Ricky,
It looks like the db column you are uploading to isnt the right type for the data you are putting into it. Therefore it isnt able to accept the full 16 digits and hence it displays '1.23E+15' which basically means its got 1.23 but then found an error because there is 15 whole numbers too many for it to display.
The same happens on a calculator when you create a number thats too big for its display.
Try messing about with the db field type eg varchar. If you use varchar you will have more than enough capacity for the number. Therefore if you still get the same problem you know something is wrong with your code. If it works however you can try tinkering with the field type or simply convert from varchar back to a number in your code.

Hi all,
We currently have a webserver running websites done in asp. What implications or should I say problems might occur to the existing sites if I install the .net framework on it. Also, the webserver is currently running on windows 2000 if I'm not mistaken and I want to install the .net framework 2.0 and gradually start converting the sites to it.
Is there any pooling issues that may occur

I think there won't be any problem for the existing ASP pages after you install .NET framework.

Thanks for the reply, I'm just a bit hesitant to do it because it is the live webserver and if the sites hosted on it goes down there are going to be big k@k

Absolutely no problem - go ahead, all will be fine...

Hi Apurva........
i actually wanted to know... the basic advantages of serialization.When i have databases then what's the great deal in utilizing the serialiation?
|
|
|
|
|
Hello
Serialization is the process of transmitting an object either in binary or in some human readable format like XML. .NET supports automatic serialization by marking the class as serialize. For making the concept more clear assume that you have a webservice which contains some serializable classes and it's objects. When you are sending that object to the client machine, it will be transmitted as binary or XML format and another object will be created on the client machine. Hope you are clear now.

I use ViewState for data that is valid only for this page and as long as the user stays on this page.
And Session is used to store data that has to life longer than the interaction with the page (for example for data that has to be present when the user navigates back to the page to restore some kind of state).
Finally I reroute the ViewState to the Session because I don't want to send it to the client side.

I have an object tag as below.
<object id="basket" name="basket" classid="http:/public/bin/RKSmartControls.dll#Reuters.Knowledge.SmartControls.DocumentDownload" height="0" width="0" VIEWASTEXT>
<param name="Protocol" value="<%= GetContextProtocol() %>" />
<param name="Domain" value="<%= GetContextDomain() %>" />
<param name="DocumentRetrievalURL" value="showDoc/Research.dox?docIDs=" />
<param name="AuthenticationToken" value="<%= Context.Request.Cookies[CookieNames.TICKET].Value %>" />
</object>
And from the javascript I am calling a method present in this dll as below
function SmartClientDownload(XmlString)
{
var err = "";
try {
alert("basket = " + document.all("basket"));
basket.Context= XmlString;
basket.Download();
}
catch(e){
err="There was an error on this page.\n";
err+="Error description: "+e.description+"\n";
alert(err);
}
}
Here I get an error Object doesn't support this property or method.
Sometimes it work sometimes it fails, Let me know if you have faced this issue.

Iam using check box inside a DataGrid column. How to check or uncheck the checkbox according to values in the column(Type: Bit) of a table when the DataGrid loads.
Thanks .............

You can use onItemDatabound event of the datagrid to write you code to handle the checkbox.

Hai friends,
i desingned a gridview and bounded the fields, i was taken a hyperlink field in that gridview.
now i want visible property of that hyperlinkfield at runtime.(i mean after form load).
is it possible
if ok please provide code for that.
Below is my code. i want to disable the estimate hyperlinkfield after form load.
eg:
<asp:gridview id="grdviewestimate" runat="server" autogeneratecolumns="False" pagesize="1"
="" cellpadding="4" datamember="DefaultView" forecolor="#333333" gridlines="None">
<columns>
<asp:templatefield headertext="Estimate Form">
<itemtemplate>
First Name:
| <asp:label id="lblname" runat="server" text="<%# Bind("firstname") %>" font-names="Verdana"
="" font-size="9pt">
| Last Name: | <asp:label id="lbllname" runat="server" text="<%# Bind("lastname") %>" font-names="Verdana"
="" font-size="9pt">
| Description:
| <asp:textbox id="ttdescription" runat="server" text="<%# bind("description") %>"
="" textmode="MultiLine" font-size="9pt" readonly="True" rows="5" width="178px">
|
<asp:hyperlinkfield datanavigateurlformatstring="~/Administrator/Invoice.aspx?id={0}"
="" text="Estimate" datanavigateurlfields="id">
<footerstyle backcolor="#5D7B9D" font-bold="True" forecolor="White">
<rowstyle backcolor="#F7F6F3" forecolor="#333333">
<editrowstyle backcolor="#999999">
<selectedrowstyle backcolor="#E2DED6" font-bold="True" forecolor="#333333">
<pagerstyle backcolor="#284775" forecolor="White" horizontalalign="Center">
<headerstyle backcolor="#5D7B9D" font-bold="True" forecolor="White">
<alternatingrowstyle backcolor="White" forecolor="#284775">
<asp:hyperlink id="hlink" runat="server" navigateurl="~/Administrator/invoice.aspx?id={0}" text="Estimate form">
<asp:sqldatasource id="dsviewestimate" runat="server" connectionstring="<%$ ConnectionStrings:LEConnectionString %>"
="" selectcommand="SELECT * FROM [u_le_estimateform]">
|
|
|
|
|
You can write the code for that in OnRowDataBound event of the gridview.
