hi all.
i am trying to output two windows using GLUT and for some reasons, only one window can be rendered at a time. when i try to output two windows, the application just flashes and closes immediately. i comment out on or the other window creating (glutCreateWindow) line, it works by outputting one window..
so my question is if it is possible to create two windows simultaneously and if yes, how??

You're welcome!
Did you ever get the Nero QT decoder to work? I couldn't do it on my machine

I canot make CArray work in three dimensions.
Here is the code snippet
definitions
typedef CArray<double,double&> CDataArray; //single
typedef CArray<CDataArray, CDataArray&> CDDataArray; // double
typedef CArray<CDDataArray, CDDataArray&> CDDDataArray; // tripple
CDataArray m_D_Data_Array;
CDDataArray m_DD_Data_Array;
CDDDataArray m_DDD_Data_Array;
size initialization
m_D_Data_Array.SetSize(10,10);
m_DD_Data_Array.SetSize(10,10);
m_DDD_Data_Array.SetSize(10,10);
code
int size = m_D_Data_Array.GetSize(); // size = 10
size = m_DD_Data_Array.GetSize(); // size = 10
size = m_DDD_Data_Array.GetSize(); // size = 10 !!!
m_D_Data_Array.SetAtGrow(itemIndex,data); // pass
m_DD_Data_Array[iSample].SetAtGrow(itemIndex,data); // pass
m_DDD_Data_Array[idataType][iSample].SetAtGrow(itemIndex,data); // fails
It fails in assertion
index < m_size
with size = 0, but my m_DDD_Data_Array.GetSize(); returns correct size of 10 elements.
Am I out of luck with using tripple CArray??
I actually need up to six dimensions, so is it time to learn vectors?
Or am I going to run into same problem?
Thanks for reading.

I am using VS 2005 on Vista and creating a proress bar. The progress bar in the editor has a glassy, fancy look to it, but during runtime, I end up seeing the regular old flat Progress bar.
Is this just in Vista? It bothers me how I am tricked by that. It is not WYSIWYG.
I am porting a large Borland C++ application to MFC and C# and am trying to make cleaner and fancier UI where possible. Perhaps I may end up using .NET to get the nicer look for this dialog.

that link implement oscilloscope from soundcard using Labview.
I think it also work in c++.

So you need to read 16 bit samples at 44.1kHz? I'm not sure what the article's author used but
two ways I know to read data from the soundcard are:
Windows Multimedia Waveform Audio[^]
DirectX - DirectSound[^]

Hi
I will be having an application that has two plugins and loads the dlls from different target paths.However Plugin 1 has vc++ 7.0 code base and for plugin 2 the existing code base will be migrated to visual studio 2005 and additional functionality will be added and development to be continued on the migrated code base .Can different versions of msvcrt70.dll and msvcrt80.dll and similar visual studio dlls exist in the two different target paths. Can the application load these dlls simultaneously(the version of dll from vc7 and other from vc8) or would there be conflicts arising from this design?
Thankyou!
|
|
|
|

The different DLL versions can exist in the same place but you can't use them both at the same
time in an application.
If the plugins are completely independent of the application then it would probably work fine.
You'd have a problem passing MFC objects between the app and a plugin using a different MFC
version though.

I have some extern/global variables and want to localize them to different class which are using them.
In other words I want to move them to different classes, utilizing their functionalities.
Note: These variables are shared by all the classes.
Please suggest me a way of doing it.
Thanks in Advance

I would start with something like
<br />
<br />
class CMyOldGlobals<br />
{<br />
public:<br />
static int AnExampleGlobal;<br />
};<br />
<br />
<br />
int CMyOldGlobals::AnExampleGlobal = DEFAULT_VALUE;<br />
remove the previous extern int AnExampleGlobal and definition of AnExampleGlobal.
#include shared.h wherever you need it and then a run through the compiler will list you all the places where AnExampleGlobal is used as being errors. You'll need to go through each one and change it to
<br />
CMyOldGlobals::AnExampleGlobal;<br />
This will remove all the old externs and global variables but it wont change the semantics of the code at all, the variables are still shared. If you then want to manage the sharing of this data between classes you'll need to do some data hiding and if multi threading is involved they'll all need sychronised access protection.
I hope this helps as a place to start anyway

There's really 3 ways I can think of unless you want to reverse engineer the Excel file format.
1.Embed an Excel sheet as an ActiveX control within your app (doesn't have to be visible) and then access the data in it using the Excel object model and COM. This way Excel still gets to read the file and you don't have to.
2.Export the excel file to a .csv file which is really easy to read, just data and commas, and read that.
3.Use ADO or some similar technology to hide all the SQL stuff from you so it's used but you don't have to worry about it.
I'd go for option 2, unless I wanted to write data back it which case I'd probably be rethinking my design.
The Excel ODBC,OLE/DB drivers are notoriously bad anyway. They can't handle spaces in column names and have 3 different types of 0, numeric 0, empty cell 0 and null string 0, which they seem to mix randomly.
Nothing is exactly what it seems but everything with seems can be unpicked.

You can save any Excel spreadsheet as a Comma Separated Value file just by going to the File menu, Choose Save As and select the CSV file type from the drop down list at the bottom of the SaveAs Dialog. I would recommed using the built in macro recorder to record an Excel Macro while you're doing this and that will give you most of the code you need if you want to automate it.
Nothing is exactly what it seems but everything with seems can be unpicked.

In addition to Matthew's three suggestions, there's also Excel Automation. Excel exposes a COM interface that can be used quite handily.
