As I stated, I think it's a bug in handling this keypress by .NET framework. It considers Ctrl + Shift + F4 as Ctrl + F4, which is wrong. My solution preserves the standard function of those keys ...

Hi all,
currently i am working on visual sutdio 2003 with .net framework 1.1,2
now i am thinking to move to .net framework 3 and visual studio 2005
does this affect my application should i do any special changes except of the installation ?
does upgrading my solution on VS 2003 to VS 2005 affect any thing other than the solution itself ?
kindly tell me about any effects that could happen due to this movement .
thanks

You shouldn't have any problems, except perhaps if you upgrade an existing ASP.NET app. Nothing should be insurmountable though.

ASP.NET 2.0 is laid out very differently to 1.1

Is there an easy way to assign a name to an already existing DataSet? I have code which I should not change that returns unnamed datasets, and these I add to a DataSet. The data binding scenario I'm using requires me to give names of DataTables in the DataSet. The Name property is read only on a DataTable.

DataTables don't have a Name property, and TableName isn't read only. What am I missing?

It's what I was missing, thanks.

Yes they do. Well, kind of. When you create a new DataTable object, you have the option of giving it name, but only in the constructor of the DT.
DataTable dt = new DataTable("Customers");
There is no Name property, but there is. If the DT is added to a DataSet's Tables collection, you can get at the table by index using the table name, or index number.
DataSet customerOrders = new DataSet();
customerOrders.Add(customers);
DataTable c = customerOrders.Tables["Customers"];
|
|
|
|
|
Is that different from .TableName ?
|
|
|

Oh my God! I feel like an idiot!:->
So much for consistancy using the Name property through out the BCL!
|
|
|
|
|
My apologies, I meant; "Is that not the value that is accessed by the .TableName property?"
But, yes, increased consistency would be good.

Yep, it is.

Hello,
I am using an updater application block to download a new version.
On my server I have setup this file structure.
Northwind/1.0.0.0
I have a new versions in the northwind directory. e.g. 1.0.0.0, 2.0.0.0, 3.0.0.0 etc.
However, the problem is when i change the file structure to like this 1.0.0.1 or 1.0.0.2.
I get this error in the updaterLog:<br />
[BITSDownloader] : <br />
The BITS service returned an error for the job with the ID '57e5dfaa-4f6e-4043-ba5a-84544133b16b'; <br />
the job's name and description are 'BITS_Files_Download_Job' and 'BITS_Files_Download_Job'. <br />
The BITS service error message for this job is <br />
'The requested URL does not exist on the server.
Many thanks for any advice,
Steve

Hi all,
Problem
---------
Im having a big issue when running a .net 2.0 exe developed in vb.net using vs 2005, from a "unc network share" that connects to a database on that server where the share resides on i get an error when executing a sql command. (SQL 2000 db)
Ive checked the following.
---------------------------------------------
1) The folder as full access rights.
2) The connection string connects fine from my local pc as it has the connection to the db server.
3) im not using code access security when running the code.
Thank you in advance.

Hi,
Is there a way to connect to VPN network (connection is already made) but I need my application to be able to connect to VPN network by user action instead of having user to go trough network connections to connect to it. And also if there is a way knowing if we are connected to VPN or not. I have saw some code doing connection by calling rasphone.exe switch but then we don`t have connection status.
Thanks,
Ivan.

Once the VPN session is esatblished, it's just like your machine was connected to the target network directly.

This is not a good idea. There are various "dailers" that will start a VPN connection, but none of them have a common API you use use. You'd have to rely on the user telling your software which VPN software they're using and which version, and supply code to interact with each VPN client you want to support.

The same way they are deployed on their current servers?
You really have to give a much clearer explanation of what you want to do.

How do you put DLL and BLL in different servers?

Hello,
VS 2005
I have downloaded the Enterprise Library May 3.1.
I run the Enterprise Library Configuration and create a new application. I right click on the new application and I should see an option to add the "Updater Application Block Configuration".
I am trying to create a self-updating program and have been following this article on code project.
http://www.codeproject.com/csharp/VanillaUpdaterBlock.asp?df=100&forumid=171427
Can anyone please explain why I don't have the updater Application Block configuration?
Many thanks for any help,
Steve

Don't cross post. You've already been answered in the C# forum.
No, there is NOTHING in the .NET Framework or Garbage Collector that can compensate for a memory leak in an unmanaged code component.
