Is sql express loaded on the PC where this windows service is running? If it is installed is the database you are looking for installed? If the database is installed does the user and password you are using to connect exist with the correct rights for the application? Are you sure your name for the sql server express is correct?
If you are having problems connection with sql server there is a real good chance that there is a problem with the connection string.
If you have loaded the express tools so you can access the database, use the tool and log into sql express as the user. Make sure you can do everything the windows service should be able to do.

I have a website that curently have an admin section with which a user can manage site . I use the cookie name set in web.config file for authenticating the admin user of the site. Now I am gonna add normal user membership other that admin to my site. I have a problem regarding "authentication cookie name" for normal users as I have already used that for admin users. As you now I am not allowed to define another authentication cookie name at folder level.(But application level). So what is your recommendation to this problem ?? Should I use a normal cookie other that the one defined in web.cofig file to authenticate users . I need this . I will appreciate your help . Thanks in advance.

I wanna publish my website on a server. My company has a host server.
I'm using Visual Studio 2005, asp.net 2.0.
I learned that I need to know the username and password of the server, then use the "Build>>Publish Website" option in Visual STudio 2005, then set the target location to : ftp://www.mycompanyserver.com/, then start publishing.
Now what's next, is there anything else that should be done in order to access my website? I mean, how can I access my default web page. Let's say my default web page is : Content.aspx, what's the url exactly that I'll be using to access this page? Will this url be given to me by the server's admin or what??
Please help, it's very urgent

The first thing that should be done is set up the target machine/server and ensure the proper framework version, permissions, etc..
Once the site is provisioned on the box, your ftp info will probably give you access to the sites root (if your publishing a new web site) or to a virtual directory (if your publishing a web app/module) or you may have access to everything. In any event you want to upload your site to the ftp path where the website lives.
The web site is typically accessible via a domain name (which you would need to access it), or an IP or some other network address if it will be an intranet application.
Although your question is simple enough, I would think this information and how to set it up would be common knowledge to a person that managed to build a web site via .Net in the first place though.
Also, if your site does not contain a default/index .htm |.html |.asp | aspx you will either need to configure IIS to make your default page "Content.aspx" or set up a redirect to that page from one of the other "default" pages.
To directly access the page in question, the url might look like:
http://www.somedomain.com/contact.aspx
Another thing, assuming your accessing a DB that is not local, you may need to change your connection string(s) in the web.config once or before the app is deployed.

Hi All
I have another poblem, give me suggestion if u have any idea.
I have a page in which I have a GridView. I used a AccessDataSource control to bind it.
I gave user to facility for updation on any row ( I am using select Button for selection and the data of that row is goes to a new page where user can edit and save and Redirect to same page again).But after returning back, grid is not refreshed means data is updated in table but grid is still showing old data.And when I click on Refresh( Browser's Button) it shows updated value.
So I have to refresh page every time when i update any row.

Hi,
I have a datagrid which holds a dataset of size 2 lakh records. Now each time I click on the new page I have to bind the grid to hold the records corresponding to that page. Currently I am calling a method that does to the database on change of each page and bind it to the grid. Can anyone let me know how to display the records of the current page by using the data taht is already bound to the gird. I mean with out calling the method that runs an SQL query to fetch the data from the database in the page index chnaged event.

:: You can't do anything to change the state of the window to full screen. You can resize the current window to cover the screen or open a new window with a size that covers the screen. The first function is usually disabled in browsers nowadays.
:: You can't use Response.Redirect to do anything other than telling the browser to request a different page for the window/frame that it is currently requesting a page. You have to use client script to do anything that has to do with the appearence of the browser windows.

i am having textboxes inside gridview. My textboxes are coming when we edit icon when label gets converted into textboxes. The required field validators are working but when i put something then also it is not working which is incorrect how can we do ? ???

I'm using asp.net and c#.
I have disabled the controls on the form using javascript on onclientclick of the Button.
But they again are activated when postback occurs when I return "true" because of the same buttonclick.
When I return "false" then only disabled controls are maintained.
But I also want to run the code at codebehind on button
click of the same button to disaplay a popup on some condition. but don't want other controls on the page to be activated.till that poup is not closed.
so how to achieve disabling of the other controls on client side and displaying popup on server side.
Please guide.

I don't really follow this ( how can you have a popup on the client side ), but you can use hidden controls to store values that change on the client side, and retrieve them on the server side to work out what HTML/script to render ( so after postback the control state does not change ).

I don't want to display Popup using javascript but using c#.
It means the code to display popup I'm using will run on server side not on client side.
For this I want postback to be happened on button click event. This is possible if I use "return true;" in my javascript. But when there is postback all the disabled (that I made using javascript on clientclick event of the same button ) controls become enabled.
So how to maintain the state of disability of controls even after postback of the page.
This the problem for me .
Might be clear to you now. Please suggest solution.

You can't do that. A popup has to be opened on the client side.

That's because a new page is loaded. The controls that you did disable doesn't exist any more. If you want any controls in the new page to be disabled, you have to disable them.

My problem is solved by calling the function (to disable controls) on pageload .
But before calling that function I checked one flag's value which is set on server side when buttonclick event occure and some conditionds are fulfilled.

Hi
My requirement is as follows.
I have a web app which is deployed at the head quarters. My clients are branch offices. My database too is deployed centrally. The branch offices are having separate databases deployed at branch offices. When the end user do a transaction using the centrally deployed web app, I want to store the transaction in the local server also. Is this possible by using an activeX control in the web app or Is there any other better solution?

Hi,
I'm searching for a good web reporting tool, a tool which provide dynamic object access at runtime, master detail, grouping, cross tabs, and all the features of the crystal reports ... but not the crystal report because its license is very expensive, and not the sql server reporting service because I want it to work with any datasource like Access, MySql and Sql server of course ... can anyone helps me in this??
