actually m_edtBox is of type CEditBox and m_cmbString is of CComboBox, you have to associate that with each control!

humm.. create two control variable associated each with EditBox and Combo Box.
CString strText;
m_edtBox.GetWindowText(strText);
m_cmbString.Addstring(strText);

I have developed a server-client application to monitor various processes and other stuff on a LAN , and there is an option for "remote desktop view" which enables the administrator running the server application to remotely view the desktop of the selected client, and this is done by capturing the client desktop writing the DIB into a bitmap file and sending that image file through socket to server and displaying it on the server and the process is repeated again and again after a delay of 2 sec , but the problem is that after displaying 25-30 images the process halts and no further action takes place , neither images are captured on client or stored in bmps or stored in bmp files at server or refreshed at display window at server.
I have checked for proper release of DCs I have used but am unable to understand the reason for this saturation.

You first need to find out where the problem actually is - is the client side not sending the bitmaps, is the server side not displaying them, or is the client sending them but they never even get to the server? Is one of the applications starting to spin (consume CPU cycles but is doing nothing?), or is it hanging (not consuming any CPU cycles)? Is the data connection going down?
There are several places where things can go wrong, and for several reasons. First is to identify the location of the problem, and then narrow-down possible causes.
One tip - I once had a memory leak in a C/S DB-based that read bitmaps from the database and rendered them as bitmaps - I was not releasing the IStream -based object's memory that OleDB used to get the binary data to me and after a few images the OleDB layer would go into a spin.
Peace!

I regret that i posted the same question in many forums.
my software is related client- server relationship in which server appication runs in the server and client appication in the client computers.whenever any user login in a particular computer in the lan that pc with user name will be displayed in the main listbox of the application that is running in the server in order to administrate the whole LAN. whenever any user login to the computer that client application extracts the server ip address from registry as i am using the 2 or 3 registry keys. the problem is not with administrator account as it has permission to access the registry values but the problem is with local users who have no such permissions.
so i want to set permissions for those 2 or 3 registry key values as "full control" for all users so that any user login , he can be displayed in the main window of the server appication running in the server.
so please help

HI
I developed a programme in VC 6.0 and now i want to convert in to visual studio 2005.
I tryied it by opening in Visual Studio 2005 and when i compiled , it throws error as fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file 'winspool.lib'.
So give me a suggestion, how to convert the programme from VC 6.0 to Visual Studio 2005.

Delete all files in your Debug and Release directories and recompile.

Thanks for your Reply
As your suggestion , deleted all the files in the Debug and Release Directory even though ther was an error.
Error 1 fatal error C1083: Cannot open precompiled header file: '.\Release/MobileClient.pch': No such file or directory e:\vc++\MobileClient\ThreadClass.cpp 4

I bet the compiler is right: There is no pch-file left. Th compilerwould not want the pch-files you got anyway: He did tell you that in the first error-message.
OK, You did a rebuild-all, right?
Then there is something fishy going on with the precompiled-headers.
In VC2005, open the properties of your project, and navigate to "C/C++" and "Precompiled Headers".
It should be switched to "Automatically generate"
Failure is not an option - it's built right in.

This new error has a totally different reason.
winspool.lib comes with the Microsoft Platform SDK.
You have that installed, and its path is entered in the Library-files directory?
(At "Tools", "Options", "Projects and Solutions", "VC++ Directories" and the combobox "Show directories for:" set to "Library Files"
Failure is not an option - it's built right in.

Hi
Thanks for your Reply
As your suggestion i made the changes
(At "Tools", "Options", "Projects and Solutions", "VC++ Directories" and the combobox "Show directories for:" set to "Library Files") and saved the programme. Even though it was changed to "Executable Files"
So icant compile the programme in the "Library Files",the same Error "Winspool.lib" was occuring.
awaiting for yor suggestion

At my computer, it looks like this[^].
For include files, it looks like this[^].
And you have a recent Platform SDK installed?
