In addition to what was already written:
If you are writing an asp.net ajay enabled web application then you can use the FilteredTextBoxExtender and specify its type as numeric.

Hi
I ahve been tryin to get this datagrid to show my query results for ages now and I jus get a blank screen, any suggestions?
Sub bindData()
'1. Create a connection
Dim connectionString As String
connectionString = "Server=localhost; uid=jshort; pwd=oasisarab;database=ftp1;"
'Builds .net mysql connection and passes connection string into method
Dim connection As New MySqlConnection(connectionString)
Const sql As String = "select UserId, username, groups, joindate from Users;"
'Create mySql command string for passing query or SPROC(Stored Procedure)
Dim cmdString As New MySqlCommand(sql, connection)
'Set Command to equal mySql connection,t so can pass SQL query
'3. Create the DataAdapter
Dim da As New MySqlDataAdapter()
da.SelectCommand = cmdString
'4. Populate the DataSet
Dim ds As New DataSet()
da.Fill(ds)
'5. Set the datagrid's datasource to the dataset and databind
dgUsers.DataSource = ds
dgUsers.DataBind()
End Sub

Are you calling your databind method in the page load or something? The method won't get called automatically.

Ye i am calling that from my page_load method, I have also checked the sql is correct as i put thru a command window and pulls back what i wanted
|
|
|
|
|
I would change this line:
dgUsers.DataSource = ds
to point to the table you want to bind to.
perhaps it is the first table returned:
dgUsers.DataSource = ds.Tables(0)

Still no joy
I don't understand wot the problem is I have used more sophisticated code using stored procedures, and works fine for every other table i need

I think you are missing AutoGenerateColumns="true"
in your datagrid code in the html.

hi,
i am using mailto: command on my web page.
the problem with this is when i am including the subject in this command and if subject is having '&' then the subject is being truncated in outlook.
please find the code below:
mailto:Webv2test96@executiveboard.com?subject=Message Regarding Leadership Development (ContentId=1118)& Rohit
Output:
Subject line only picks "Message Regarding Leadership Development (ContentId=1118)" and truncates "& Rohit" part.
i want to show all the text "Message Regarding Leadership Development (ContentId=1118)& Rohit" in the subject line in outlook.
Please suggest any workaround for this problem
thanks in advance.

YOu need "" since you have spaces in your subject.
" " (beginning and ending double quotes) are necessary if any spaces are used
Mailto parameter should be preceded by "?" for the first or only parameter and "&" for second and subsequent parameter.

In your subject text (Message Regarding Leadership Development (ContentId=1118)& Rohit ), you'll need to replace the "&" character with "%26". "&" is a reserved character used to separate parameter name/value pairs, just like in an HTTP url:
mailto:test@example.com?subject=My Subject&body=This is the body of my test message
This is what your mailto: link will do with "&" replaced by "%26":

Use Server.UrlEncode to encode the string properly for putting it in the url.
This will also encode the spaces in the string, as spaces are not allowed in a well formed url.

Hi
I was wondering if you would be able to give me some general feedback on my latest issue
I have created a user login screen, but now I want to be able to create some sort of authentication, so that I don't require the user to enter there login credentials everytime i need to do somthin in my database.
What is the best way of doing this, would issueing a cookie after succesfully loggin in do the job, so it gives me a constant reference to who the user is, allowing me to pull data from tables that is relevant to them
any help appreciated
boy

Have you tried just using Session variables? You could go the cookies route but make sure the password is not in plain text and the cookie is set to expire with in a short time later. Say like 20 minutes or one hour... Just a quick thought...

No
I have never used session variables, not really done anythin like this thats why I asked was gettin millions of different things off the web.
All my passwords have been encrpted anyways , sot ahts not a problem

|

Session["SomeVariable"] = someVariableIuse;
Use session variables to store information like that about the current user. Just note that you have to cast the objects back out of the Session object
string MySessionVariable = (string)Session["SomeVariable"];

That is fine. You can store it in session variables. Just take a look at Darrol's example.

hi friends,
how to upload and download a file from database using upload control in asp.net2.0.
|
|
|
|
|
Where is the database ? If it's on the server, the web is full of examples for storing files in a database.

Are you trying to store a file in the database and have the ability to pull it out when needed? If so, there is a lot of examples out there on the web. I only know how to do so in PHP but the concept is similar.
You will need to load in the file into something like a memory stream, and send to the database as a blob-type...
Hope this is a start for you...

hi friends ,
how to create a dll file in asp.net2.0.
|
|
|
|
|
you cannot create dll in asp.net instead of you can use Class Libary option on opening new project.
|
|
|
|
|
A class library is a DLL.
