hi virendra,
if you have created the recordset then check for
recordset.state property
if
recordset.state = 1 then connection is open
and if it is '0' then connection is close

Hi,
I think you mean <connection object="">.State property.
For eg:-
dim adocn as new ADODB.Connection
Then we can check whether connection is open or not by adocn.State

|
|
|
|
What do you mean?
I'm purely guessing at what you want, but about the only way to know is to actually TRY the connection and see if it fails.

Is it possible to set the margins of the windows taskbar like media player 11 does when it is in minimze mode. What i mean is, can we have a form sit over the taskbar and not have the handles for the open or minimized windows flow under it? Is this possible.

I have no idea what you're talking about. When you minimize WMP11, you get the option of turning on a ToolBar that a mini-WMP player occupies.
I have no idea what you're talking about when you say:

This is going to require further explaination.

your right. Sorry that was a bit vague. I've since done some research and found that the thing i need is a deskband application. When WMP11 minimizes to its mini toolbar it is using deskband correct? I tried to find vb.net source code for a deskband but there is virtually none, i think i'm gonna have to take that leap and start the move to C#.

That's what it is.

True. Most examples are going to be in C++, others in C#. it's very much possible to do it in VB.NET though. All it would take is translating the C# code.

The method you specify, runs in another thread. The events it fires for progress and for the thread ending, occur in your main thread. This is good, you can use these to handle any UI updates.

There is nothing in the .NET BCL that will do this for you automatically.
Why would need such information anyway?
About the only way I'd see this working is if you put some kind of information logger in every one of your exceptions handlers that called a remote component that logged all of this info. You might want to look into the Exception Handling Application Block[^].

In VB.Net, you can use perfmon.exe utility to get the number of expections.
In VB 6, you would use the errors collection of ADODB connection object and get errors.count

Respected Sirs
i m working in vs.net 2003 and making a windows application in vb.net.
i m not able to drag and drop the datagrid control on my windows form.
error is
"an exception occurred while trying to create an instance of system.windows.forms.datagrid".The exception was "external component has thrown an exception"
maybe my dll for datagrid has been corrupted.
plz suggest some remedy,as my work has been stopped.

First, close your project, then close Visual Studio and restart the machine. When everything comes back up, try opening your project again and dragging the control to your form.
If that doesn't do it, try reinstalling the .NET Framework 1.1[^].

I had this same problem a few months back, I had to reinstall visual studio as well as the framework. Try both. It worked for me.
