Thanks a lot Randor.
I have already referred the link and i am proceeding in the same way.
Actually my physical memory reading works for some other address but not to the addresses that are device driver oriented.
I have just calculated the cdrom.sys driver's load address and tried to read the same from the kernel memory. But it simple shows "FF" in all bytes
Any thoughts....

Hi,
Is there a way to inject parameters (argc and argv) to my application
using the visual studio , and not from the command line?
(I'm using visual studio c++ 2005).

I guess you want to pass command line using VS2005 then goto
Project properties dialog->Configuration properties->Debugging->Command arguments
Enter command line here. Don't worry about argc .

Please post the rest of your code, specially how you try to insert the row.
propably you need also to check the characters of the string before putting it into the DB.
You need to replace all \ with \\ and so on
The easiest way is to store the SQL-Statement into a textfile. Then you copy the statement into
a SQL-Tool, there you get all Error-Information do you need to find the error
( IF the error comes from a SQL-Syntax)

The easiest approach is to use pre-recorded phonems. This means:
1. Read the text to be spoken.
2. Analyse and split the text into phonems.
3. Determine the correct pronounciation, emphasis and state for each phonem.
4. Mix the phonems into a single sound stream in the correct order and with the correct spacing/silences.
5. Play the sound file.
You might be able to cover some variations by applying audio filters to prerecorded sound-files (silencing, changes in pitch and tempo, etc), so the number of recordings necessary might be reduced to a few thousand.
Now, apart from the Analysis, the most time-consuming part is the recording and splitting of the pre-recorded phonems. You might want to hire a sound-recording studio and a professional speaker for this purpose.
If you are planning to not use pre-recorded phonems, but to generate the speech "on the fly": good luck, until you are a linguist and can describe language professionally, plus reproduce the certain sounds with algorithms. I have no advice for that.
Cheers,
Sebastian

I have a program that displays a dialog box with a series of buttons and a text box for messages. When I select one of the buttons it creates an instance of a module that interfaces to some USB tools. Sometimes the work done by this interface module can take sometime to complete and I would like the interface module to update the text box on the dialog box. Is there an easy way to do this? I am using VC++ 6.0.

Hi,
you can set a control variable associated with the control you want to update, and then access them through a pointer to the window/dialog that has the ownership of those controls.
As example (In one of my programms):
Form3 has some buttons (m_cbBut1, m_cbBut2) and Form2 has a graphic (m_gGraph1). In Form3 I have a pointer to the Form2 (CFormView* m_pForm2).
When I use some of the buttons I put in the message OnButtonXClick something like:
OnClick ()
{
m_pForm2->m_gGraph1->Update ();
m_pForm2->m_cbBut1F2->ShowWindow (FALSE);
return;
}
Greetings.

How did you arrive with m_pForm2? I am using Dialog instead of Form, would that make a difference? I can not seem to get my control variables to show up.

hi,
have a CClass* (of the class where u have to update) as a dialog box member.
Before calling DoModal update this pointer and rest handle with the pointer.
Try it.Lets see .
Have a nice day

I have made it by using the View List of CDocument, because the form is connected to the document through a pDocTemplate. But the principe is the same.
You can take a pointer to your dialog, by taking the handler of the window that contains the dialog in you OnInitDialog and recasting it to a CDialog*...
Or another possibility is to use the moment you create the dialog to take the pointer.
For example:
//Instead of this...
CDialog newDlg;
int nAnswer = newDlg.DoModal ();
//...
//
//Use this
//
CDialog* m_pOpenedDialog; //Variable to get the connection to the dialog
CDialog* newDlg;
//here send the pointer to a variable in the other window to connect with
m_pOpenedDialog = newDlg;
int nAnswer = newDlg->DoModal ();
Greetings.

Maybe I am not explaining this correctly or do not not understand your solution. I will try to explain with example:
When I click on a button in my main form (CUsbDlg) it run the following:
void CUsbDlg::OnFormatBlock0()
{
CUsbIo cUsb;
//Setup the usb communication (load the bix file)
if(!cUsb.CommunicationSetup())
The problem is that I need cUsb to update a Static text box on the CUsbDlg form. There are items that happen within the CommunicationSetup that may take some time. I need to let the user know where we are in the process.

Ok, so what's the problem? One way to achieve what you want is to have the CUsbIo class post messages back to CUsbDlg . In the handler for those messages, update the static controls.

Hello all,
I am trying to read excel file through my code.i have used CRecordSet class for that, but when i m trying to use Open function and passing null in place of sql; statement is give abort error dbcore.cpp. How to solve it....
can anybody please help me in this
Thanks in advance

I was trying in this example only. There is a open function in this example
which opens the connection
m_sSql.Format("SELECT * FROM [%s$A1:IV65536]", m_sSheetName);
try
{
m_rSheet->Open(CRecordset::forwardOnly, m_sSql, CRecordset::readOnly);
}
here in try block it passes m_sSql (sql command).
when i pass NULL instead of sql command it gives abort error.
Acutally i m trying to read my excel sheet without using sql command...
