Sure, you can use a data reader to read them one line at a time, but getting a dataset and making it the data source of your listbox is easier, I would think.

Is it possible to get the text from a Word document (using the Word object library in VB6) and store that text into a string variable? If so, how do you do it?

I'm doing it in VB6 through MS Access.

Hey everybody, I was hoping someone could help us upload a word document from (anywhere on the PC) into the windwordcontrol on the form. This is our first time integrating office and so our knowledge is very limited. We have gotten as far as adding the winwordcontrol to the toolbox, and adding a reference to the word object in the COM tab. I also read "Integrating Microsoft Word in your .NET applications" by Anup Shinde on the codeproject, but I dont seem to understand. Perhaps its because its in ASP syntax- or else its just me.
Can anyone help? or provide a url to another article which may help?
thanks

hi
if you only want to see the word document then do the following: -
* Insert a richtextcontrol on to the form.
* use the loadfile method for richtextbox and pass the file name with full path to load it into control.
if you want to do somthing else then plz reply i will give you the solution...

I have no idea what you're talking about
1 - what sort of document ?
2 - what do you mean by 'editable' ? That seems obvious, but your document doesn't just magically become editable, you write the code to edit it, instead of the code to display it. At the most basic level, this would mean instead of a label, putting text in an edit box and writing code to load/save the document.

Hi,
I am getting an error and I do not know what it is. It works locally very well, but on the server it gives errors.
Here is my line of code:
Response.Write(Convert.ToDouble(ds.Tables(0).Rows(i).Item(ddlSitePrice.SelectedItem.Text)))
I did a write to the screen to see if it works.
ddlSitePrice is a drop downlist with the field names coming from the CSV file. The value in the CSV file is something like: R 100.00.
Why is this not working. I even tried Decimal.Parse but it is not working.
Can someone please help me??
Regards

For starters, you should break this up, so your code is checking to see if there is a table(0), there is a row(i), it has an item that relates to the drop down list item text, and then you should use double.TryParse to make sure it's a number.
Even though I assume this is test code, it's really better for it to also test that the value it's looking for exists, instead of making so many assumptions on one line of code.

Hello,
I'm creating .NET remoting application. I need to send files thoroug network.
Files can be very large, and I would like to be sure files are send succesfully. What I've been thinking, is to split file on smaller ones (eg. 1MB), and send them one by one through net. With textual files this is very easy but what with binary files? How to split them? Also, how can I do CRC check at the end?
Thanks in advance,
Fedor

If you have XP SP2 or morte recent OS there is a command line utility called "robocopy" that does robust file copying...I suggest you use that or teh built in FTP classes rather then reinvent the wheel yourself?
|
|
|

Thanks for the answer, I'll check that

I think that robocopy won't work.
As I saw on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robocopy[^] Robocopy works only with folders. That is not what I need, I need files to be copyed.
About FTP classes, can you give me more info, how to do it?
Thanks

BS. We use it all the time around here to copy large files acrossed a slow WAN. You can copy individual files however you want.

No, I checked this, and it simply won'g work.
The problem I have is that I can't access to share folder on machines. Using robocopy or anyonther command line tool would require some kind of share copy from one location to other, somewhere in the network.
In my applications, I have client and server independent app's and I have to send file through .net remoting, like a parameter to method (IO.FileInfo, or byte array).
Please help i'm
Thanks in advance
