In C++, call GetLogicalDrives or GetLogicalDriveStrings to find out the drive letters that are in use. You can then use GetDriveFreeSpaceEx to find out how much disk space is free.
A complication is that in Windows 2000 and later, a volume can be mounted below another path and may not have a separate drive letter. If you decide to handle this, use FindFirstVolumeMountPoint etc.
From C# and VB, if using .NET 2.0, use System.IO.DriveInfo.GetDrives to find out the drives available, and the properties of the returned DriveInfo objects to determine the free space available. For .NET 1.x, you have to either P/Invoke the C++ APIs mentioned above, or use WMI via the System.Management namespace to look for Win32_LogicalDisk objects.

Occasionally while running a game the system freezes up for about ten seconds, then makes this horrible skipping, buzzing sound for about five seconds, and then resumes running again. Sometimes it happens every ten minutes or so, other times it happens constantly and the game is unplayable. I thought it was a software problem originally, like maybe the game wasn't installed right, but it's happening on every game I have, particularly 3D games. So I'm assuming it's my GeForce card that's the culprit.
I've upated the GeForce drivers and DirectX and reinstalled the games in question. I'm pretty sure it's a hardware problem. Someone I talked to suggested the powersupply might be failing, not getting enough juice to the graphics card, but wouldn't that just shut the whole system down? The only other option is a conflict with certain drivers working together somehow. Maybe my graphics card doesn't like my sound card or something.
I'm just wondering if this has happened to others, and what they did to fix it. Thanks for your help, folks.

I'm assuming that it's not just your drive spinning faster, which usually happens during rapid file access and playing games. So it may just be a bad drive. My CD-Drive acts up occasionally and does the same thing, but it runs fine otherwise. If it's not slowing anything down or causing problems, then it's probably no big deal. But don't take a chance. Try running a hard drive diagnostic tool (one is included with your BIOS), and then see if there's anything wrong.

Yes, it would cause the system to crash and other hardware to act up also.

If the measures suggested before do not fix the problem, have an electrician measure your mains. The problems might be related to brownouts or other voltage or waveform problems.
If you don't want to pay an electrician, try to rent a dual-conversion UPS (or maybe another true-online UPS design) and see if the problem persists.
Other than that, check your hardware for signs of failure (blown capacitors, cracks, visible tension on PCBs).

Hi..
I have the MCP certificate in developing asp.net using visual C#.In my university I studied the Java as an object oriented language only(without learning how to make business project that could be needed by a company).I have a desire to learn USB port programming and mobile programming.
May you learn me how to find trusted training centers for each of the fields I mentioned above so I can reach the second level in these fields.

Microsoft doesn't offer any courses on USB driver development. This kernel level drivers are something you're going to have to learn on your own or through a third party.
All you have to do is Google for "windows driver development course".

Pour water onto the motherboard and note the color of the sparks. red=AGP, blue (and sometimes green) = PCIe.

The only thing I would say is if you must have Vista, go for Ultimate, the rest are all handicapped in one way or another. Most people would say go for as much as you can afford on the processor and memory front. It'll be too small and too slow in 3 years whatever you get 
Nothing is exactly what it seems but everything with seems can be unpicked.

unless you need domain support and mediacenter ultimate is essentially a ripoff. The only thing it has of potential value to a home user is remote desktop, and unless you're going to be conntrolling it that was on a daily basis, VNC is good enough and available in free incarnations.

1 - With the amount of memory Vista can use to preload applications into its cache, more memory would definitely be a good thing. People have had good reports with x64 and 4 GB.
2 - No.
3 - The Q6600 is a great processor and the price, at this point in time, is quite decent. If you're about to purchase the computer right away, I don't think you could go wrong with it, but I have heard that big price cuts are expected soon.
