc(byval str as string)as integer
problem is in <
identifier expected.
|
|
|
|
|
The DllImport attribute has to go on the line before the function declarartion, not in the middle of it...
|
|
|
|
|
it's an api
and the function abc is nothing but i provided as an example.
there is some other function.
|
|
|
|
|
yaa,i know function abc is an example
use this code
<<system.runtime.interopservices.dllimport("kernel32.dll")> _
Public Shared Function abc(ByVal s as string) As Integer
End Function
use following link
http://pinvoke.net/default.aspx/user32.GetWindowLong
Hope this helps
