Javascript intellisense in practically non-existent in visual studio, personally I use Aptana for all my JS/CSS development.
My fault again that it doesn't work, using ID.attribute won't work you need a reference to the DOM element via getElementById. Try this:
<script type="text/javascript"><br />
<br />
<!--
window.onload = function()<br />
{<br />
document.getElementById('<%= hdnLocalDate.ClientID %>').value = new Date().toString("DD/MM/YYYY");<br />
}<br />
<br />
</script>

The Code for the Above:
<title>Untitled Document
function frmSubmit() {
if( (document.get_quote.query.value).replace(/^\s+/g,'').replace(/\s+$/g,'')!="" && (document.get_quote.query.value).replace('Company name / code, MF name','')!="")
document.get_quote.submit();
}

That my friend is what we call Tag Soup. Try seperating out style from content, using more semantic markup (ditch the tables) with better use of CSS. Then I might be able to tell head from tail whats going on there. Oh and while your at it, why not use some progressive enhancement techniques to add the onclick handlers.

How to handle bookmarks while using Ajax?
|
|
|
|
|
What do the two have to do with each other ? IF you mean, how to bookmark the state of a page after it's been changed by AJAX, you can't, unless it's possible to store a URL using javascript, and you use query string parameters to store/restore that state.

Hello,
I am a newbie to ASP.Net. I created my first web application using ASP.Net.
The project compiles and runs perfectly from my local machine.
I did a copy website from my local application onto the web server.
Now, when I open the server website on the VS Expresss Edition, and build it. I get Errors that says:
Error 1 Request for the permission of type 'System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed. \\<webservername>\wwwroot\<location>\Form.aspx 396
Error 107 Element 'CalendarExtender' is not a known element. This can occur if there is a compilation error in the Web site. \\<webservername>\wwwroot\<location>\Form.aspx 501 36 \\<webservername>\wwwroot\<location>\
I don't know what is causing this problem.
When I run the website on the IE browser, I get a different error that says:
Configuration Error

You're asking the wrong question. AJAX will just work on any web server. However, if you used a library to get AJAX controls, then those controls, that library, needs to be installed on the server, obviously.

You need to have the ASP.NET Ajax Extensions installed on the web server and a reference to the AjaxControlToolkit in the bin folder of the website (only if your actually using the toolkit of course, but it looks like you are).
|
|
|
|
|
Thank you for your response. I had our web server admin install "AJAX EXTENSIONS" download from the ajax.asp.net website.
Also, downloaded the AJAX control toolkit. Unzipped in the folder under Program Files/Microsoft ASP.Net
\\webserver\c$\Program Files\Microsoft ASP.NET\ASP.NET 2.0 AJAX Extensions
Then, I opened the web site on my local machine and when I try to build it. It gives me these errors again:
Error 1 Element 'CalendarExtender' is not a known element. This can occur if there is a compilation error in the Web site.
\\webserver\wwwroot\webforms\Form.aspx 396 30
\\webserver\wwwroot\webforms\
Error 7 Request for the permission of type 'System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.
\\webserver\wwwroot\webforms\Form.aspx 396
Please help as I am clueless on how to make these errors go away.
Appreciate your input.
Regards,
Rekha.

I'm pretty sure there are detailed instructions on the ajax.asp.net website for the toolkit, but heres a quick heads up first - you have to reference the toolkit assembly in your website. Then when you build the site it will add the assembly to your bin folder.
How did you create the site in the first place? If you use one of the templates with the ajax extension this should all of been done for you.

I don't see a section for Web deployment so I choose this section as I think it's closest to my issue.
I created my web site using VS 2005. According to my SA (admin) he said our web server is FrontPage 2002 ready. I see that the following files are in our directory (the directory that I will publish my web site to using the Remote option in VS 2005):
_private
_vti_cnf
_vti_log
_vti_pvt
_vti_script
images
_vti_inf.html
default.htm
postinfo.html
When I click on the Build menu then "Publish Web Site" I see that the web site get Pre-Compile but I get the following error:
"Unable to create the Web 'http://www-cbs-a01/IDSAccess'. The Web server does not appear to have the FrontPage server extensions installed.
Error: Unable to create the Web 'http://www-cbs-a01/IDSAccess'. The Web server does not appear to have the FrontPage server extensions installed."
Does anybody know what is going on? My SA is out on medical leave for about two months and I don't know why I am getting this error from VS 2005. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Don

I'm debugging a home brew AJAX application using FireBug. I use the code below to dynamically assign an 'onblur' handler for cells in a table body output by my Repeater. My problem is that my console is filled with the definition of the handler, not just its name. I would like to just output the name.
eval(oHourlyRate+".onblur = ajax_update_Employee_Rates");
console.info(oHourlyRate+".onblur: %s", eval(oHourlyRate+".onblur"));
eval(oHourlyCost+".onblur = ajax_update_Employee_Rates");
console.info(oHourlyCost+".onblur: %s", eval(oHourlyCost+".onblur"));
|
|
|
|
|
It's not answering your question, but you should be able to assign a handler with an assignment (getting rid of the nasty eval and making the problem easier to read):
oHourlyRates.onblur = yourfunction;
|
|
|
|
|
It isn't but, thanks for the advice anyway. However, the reason I use eval is because the control being assigned the event handler , i.e. an input, is obtained by dereferencing a DetailRow variable, and indexing cells within that row, e.g.
oHourlyRate = "DetailRow.cells[2].childNodes[0]"
Then I use eval to get the actual object denoted by the expression
oHourlyRate + ".onblur"

hi i am just tryin to get a total for 4 textboxes on a webpage but when i use the following code to add all the vales together they are concatenated like a string and not numbers any help wud be appreciated
Thanks in advance
Tim
window.onload = initAll;
function initAll()
{
document.getElementById("technicalScore1"). onblur = GetTechincalTotal;
document.getElementById("technicalScore2"). onblur = GetTechincalTotal;
document.getElementById("technicalScore3"). onblur = GetTechincalTotal;
document.getElementById("technicalScore4"). onblur = GetTechincalTotal;
}
function GetTechincalTotal()
{
var total = 2;
total += document.getElementById("technicalScore1"). value;
total += document.getElementById("technicalScore2"). value;
total += document.getElementById("technicalScore3"). value;
total += document.getElementById("technicalScore4"). value;
document.getElementById("technicalScoreTotal"). innerText = total;
}
|
|
|
|
|
by default value picks as string.
you will have to pasre it to integer using parseInt.
parseInt("document.getElementById('technicalScore1'). value",10)

try this:
total += (document.getElementById("technicalScore1").value * 1);
The multiplication will force it to be an int and not a string. I assume you stop the user from entering non numbers ?
