Hi Everyone,
I have an issue with clearing out session variables in the StateServer mode. In my application an administrator can logout other users i.e. can end their sessions. I dont know how to achieve this in .NET 2.0
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance

To clear the Session use either of the following:
Session.Abandon();
or
Session.Clear();
The difference between the Session.Abandon() and the Session.Clear() method is that if you call Session.Abandon(), Session_End will be fired (for InProc mode) and in the next request, Session_Start will be fired. Session.Clear( ) just clears the session data without killing it.

For what I know, you can't access Session data of a different session than the session of the current request. Therefore you can't clear an other session from within the "administrator" session.
We solved a similar problem by holding a list of all users that is updated whenever a user makes a request. When the admin kicks a user then we write this info into this list and in the next request of this user he gets kicked and his session is abandoned.
That means on every request it is checked whether the current user has to be kicked.

Hi there,
To anybody out there with knowledge in encryption...
I've made a cookie implementation to encrypt the cookie using a third party DLL which used AES asymetric encryption.my problem is how to decrypt the encrpted cookie if all the keys have been cleared after an event called Login button has been clicked?
thanks for your time

hello satips,
tnx for ur reply.but im using the AES symmetric encryption method here.i need the keys to decrypt it.the key however is lost along with the session data.storing the key as cookie is not a nice practice, right?do you have any good idea how to get the key back after it is being cleared by the session?

I have not used that AES Symmetric encryption and Decryption method.
Pls go with Cryptographic method from MSDN.I have used that only for encrypting and decrypting.

Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server
Is just a basic connectivity error meaning the client could not connect to the target SQL Server. So just follow the basic connectivity troubleshooting guidelines on our SQL Protocols blog, see:
SQL Server 2005 Connectivity Issue Troubleshoot - Part I
SQL SERVER 2005[^]
and
SQL Server 2005 Connectivity Issue Troubleshoot - Part II
Part II[^]
This should help you debug the problem.

Ello All
I am in the process of developing a ASP.Net 2.0 Ajax project, and I need to extract data from a database into an array, where I then can populate (true/false)from the array into many check boxes.
I know its simple but for some reason I just can't come up with the answer, it must be old age .
Anyway thank you all for any help that you provide!!!

Also could the same code be used within a query?

You can return your data as a string with a pipe "|" separated list to the script, then use the following code to declare a array:
JAVASCRIPT
var arrItems = (data.value).split('|');
Then refer it using arrItems[0],arrItems[1],etc
Hope this helps

That's not exactly going to predispose somebody to want to help you now is it?

Bit of a tall order that. What have you done so far? What code have you implemented?
This isn't rentacoder - you aren't going to get an application written for you for free here.

I think he actually got a job on RAC doing this. Now that he's in way over his head, he might need someone to bail him out! Any volunteers??? Nope. I didn't think so.

Oh I don't know. My rates are cheap - about $100 per line of code.

I suspect that happens quite a bit. Some moron accepted his bid of $50 and really thinks he's going to get it for that.

From what I've seen around there, I think you're right. There's so much underbidding by so many people who don't know what they're doing, it's silly. Even the "teams" of programmers underbid. How the hell do any of these idiots expect to make money when each team member only gets about US$5 to US$10 on delivery??

because we're doing the coding ? I don't know, but it's insane, that's for sure. And, the people who bid on those jobs, are also morons. I know, I did some RAC work for a while, thinking that doing some low paid work would help me to get well paid work, and the people we worked for were as clueless as the people bidding $20 for a project.

Yeah, I've noticed that too. I've never bid on a job at RAC, and probably never will, because of that.
Christian Graus wrote: thinking that doing some low paid work would help me to get well paid work,
I also thought of that, but then thought of "How is the employeer who might pay me more going to verify any kind of work I did on an RAC project??"
I've got a couple of old friends around that I've dug up who do some work like this, but on word of mouth. I've been working with them on some of their projects for their clients. Nothing that would amount to full time coding though, but it helps pay the bills.
