How to avoid MDIParent showing scroll bars whenever the child form exceeds client area? Setting MDIParent.AutoScroll to false doesn't help.
|
|
|
|
|
It wouldn't. Why would you want to do this?
Suppose I have a form that I've moved right to the bottom right hand corner of my screen and the main form is maximized. Then, suppose that I have changed the resolution of my monitor down from 1024 to 800*600, all of a sudden there's a form that is hidden from me and I couldn't get at it because there are no scroll bars to help me get to it.
There are carefully thought out reasons for the way that Windows usually works and users are used to them. If you try to break the behaviour in any way you run the risk of alienating your users.

I'm designing an imaging application. Both Photoshop and Paint Shop PRO does not show scroll bars in their MDI-based environment.
> If you try to break the behaviour in any way you run the risk of alienating your users.
So in this case and in my opinion - not showing the scroll bars is the "more" standard behaviour.
The whole problem should be solved via the MDIClient, but I don't even know where to start.
|
|
|
|
|
I'll look more carefully, later. There is the
solution .
But not a managed solution.
|
|
|
|
|
There is no managed solution. This behavior of the MdiClient control is by design. It's standard behavior in document, more specifically text editor, editing. Image editing is a whole different kind of MDI setup. Both the applications you mentioned do NOT use the managed MDIClient in the .NET Framework. They both use their own, custom-built, MDI containers.

Hi,
I have "English and Japanese" resources in my VC++.Net 2003 application (in same .rc file). Depending on the OS language the application is able to display the English (on English XP OS) or Japanese resources (on Japanese XP OS) properly.
Now, I have added the "Neutral resources" to this existing application. The problem is, irrespective of the OS language the application is displaying the "Neutral resources" (Even in English and Japanese OS).
My requirement here is,
1. If the OS language is English then the application should display "English resources"
2. If the OS language is Japanese then the application should display the "Japanese resources"
3. Else on any other language OS , the application should display the "Neutral resources.
Thanks & Regards,
Neeraj

What does Viewsource show up?
Did you check with length?
|
|
|
|
|
yes i have solved that problem,using string.length function
|
|
|
|
|
Actually even in C#, the length comparison is considered faster than string.Empty == strVariable
|
|
|
|
|
I've done scripting long back but i think javascript treats null as "null" [string]
U need to check these string rather than checking the empty state.
Just give a try

Chirag - BlueTooth communication is normally done via a bit of "Smoke and Mirrors". In other words, there is no actual BlueTooth API in .NET. What you want to do is write to and read from the serial ports. This[^] article gives information on communicating with a device via BlueTooth.

Actually the native interface to Microsoft's Bluetooth stack (for Windows XP SP1 and later) is via Windows Sockets. However, the .NET Framework System.Net.Sockets.Socket class does not allow you to create a Bluetooth socket - it does not appear in the AddressFamily enumeration. It might be possible to cast AF_BTH (which has the value 32) to an AddressFamily , but this seems a bit (!) dodgy.
However, programming Bluetooth via sockets is pretty hard - it's a lot easier to set up a binding to a serial port profile using whatever tools your Bluetooth drivers make available.

Hi,
Im quite new to xpath in .Net. I have an XML-structure shown below that contain measurements(diameters,areas etc) The one below includes two different measurements of an Bi diameter and also the mean value. I now want to extract the mean value.(the <value>5.0</value> tag.
As mentioned ,the file consists of many different measurements using the same strucutre. With the following expression I manage to extract the value but then I also get all the following mean values from all of the other calculations. How do I extract ONLY that node. I would really appriciate some help thanks!
Expression:
//item/item/concept[@codValue='11820-8']/following-sibling::item/value[@codValue='R-00317']/following::value
<item valType="CONTAINER">
<concept codValue="125005"> MeasureGroup</concept>
<item valType="NUM" relType="CONTAINS">
<concept codValue="11820-8">Bi Diameter</concept>
<value>4.9</value>
</item>
<item valType="NUM">
<concept codValue="11820-8">Bi Diameter</concept>
<value>5.1</value>
</item>
<item valType="NUM">
<concept codValue="11820-8">Bi Diameter</concept>
<item valType="CODE">
<value codValue="R-00317">Mean</value>
</item>
<value>5.0</value>
</item>
</item>

I now have several buttons on my Form, which process various Oracle select statements and even display the output in listboxes or labels. Can someone tell me if the items below are also possible in VB.NET?
1. Write a query to support using Join Statements that display data from Multiple Tables. (I was able to do a select statement from two tables and display the results in a textbox).
2. Write a query to support the project using Sub-queries.
3. Write a query to support the project using Reports and SQL statements.
4. Write code to support the project that creates and manages Tables, Tablespaces and Database Objects. (I tried editing the sample and by changing the "select department_name from departments where department_id = 10" to
create table emp2
(
emp_First_Name VARCHAR2 (100) PRIMARY KEY,
emp_Last_Name VARCHAR2 (100),
emp_years DATE,
emp_salary NUMBER (8,2)
)"
but this did not work and generated several syntax errors.
5. Create Users and Manage access to the Oracle Database. (Like add a user and the permissions for that user).
6. Code S-Q-L statements within P-L-/-S-Q-L, built-in S-Q-L functions, Cursors, subprograms, packages, triggers and error handling to support the project. ( I have found some examples on the net, but have not been able to make any work, like the ones in the samples from the link you provided).
7. Write code to employ Composite to support the project. (Is this possible?)
8. Employ and demonstrate Cursors.
As you can all see, my basic issue is that I am trying to process various queries using buttons in VB.NET and then display the results in a text box.
Any help with this, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again Joseph!!

Hello code Gods! I'm a newbie to VB.NET and really need some help. This may seem basic to you all, so please leave out the laughs. Lol
I'm trying build a basic VB.NET application that has a datagrid and 2 or 3 buttons. The buttons would be: CreateTable, Alter Table, Drop Table. I want to be able to run Oracle queries and perform these types of actions. I've tried 20 different samples from the net, but none seem to work. It would be great if someone could just help me with the code, for a button that would query the table and display the output in the datagrid. That would give me a great start.(Like select * from emp;). (Or create table store). Obviously I am years away from being able to provide the user the ability to enter the values, which take affect after the button is pressed, but for now, it would be a major win, if the values can at least be hard-coded.
This is really hard for a newbie and I'm starting to lose hope.
Thanks in advance to all of you! I've read many of your posts and I keep my hope.

I have seen a few post on web regarding issues with getting a security update for .NET 1.1 SP1 - KB928366 to install correctly. I can not install it, as a result every reboot I get a Windows Update prompt to install it.
Has anyone had this problem and rectified it.
Thanks in advance.
