No, I am not the moderator. I am a regular member just like you. I try to share my little knowledge with others. I am a Systems Analyst at Ford Motor Company but I have a M.A. in Linguistics. In the late 60's, I learned Fortran in high school, and I have taken a few college courses in programming. I learned BASIC and C in the eighties since I worked at an university and the classes were free. However, I learned C++ on my own in the early 90's.

As I search the web looking for programming information, I run into some of these sites and just bookmark them for future reference. Anyway, learning how to program is less than half the battle. You also need to know the environment you are programming, and how to effectively apply your programming knowledge to manipulate that environment to your advantage. If you can, try to find others who are interested in learning C++ and try to create a useful application. You may fail at doing this but you learn from your failure and learn some collaboration skills at the same time.
