I would like to believe that the error is caused by a bad or unset SMSC number. You need to set that on the modem before trying sending the SMS.
When i once did it i had to send AT commands through the serial port and the command for setting the SMSC is: AT+CSCA="service#" e.g AT+CSCA="+263912100300"

Hi all,
I've built a little program to play a video file, with an embedded platform running WinCE 6, using DirectShow interfaces.
Basically the core statements are the following:
/***********************************************************/
CoInitialize(NULL);
hr = CoCreateInstance(CLSID_FilterGraph, NULL, CLSCTX_INPROC, IID_IGraphBuilder, (void **) &pGraph);
if ( FAILED(hr) ) { // add some error handling here
return -1;
}
hr = pGraph->QueryInterface(IID_MediaControl, (void **) &pMediaControl);
hr = pMediaControl->QueryInterface(IID_IMediaEventEx, (void **) &pEvent);
hr = pGraph->RenderFile(TEXT("\\HARD DISK\\MyFile.wmv"), NULL);
if (SUCCEEDED(hr)) {
hr = pMediaControl->Run();
}
/************************************************************/
This program is compiled and built correctly (it seems to be).
At runtime, however, RenderFile() never returns success, whichever format "MyFile.wmv" is, or it never returns at all!
This functions indeed has ever one of the following behaviour:
1) returns some error code, due to the file format (no decompressor, etc); this would even be correct.
2) it hangs everything, i.e. the program never returns from this function; moreover the entire o.s. crashes (even mouse pointer goes locked), and I must restart the PC.
I'd like simply to know the reasons of this last point!!
My "test" video file is (depending on its format) about 50KB wide so I don't think that there is any hardware capability issue. By the way, the platform is a x86 single board computer Vortex SOC 133 Mhz, with 64MB of RAM (40MB free before running the program).
Every clue is appreciated
Thanks in Advance
Oswald

Hi,
This is more of a question than a problem. I'll be starting to create a piece of software that will need to be run on a PDA or mobile phone. The question is:
Do i need to code any differently from a windows exe to a mobile device in C#?
The reason for asking is because i've never looked into coding for any type of mobile device before and just wondered are there any major differences etc.
Regards,
Gareth.

You can use C# with the .NET Compact Framwork[^]. But you can code with C++ and traditional MFC and Win32 with Embedded Visual C++[^] (there's also EVC++ 4.0). It's very confortable using eVC 4, since it's traditional C++/MFC and even WTL. Of course, there are restrictions and mostly you'll program dialog-based apps, but it's nice IMO.

Does anyone know how to implement Tap-and-Hold for a generic UserControl?
A ContextMenu seems not to be present, and creating a new one is without effect.
Does anyone have a simple C# example on how to include a contextmenu? All the source I found was for a ListControl that already had some kind of ContextMenu and that got only some new features, etc.
Anyhow, I don't get it work!
Thanks in advance!

Hello.
I faced the same problem a year ago. In a word, there's no supported way for transparent labels. You'll have to make a work around.
There is this article you might want to look at: http://www.codeproject.com/ce/transparent_controls.asp[^].
There was a technique for creating transparent controls, that involved copying the bitmap of the window before the control was created, store it in memory and when drawing the control, use the portions of the bitmap to "draw" the control and then the control itself. Yet I think that with the already provided article will suffice.
Regards.

Hi there,
I'm currently looking into using this factory to create an application for a mobile device. I like the idea of using this factory because of the code/modules it provides (ie: connection monitor).
However, I was wondering if anyone had any experience or suggestions on MCSF as I'm finding it hard to find decent examples/tutorials to really get my head around it and start creating something worth while.
http://www.codeplex.com/smartclient/Wiki/View.aspx?title=Mobile%20Client%20Software%20Factory&referringTitle=Home[^]
I've had a look at the MCSF HOLs samples but no real progress.
Just wondering why this isn't more widely used/avaliable, there don't seem to be many MCSF examples on Code Project.
Thanks in advance,
Pete

Hi everyone,
Is it possible to connect the Emulator (Pocket PC / Windows CE) to the activesync?
My second question concerns a webservice problem
I have a folder c:\webTest which contains my webservice and a subfolder
c:\webTest\images containing some images.
When I try to transfer files from the images folder to the PDA I get the following error:
" server was unable to process request.---> c:\webTest\images\Jenny.jpg is not a valid virtual path "
Does anyone know how to solve this problem

Hi,
I am working on a PDA application (visual studio 2005). My project is to transfer data between a PC and PDA. I've created windows application for PC and mobile application for PDA.Im using XML for storing data in both applications. How can i transfer datas between PC and PDA. Both PDA application and Windows application contains a button called "Synchronisation". Clicking on these will start transfer of data between pc and pda. im using C# 2.0.

I don't use active sync for data transfer. Much more reliable and capable is WTMiP from Quest Solution, described as FTP on steroids. There is a client and a server component. You call the client from your code - examples are provided.

Can I easily catch with .NET CF an event or notification, when a SD card or comparable is inserted or plugged out?
I have done this in embedded Visual C++ 4 once, but I cannot find my source, nor find anything about the mechanism in general right now.
Hints/help appreciated.
|
|
|
|
|
At least I remembered that I had to catch the WM_DEVICECHANGE event, and I had to register for notification previously.
Anyhow, I have no idea if this could work with .NET CF, since at least the registering process is somewhere in the API.
Hints are still welcome.

Made it on my own, the only trick thing is to get the correct DEV_BROADCAST_PORT instead of a volume. Only one of the LPARAMS carries the SD-cards attaced path.

Visual C++ has always been available. Visual Basic support has lagged. Now .NET and C# ("managed code") seem to be the preferred language.
Download Embedded Visual Tools from Microsoft's web site. It's a free download. You can develop simple apps in emulation mode, running on the PC without need for a handheld.
Latest Mobil devices require the Visual Studio first, which is not free.
VC++ is my recommendation.
ActiveSync is the tool used to download the application to the handheld computer. Also a free download from Microsoft, it is preinstalled on the handheld.

Oh No, the above is not true. See, for instance the good reply of Mike Dimmick [^].
