Really sucks, after I spend 30 minutes writing a hopefully v educational post, 20 minutes trying to post it as a reply in the comments in an article on ECC cryptography, and neither IE nor Firefox will do it - just seems like the server is not responding to the submission.
Sigh.

It could have been a high load period or a server simply playing up. The fact that you've posted a message here shows it's possible. I'm sorry it was being recalcitrant for you on the article's board.

Because even though you have only been a member for a year, you still must either post 500 messages or write 5 articles.
You can see how CP calculates member levels at the bottom of your member page.

Time and again we encounter little to big debates and discussions on technical topics in Lounge/Soapbox forums inspite of disclaimar/warning texts that stipulate that these forums are purely for non-technical discussions only.
I feel that technical discussions are dropping into Lounge because it alone is hyperlinked separately in the Green Toolbar.
Would a reclassification/defragementation/more-suitable-categorization of links in the 'Green Toolbar' help minimize this problem, if not eliminate it?

I've uploaded some files(zip files) for my article[^]. The size being displayed for them is wrong.
It say's 146kb and 46 kb but actually it's 163kb and 93 kb respectively.
I guess there is a problem with article updation. If I upload same files again this problem occurs. Ironically the size is displayed correctly with the article updation/submission wizard.
Another problem is with the main picture, If I upload a new picture( with same file name) whose height/width is less than the old picture's, it's stretched to the old picture's height/width, the picture looks distorted.
I tried Ctrl + F5 several times but to no avail.

Hi Nibu,
The article submission wizard only updates the sizes the first time around. After that, you have to do it within the article manually.

Just one more issue, on pressing next( Submission wizard step 2 ), the preview window pops up, don't know why. I thought I was being forced to preview, but even after clicking preview it still pops up( on pressing next ), then I had to click back button and then again click on next, this time it worked, but remember I didn't click preview. This happens if I click preview then after previewing click next.
Submission wizard is real nice, except for some minor issues faced due to my ignorance. Good work.

I've experienced this also. What I do is select the picture (you know it is selected by the grab bars). Next click the Insert Picture icon. Finally, delete the old size values. The new values will be added to the graphic.

If I try to open the Zip archives attached to an article (any article and any Zip file), the Unzippers I use do not recognize the Zip file format. I tried 10 different Zip archives downloaded from codeproject, and 3 different Unzippers: WinZip, 7Zip, PKZip, to no avail. I don't think that the 10 Zip archives I chose were all corrupted, so the file format used by codeproject seems to be special?
Well, problem resolved: codeproject's Zip archives do not like download managers, as it seems, like StarDownloader. Up to now, this problem did not occur when I downloaded Zips from other websites using a manager. Somehow the download pieces from codeproject get scrambled.

No idea. It says it is a zip file, but it doesn't open which suggests two possibilities
1. It isn't a zip file at all
2. The file is corrupted.

CodeProject is a Microsoft shop - IIS and AJAX. I would be lead to beleive StarDownload Manager is having issues with the way the files are being served, not the files themselves. Perhaps the files are being served correctly, but StarDownloader Manager is not saving them correctly.
Does StarDownloader Manager have a position on this?

CP Downloads require an active logon session. A few download managers know to share session with the web browser. GetRight does. Mozilla Firefox has an integrated download manager.

When I click the link of 'print', I get a printer-friendly version for the article, it's very useful for my because I print articles often.
But how can I print comments along with the article, in a printer-friendly way?

I've seen that happen when a link uses codeproject.com instead of www.codeproject.com. Since I normally access the site with www.codeproject.com, any time I visit a page with just codeproject.com, that page can't see my cookie from www.codeproject.com, and therefore doesn't know my message board settings.

I must have way too much time on my hands. I think it may bee a good idea to add a 'thumbs down' icon next to the 1 rating, and a 'thumbs up' icon next to the 5. I feel it is a little cleaner than appending 'out of 5'.

Hi All,
I happened to search for 'Walton' (my namesake) in Authors. The suggestion may seem petty, but keep in mind that it is used when one votes to rate an article or Message Board post.
Both accounts are mine. The first is used regularly. The second was used at a time I hosed my password (until Chris got my email address on record fixed so I could rest my password).
