Hi,
I usually derive it from CDialog and rename the CDialog to CDialogBar
and
if you need you can simplify the create() function with

 BOOL CYourDlgBar::Create(CWnd* pParentWnd, UINT nStyle)<br />
{<br />
    return CDialogBar::Create(pParentWnd, IDD, nStyle, IDD);<br />
}<br />

And on your frame window create, dock your dialog bar

 m_yourDlgBarObj.Create(this, //frame instance<br />
		WS_CLIPCHILDREN | WS_CLIPSIBLINGS | WS_CHILD |WS_VISIBLE | //style<br />
		CBRS_BOTTOM|CBRS_TOOLTIPS);<br />
<br />
m_yourDlgBarObj.EnableDocking(CBRS_ALIGN_BOTTOM | CBRS_ALIGN_TOP);<br />
DockControlBar(&m_yourDlgBarObj);<br />

I had a button in the dialog bar . . but its disabled why . . .

It is the property of MFC,
MFC disables controls if the handlers is not available
override OnUpdateCmdUI() this will enable all.
But MFC wants handlers for each control

There was a button & text box. The text box is enabled...
I added some functionality to the buttn just to display hello,..

Now you have your CYourDlgBarClass,
using class wizard add the override OnUpdateCmdUI(), that's all, this will add

virtual void OnUpdateCmdUI(<br />
       IN CFrameWnd* pTarget, <br />
       IN BOOL bDisableIfNoHandler<br />
       );

in your declaration
and

CYourDlgBarClass::OnUpdateCmdUI(<br />

in your implementation
if class wizard found to be not helpful, simply code manually,

this is enough to enable.

for enabling individual controls ,
use
ON_UPDATE_COMMAND_UI(id /* control id*/, memberFxn ) in the message map.

Thanks its working nicely . . . can u plz explain what is happening behind..
1) the UpdateCmdUI was not in Class wizard
2)no code was given inside
CYourDlgBarClass::OnUpdateCmdUI(IN CFrameWnd,IN BOOL)
{

then how it is enabled???

3)What is the IN type

oops a small probs its not coming in order.. i added it after the main tool bar buts its comming before the standard tool bar..

1) No it can be found in class wizard, I donot have issue in VS2005,
2) The default implementation will disable it, we overrided it.
3) IN is simply a empty macro, used just for code readability,
(the parameter is input that is caller donot expect change, there is also OUT macro).

You need to use DockControlBar() with all parameters set to customise the order of docking.

Remove these codes of your program

I think WhiteSky meant to set the icon handles to NULL Smile | :)

into my OnInitDialog method, no use...
app type is a multi document windows application, this is a dialog of it

:->Some software,after you have installed,can open assiociated files just double click it.How to do that or how to write the code.I will be very thankful if somebody give me a little information or some code samples would be better.

Hi,
Simply you need the following information on the system registry,

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.<fileextension> "<yourFriendlyName>"

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\<yourFriendlyName>\Shell\Open\command "<yourApplicationPath>"
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\<yourFriendlyName>\DefaultIcon "<yourApplicationIconPath>"

How to,
1. MFC will do for this using Doc/View Architecture
2. In Win32 you can use registry APIs
3. You can manually edit registry using regedit

1)My application is Dialog based. Then you mean that MFC will not do it for me automatically?
2)I think my application can not open the file directly. It only open the file with its menu item "Open File". Maybe I need to write a main() function to open the file in command line just like Java. But I am not very sure how does this main function really look like.

Hi,
I think your query was to associate the file type with your application so that windows will create your application instance when the file is double clicked.

I hope this link provides coding information for associating file types.

What is your problem, do you want to associate file type or want to get file names from command line.

Correct. So why not just create an SDI project to see what type of .reg file it puts together? Then you'll know exactly what to put in the registry for your dialog-based application.

Hello

In my application, i want to perform some logical operation.Ie "AND" operation, "OR"operation,"Exor" operation..

For example..

Enter value1 :-1011

Enter value2 :-1100.

Answer is

AND :- 1000
OR :- 1111
EXOR :- 0111

Any idea how can i get it..I am trying to Enter binary value as a string but then how to convert string to binary...

Please help me..Any new logic ??

Assuming you need to do that, use atoi to convert.

Take a look at strtol[^]. You can provide 2 as the basis and it will convert your string representing a binary into a long. Then you just perform logical operations on your long (&& for AND, || for OR, for XOR I don't remember what it was but you can make an OR and then invert the result with !).

Use Ctrl+Left/Right to switch messages, Ctrl+Up/Down to switch threads, Ctrl+Shift+Left/Right to switch pages.
