the DLL is both in my project's /bin and /app_code directory and I receive this message.
Compiler Error Message: CS0103: The name 'Sel' does not exist in the current context.

I solved it, but was wondering If I can change the location of the DLLs, perhaps more local. I had to go up to the root and place my bin folder there. Can I put it in my project folder somehow?

Assuming this an assembly from another project, or third party, you need to add a reference to it in your application. That's all it should take.

Am new .vb.net, but i made it to the end, i understand part. in vb6 the Package and Deployment Wizard did everything for you, package and make setup files and there you go it can be setup. i know here you supposed to install .Net framework in the system that you going to install the Application. but cant you include the .Net in your Application to be installed automatically if its not installed? , cant it install SQlclient if its not installed,. mybe i have read wrong Articles. i have googled the Deployment, but most words being mentioned are "Deplayment is Simpler in Visual Studio.Net than in the Ealier version". i dont bealive until i experince that. Please help me with Deployment or point to a Step by Step Article that Best Explain the Deployment. am using VS2003

I don't have it in front of me, so i can't tell you for certain, but I do believe there was a way to install the .NET Framework with your app.
I'm not sure on SQLClient....never used it.
If nothing else, Microsoft's site has a guide on how to deploy the .NET Framework.
Sorry I can't post a link, hope it helps anyhow.

Hi All,
I want to display some data in tree format.
I must be able to populate this tree using a dataset from a Select statement.
The child nodes must have checkbox against each other. This must be checked on/off depending upon the Boolean value in the table.
After populating the tree, when the user checks/uncheck the checkbox in the child nodes, it must update the table.
Can anybody suggest some way to do this? Is there any asp control to do this effectively?
Thanks

I suggest using a repeater. You'll need two dataTables in your dataset parent and child. In the repeater you can use Div tags or HTML Tables to get the display you want. Then use a CheckBoxList in the item template. Use the repeaters OnItemDataBound event to populate your check box list.

Yes but System.data dll will get added by deafult so try with different dll that is not present already there

Are you able to see bin folder in that you can see all your references
Yes in the same way right click the dll in solution Explorer and delete it that will get removed from your project
I think you know all but just making some fun out here

Sandeep,
Thanks pal. I'm not joking.
First of all there was not Bin folder in my sample project. Then created it by right click on the project in solution explorer and in that Add Asp.net Folder and Click Bin. It created Bin folder.
Then i tried to add system.data dll it is added but i could not find them in Bin. But then i added some other dll than base system dlls like example.dll. i could see it on Bin Dll.
Then where can i find that system.data dll in my project. how can i remove that. This is what i need. sorry for interrupting you.
P.S
I'm working on VS 2005
Thanks in advance

VS 2005 will not show bin folder by default you can see it by adding it or adding a new reference.
dhanabalanr wrote: tried to add system.data dll it is added but i could not find them in Bin.
Beacuse By deafult it is in your application
Wehn you craete a web application by default namespaces that get added are
sing System;
using System.Data;
using System.Configuration;
using System.Web;
using System.Web.Security;
using System.Web.UI;
using System.Web.UI.WebControls;
using System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts;
using System.Web.UI.HtmlControls;
dhanabalanr wrote: where can i find that system.data dll in my project. how can i remove that.
All the Deafult namespace or DOT NEt references not added in the namespace as they are present in Framework CLR knows these dll Only the DLL that CLR don't know i.e not are in the Framework are to be there in bin folder
If you don't want System.Data namespace in yor application just remove the it from your .cs file ............
If you add a COM dll ot other prject dll that will be added in Bin folder as seperate dll.
I think you should read a book CLR via C# by Jeffrey Richter
Thanks and Regards

Hi
How to skip the process of the creation of assembly files in dot net? is there a way that we can directly create the .exe files so that the compilation process can become faster.

Assembly will get created when you compile your project...
CLR at run time converts IL present in the Assembly into native CPU instructions at run time
So do you want to ask to create native code directly instead of IL ?
< Added>
Assmebly contains Metadata, Manifest,other resources, IL ,PE header,CLR header
which are required to run your application
Thanks and Regards
