While running through the code optimization, I had to fill the sheet with the compiler warnings. I have observed that this.Page.RegisterStartupScript is now deprecated in favor of a more complex method call like
ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(Type,stringKey, stringValue)
I could not find any compelling and convincing reason for this deprecation or move strategy:
1) An elegant string method being traded off by a complex method call.
2) More error prone latter because of Arrays. I just got an 'Index Out Of Bounds '.
The page currently is moved to Obsolete API list. Anyone could highlight the advantages of new method compared to the former and how best to migrate to it?

I believe the aim here is to use the type as a namespace for the scripts. This allows two unrelated controls to register the same script name for different scripts, while at the same time preventing the same actual script (qualified by type name and script name) from being unnecessarily registered multiple times.
For example, say you have MyDropList and MyNewButton controls, developed by different vendors. They both need a startup script. If they've both called it Init (say) and register it the old way, only one of the necessary startup scripts will get output (the first one, I think). Using the new way, you effectively get MyDropList.Init and MyNewButton.Init, they no longer clash, and both scripts will be output.
I don't see where the Index Out Of Bounds (presumably an ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException) is coming from.

hi,
you can try to use the meta http-equiv
like
it will get refreshed for every 2 seconds
if you want some other method send your code.

If you use XMLHTTP to reload the page and send/recieve the data, you can workaround this glitch/limitation.

Hi,
I am posting a sample javascript related to my problem
Sample Text 1Sample Text 2
This script in between the is outputing some text(some dynamic
value).
But the problem is that these value are not coming in the right order when
rendered
eg
It is rendered as in the following order
Sample Text 1
Sample Text 2
String rendered by the javascript
but it should have been rendered as
Sample Text 1
String rendered by the javascript
Sample Text 2
I face this problem only in Internet Explorer.In Mozilla it works fine.Tried
several things,but nothing seems to be worki

If your real page is as badly typed as this I'm not surprised it doesn't work!
a) What's happened to the td tags in your table? It will render oddly without them...
b) thr final before the is redundant.
I suspect your problem is a typo somewhere!
|
|
|
|
|
Actually just to show the simplified code i did not show the Tags,but the TD tags are there in the actual code,probably this is because of the fact that this dynamic javascript is taking some time to render the value and in the mean time IE is rendering the rest of the html.This is because if i write a function in the head section with a simple document.write("sometext"),and call that function insted of this javascript inside the 2nd ,the ordering is correct even in IE.
The Problem is that if that is the case then is there any workaround for that

Well there's no obvious reason it shouldn't work as planned - what is your javascript writing? If it's spitting out HTML tags double-check them, a simpl typo there could lead to unpredictable rendering.
A good approach to problem solving is to break it down into simpler steps; start with a simple js script that just writes "Hello world" and make sure that renders correctly. Then try huilding up to what you want....

is there a differnece between these styles ?
1-
body
{
bla... bla
}
html body
{
bla... bla
}
|
|
|
|
|
Why on earth did you create a new thread for that question?
Yes, there is a difference between those styles. The first applies to any body tag, while the second only applies to a body tag inside an html tag. However, for a web page the body tag is always inside the html tag, so you will never get into a situation where you will experience the difference.

Is there a difference between these two styles ?:
1-
*{
margin ;
}
2-
body
{
margin ;
}

|
|
|
Yes.
"*" matches every element. "body" matches only the body element.

hi
I want to create a weblog site with asp.net.what is the best way to start?
i dont have enough information about it.
|
|

You should ask this in the ASP.NET forum instead.
Also, you have already answered your own question. As you don't have enough information about it, the best way to start is to get more information. If you want any help with that, you have to specify what information it is that you need.

This is a superset forum right? Hence I think he has failed to narrow down his forum choice.

Hello,
I am working on a site with an input form that has required field
validators. If the user doesn't enter something in one of the
textboxes, the error message appears. When they enter something and:
1) goto another field on the form (the error message clears) then
click OK, the click event fires as expected
2) click OK without focusing on another field, only the error message
is cleared but the click event is never fired, hence forcing the user
to click OK one more time to submit
Any idea why this weird behaviour is happening? I tried it on a
simple page with just a couple of textboxes and it worked fine, so I
am not sure why this is acting differently?
Any comments would be much appreciated.
