To do what exactly?
The problem arises since combos aren't rendered as proper HTML elements in IE6 (IE7 doesn't have the problem, so quick fix == upgrade lol!), but are actually rendered as windowed elements - just like IE itself.
The iFrame workaround uses the fact that iFrames are also windowed elements, so appear in front of the combos.
To use, you need to set up a pge with the contents of your popup, and put an iFrame in it's place on the original page. When showing the popup, you then need to set the src of the iFrame to the new page. This isn't a particularly good solution though, but the others aren't much better! (My personal fave is setting the display to none for any windowed elements before showing the popup, but that can SUCK badly dependent on the page)

Hi all,
I have a solution for the above text up to certain extent.
For each user i put a column called "LoggedIn" and i am updating the cloumn with "Y" and and "N", when user logged in and logged out respectively.
But for 1 scenario, i couldn't able to update,
i.e when user directly close the browser after loggin in.
How can i update "LoggedIn" column to "N"
Can any one give me the solution for this scenario?
Regards

1) Is the Windows box restarting daily at a particular point of time?
2) If W3SVC/IISadmin set to 'Manual' instead of 'Automatic'?
3) Any errors in EventViewer?

In IIS the application pool is set to re-cycle every 27 hours by default. I would check when the app pool is set to recycle, since that would re-set your web site.
Hope that helps.

Chris,
How might I make this app available to your readers?
You can see working example at www.publicpim.org/ria/javeline/
Latest feature is vCard export.

I have a simple web page that loads some custom activeX controls. I know the controls are properly registered on the machine, since I can use them in another application. But, Internet Explorer will not load them. I get the useful white box with the little red X. No other messages.
Is there some way to query or otherwise figure out why the browser did not load the control?
Not that it is particularly relevant, but this is my html code:
<title>New Page
An ActiveX Control:
First control:
<object id="myButton" width="100" height="51
" classid="CLSID:6E59E4DE-CA09-4DEA-8962-365197115712">
<param name="_Version" value="65536" />
<param name="_ExtentX" value="2646" />
<param name="_ExtentY" value="1341" />
<param name="_StockProps" value="0" />

Missing Digital Signature and/or Your ActiveX Security Settings?

Yea, that's what I'm homing in on. In this case, the application is an embedded device, so we're going to run in an unsigned mode. The only trick is figuring out the correct settings.
thanks

Hi,
I am using .NET 1.1 and I am using a regular expression validator control.
I have the following:
ValidationExpression="[\d]{1,4}$"
I need to check that a textbox has anything from 1 to 4 numbers, and numbers only, with no spaces. Will my regular expression cater for it? Year is not reuired, only when there is text in the textbok should it check it.

Shouldn't he be checking for either a 1 digit (leading zero implied), 2 digit or a 4 digit input?
What does the year entry 402 mean?

Hi guys.
I have HTML pages designed in Dreamweaver and some aspx pages designed in VB.Net 2k5.I want to knw if its possible to have a link from the HTML page to the aspx page, without any difficulties.Ive tried and the error pointed me to the IIS server with no clear solutions coz I cudnt find the files to change.
I tried linking from the aspx to HTML in button click, but I get this message
"Server Error--HTTP Error 404 - Not Found.".
Its the configurations on my IIS manager but I cant find where this Allow Extensions tab is.I added my IIS settings.I jus wana knw if its possible to link the two.

This sounds to me more like an issue with how you are testing your html page. In order to test aspx pages, your webpages need to be running under IIS. Dreamweaver allows you to open up the webpages without going anywhere near IIS, and this is probably what is happening. Basically, you need to run them both under http://localhost/<<Web application name>> in order to test them.

That's not the way to run an application under localhost. What you need to do is create a website inside the IIS Manager. This website will map to your directory.
Then, you need to change it to a web-application (in the website properties select the Virtual Directory tab and look at the bit at the bottom where it says application settings - click the Create button beside the Application Name checkbox). In the ASP.NET tab, make sure that the appropriate .NET framework is selected.

Ok, let me first tell you what I am doing and then ill get the specific question out there.
I am trying to write a c++ program ( it has to be c++ for other reasons ) that will send a POST message to a server. Now this post message is normally generated from a form in a web page. This form takes in a complete filename for an xml file. Now my problem is that I don't understand specifically whats going on, and therefor am a little confused of what I need to do exactly. This is that for sending xml over the net through http post, do I put it in there as a text/xml format or am I supposed to turn this into some sort of serialized connection? I have worked with java socket programming a fair amount, and have a basic understanding of c++ socket programming, but I have never tried to send a file through http. Thanks in advance!

So your C++ application accepts a XML file and you wish to upload this to a server using HTTP and a server side script?
You will probably want to search around for articles on making HTTP requests starting with GET and working your way into POST. Uploading files is probably a PITA so if your sending pure XML files why not send them as a HIDDEN field by reading the file contents first then sending them along.
I'm finding the only constant in software development is change it self.
