Magi,
If you have your controls placed at the design time itself and you are trying to make visible false, as you said you would face spacing problems!
The solution based on how many non-zero values you are getting you got to create your controls dynamically.

Hi all,
For a website to support MultiLanguages, I would like to know which of the following
approaches would be better.
1.Creating ResourceFiles specific to each culture(Language)[Having Separate Satellite Assembly].
2.Maintaining Separate XML File for each language.
My Questions:
1. Will the performance of the application be affected with resource file Implementation?
2.Will it be a problem for maintaining the XML Files if we have data specific websites?
Any valuable suggestions or links for reference appreciated.
Thank you,
Regards,
Deepa

Hello
It depends on the number of pages you have in the site. If you have very less number of pages,then you can open each pages and look for the search criteria. This method won't be helpful if you have many pages in the website. In this scenario you can maintain an index table which contains all your site contents. Create an ASP page that opens and stores all your site text in a table. Schedule this page to run in particular intervals. When searching , search in this index table. This method will be faster.

Hello Everyone~!
This is the code I use to create the session on MemberPage1:
//The textbox1 is the username. I create it as a session to pass to other page.
Session("Username") = TextBox1.Text
Response.Redirect("MemberPage2.aspx")
This is the code I use on another page MemberPage2:
Dim Username As String
Label3.Text = "Welcome " & Session("Username") & ""
//I want to test it with displaying a welcome follow by username.
But the above code doesn't work.The Session remains null.I'm beginner in ASP.NET with VB backed code. Anyone can tell me the error or any other solution?
Thank you~!

I am working on a search page. It uses a datagrid. I search for a state. I get back 6700 rows. Then I search for city and state. I get page cannot be displayed. I search for a city. I get back 295 rows. Then I search for city and state. It works fine. Has anyone seen this behavior before?

You need to post better error information and possibly code.

I tried debugging the code in the code behind. It never breaks. There is no error message besides going to page cannot be displayed.

Perhaps it's timing out ?

It uses an xml file for its sql quiries and log4net for logging. I am thinking the datagrid can't handle so many records on a postback. Maybe, if I were to provide paging to the datagrid. It may not even be the datagrid.

I have a question regarding the licensing of the code available on this website.
I am working on an internal tool for a company and there was some code that I'd like to use for building a Tree in ASP .net. However since my team is really strict about licensing, I was wondering if I can get some information regarding it.
Thanks

My understanding when I submit code here has always been that it's 100% free to use. Your best bet is probably to ask the author, as the articles are all submitted by individuals who mostly have no other affiliation with the site. You do that by asking on the forum for the article, although I think I saw that you did that earlier already ?

I really appreciate your help with:
I want to pass the an object (or value) from server side (page behind code) to client side (javascript in aspx page) in vb.net.
thanks for your help

Don,
I am not clear with your question. My apl for this. Could you please explain it? May be i'll be able to help you.

The way to do this is to insert it into a script, something like
string script = "var myVar = '" + myControl.ClientID + "';";
RegisterClientScriptBlock(script);
or in your aspx
var myVar = '<%#myControl.ClientID%>';"
In the first case, you need to add a script block to the string, top and bottom, and in the second, you need to put it in a script block. You can pass any value you can turn into a string, I'm just illustrating using a control's client side id, as that's the value I find is mostly often needed, for UI or AJAX stuff on the client side.

Does the LoadComplete event get skipped for User Controls? I've hit this issue and worked around it for the most part but now it's just plain getting annoying. Is there an equivalent event for user controls?
Thanks,

Hi
I am trying to create a datagrid with controls bound to each records column, I have made the following declaration for the button
<asp:GridView ID="dataGrid1" runat="server" DataKeyNames="id" >
<Columns>
<asp:ButtonField Text="Delete" buttonType="Button" commandName="Delete" />
</Colummns>
</asp:GridView>
I have also created the necessary subroutine, which should be executed when button is clicked, but i can't get the buttons to run the sub, when i click on them, the sub has the following declaration below
Any Suggestions forum
Thanks in advance
boy
Sub DataGrid1_DeleteCommand(ByVal s As Object, _
ByVal e As DataGridCommandEventArgs)
Dim connectionString As String
connectionString = "Server=lo; uid=; pwd=;database=test;"
Dim conn As MySqlConnection
Dim cmd As MySqlCommand
Dim Id As Integer
Id = CInt(e.Item.Cells(0).Text)
If Id <> Session("CustomerIdToDelete") Then
lbl1.Text = _
"Press the Delete button again if you want to " & _
"delete customer id #" & Id.ToString
Session("CustomerIdToDelete") = Id
Return
End If
Session("CustomerIdToDelete") = -1
conn = New MySqlConnection(connectionString)
cmd = New MySqlCommand("sp_myDelete", conn)
cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure
cmd.Parameters.Add("?sp_Id", SqlDbType.Int).Value = Id
cmd.Connection.Open()
cmd.ExecuteNonQuery()
cmd.Connection.Close()
displayResults()
End Sub

You are missing runat="server" in the buttonfield
Hope that helps.

Thats not a valid operation in a buttonfield apparently, guessing because its nested in the datagrid
