How do I call (or make use of) the functions like UnEncodePassword and ResetPassword in MySqlMembershipProvider.cs
from my own .cs files.
Is it something as simple as a using statement?
Thank you.

I have the application using MySql for roles and memberships. But i cant seem to get the "Web Site Administration Tool" working with the MySql service provider.
Does anybody have any input to how to get the tool working with MySQL?

Jubii, figured it out myself. Seems like the tool doesn't like all the System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Trace.Warn calls. So i removed all the calls to System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Trace in the two MySql provider classes, and then the tool worked.

Hi,
I've been trying to use this implementation but the asp administration tool doesn't work as I expected. It recognized the created users but when I try to select my provider manager with this tool, selecting "Select a single provider for all site management data" I recieved the following message "No providers created"
I read your post but I couln't find any call to the System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Trace.Warn in the code of the two classes. Could you please help me to solve this

Hello,
I have tried to use this provider, but it doesn't work correctly...
The role provider works perfectly, but the MembershipProvider, while creating user, shows this error message:
Execption provided by destination of a calling (in italian: Eccezione generata dalla destinatione di una chiamata). in System.RuntimeMethodHandle._InvokeMethodFast(Object target, Object[] arguments, SignatureStruct& sig, MethodAttributes methodAttributes, RuntimeTypeHandle typeOwner) in System.RuntimeMethodHandle.InvokeMethodFast(Object target, Object[] arguments, Signature sig, MethodAttributes methodAttributes, RuntimeTypeHandle typeOwner) in System.Reflection.RuntimeMethodInfo.Invoke(Object obj, BindingFlags invokeAttr, Binder binder, Object[] parameters, CultureInfo culture, Boolean skipVisibilityChecks) in System.Reflection.RuntimeMethodInfo.Invoke(Object obj, BindingFlags invokeAttr, Binder binder, Object[] parameters, CultureInfo culture) in System.Web.Administration.WebAdminMembershipProvider.CallWebAdminMembershipProviderHelperMethodOutParams(String methodName, Object[] parameters, Type[] paramTypes) in System.Web.Administration.WebAdminMembershipProvider.CreateUser(String username, String password, String email, String passwordQuestion, String passwordAnswer, Boolean isApproved, Object providerUserKey, MembershipCreateStatus& status) in System.Web.UI.WebControls.CreateUserWizard.AttemptCreateUser() in System.Web.UI.WebControls.CreateUserWizard.OnNextButtonClick(WizardNavigationEventArgs e) in System.Web.UI.WebControls.Wizard.OnBubbleEvent(Object source, EventArgs e) in System.Web.UI.WebControls.CreateUserWizard.OnBubbleEvent(Object source, EventArgs e) in System.Web.UI.WebControls.Wizard.WizardChildTable.OnBubbleEvent(Object source, EventArgs args) in System.Web.UI.Control.RaiseBubbleEvent(Object source, EventArgs args) in System.Web.UI.WebControls.Button.OnCommand(CommandEventArgs e) in System.Web.UI.WebControls.Button.RaisePostBackEvent(String eventArgument) in System.Web.UI.WebControls.Button.System.Web.UI.IPostBackEventHandler.RaisePostBackEvent(String eventArgument) in System.Web.UI.Page.RaisePostBackEvent(IPostBackEventHandler sourceControl, String eventArgument) in System.Web.UI.Page.RaisePostBackEvent(NameValueCollection postData) in System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint)
How I can solve this problem?
Thanks in advance,

I have followed all the directions and it should be working, when I click on security in the web admin tool of VS 2005 I get an eeror message:
There is a problem with your selected data store. This can be caused by an invalid server name or credentials, or by insufficient permission. It can also be caused by the role manager feature not being enabled. Click the button below to be redirected to a page where you can choose a new data store.
The following message may help in diagnosing the problem: Keyword not supported. Parameter name: driver
Any help greatly appreciated.

I figured it out, I had an extra paremeter in my web.config connection string (Driver={MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver}) that works when connecting without the provider. Once that was removed, it worked as advertised!

I have this sample working with my database, and tried adding the following web.config settings:

It could possibly be the field structure in your database, because there is a warning about using MySQL 4 in the tutorial as follows:
"Create the tables (note that these SQL commands might not work with MySQL 4)."

What do you mean "Create a virtual path? Do you mean a new virtual directory and then point that just at the app_data folder or at the root folder for the website?

I get the same problem. I even create an account with the same info for every field. username = password = question = answer = '1234'. when I look at the table. the hasd value for password and answer is the same. when I click on the forget password, it ask me to verify the question and answer it does verify. can't figure out what is wrong.
what do you mean by "virtual path", can you show me the steps. thanks.

Hmm...I never actually tried this exact version after I created to VB. I actually Overrode and Overloaded many of the functions and implemented my own DB Schema and Encryption, but much of the functionality stayed the same and I didn't have any trouble logging in.

Thanks for saving me some time here. This seems to work well, but one problem I had was with the website admin tool. It gives some error when I try to use the link to test the provider. It says something about not being able to connect to the database. Fortunately though, it can connect to the database and all other operations (i.e. managing users and roles) seem to go quite well.

I've got the same error here. Tried to alter the connectionstring and to add the used connectionstring to the machine.config. That unfortunately did not do the job.
Has anyone had this same problem and solved it?
Thanks in advance!
