Do you mean the compiler tells you that you can't reach the line of code indicated? Or you've run the program and it never reaches the line of code? If it is the latter what is the program doing instead, have you stepped through the code and watched what it was doing?

It's the latter. It might sound stupid but im not familiar with the compiler
can you kindly tell me how to do that??

Put a break point down at the start of the method - Thats where you click in the margin and a red dot appears.
Then run the code, when the method is entered the program will stop at the break point and you can then use Visual Studio to step through the code. F10 steps the program along one line. F11 steps the program into the method or property you are currently in.
The important things are that you can hover the mouse over an object and it will tell you want it is. There is also a watch window and a call stack which gives you useful information (You should find them at the bottom of visual studio)

It won't tell you, because it can reach the code. My guess would be an exception is thrown before it can reach the code. Probably because of this:
for (int ctr = 0; ctr <= files.Length; ctr++)
You should make that
for (int ctr = 0; ctr < files.Length; ctr++)
Indexation of your array begins at 0, not 1.
Standards are great! Everybody should have one!

Thanks
I had to surround the block with try catch to see what the error actually is!
Thanks for the tip Bekjong!

hi all,
I ve a problem.I created a user control(Marquee control,logic:-drawing the string at system.Threading.Timer event),it is working fine.When I place the control in one of the form(form is accessing a web service,will take few seconds to get the data),control is not running smoothly.it is hanging for a while (web serice cause the delay).I created a thread & put the WS,Now the form(GUI) is hanging for a while,when it refresh the marquee text is running like Fast forward for a while.It means the marquee is running at the back ground, but I can not see,how to make marquee visible(running smoothly)
Thanks in advance,
ebin

Hi,
I often see [STAThread] above the main method of other people's classes, but I honestly have no idea what it does someone willing to enlighten me? (I know its static thread, but what does it DO?)
|

Hello,
It marks the main entry point for the application.
Your programm will start at this point, in the main thread.
All the best,
Martin

Isn't that what the Main method is for?

You are write it's an Attribute for the Main method.
Which marks it as "Single-Threaded apartment" like 'Michael Sync'[^] said befor!

It's not for marking the entry point but rather specifying the threading model. See here[^] for some details.

I think some driver or patches are used in this code which are not available in web server.Can u send me the list of pre-required components??
Sir pls reply immediatly.It's very imp.
My code is
ReportDocument oRD = new CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument();
DiskFileDestinationOptions oExDo = new CrystalDecisions.Shared.DiskFileDestinationOptions();
oRD.Load(Request.ServerVariables["APPL_PHYSICAL_PATH"].ToString() + "Weekly_Reports\\crpCommonFieldCom.rpt");
ReportDefinition oDef = oRD.ReportDefinition;
// Sub Report1
foreach(ReportObject obj in oDef.ReportObjects)
{
if (obj is SubreportObject)
{
SubreportObject oSub1 = (SubreportObject)obj;
ReportDocument oRdSub1 = oSub1.OpenSubreport(oSub1.SubreportName);
if (oSub1.SubreportName == "crpM35.rpt")
{
oRdSub1.Database.Tables[0].SetDataSource(ds.Tables["M35"]);
}
if (oSub1.SubreportName == "crpM30.rpt")
{
oRdSub1.Database.Tables[0].SetDataSource(ds.Tables["M30"]);
}
if (oSub1.SubreportName == "crpM25.rpt")
{
oRdSub1.Database.Tables[0].SetDataSource(ds.Tables["M25"]);
}
}
}
ExportOptions oExO;
string strFile = Path.GetTempPath() + Session.SessionID.ToString() + ".xls";
oExDo.DiskFileName = strFile;
oExO = oRD.ExportOptions ;
oExO.ExportDestinationType = ExportDestinationType.DiskFile ;
oExO.ExportFormatType = ExportFormatType.Excel;
oExO.DestinationOptions = oExDo;
oRD.Export();
oRD.Close();
Response.ClearContent();
Response.ClearHeaders();
Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel";
Response.WriteFile(strFile);
Response.Flush();
Response.Close();
//delete the exported file from disk
System.IO.File.Delete(strFile);
