Hi,
I have the following code declaration:
<asp:CreateUserWizard
ID="CECreateUser"
CancelButtonText="Cancel"
CancelDestinationPageUrl="../../Default.aspx"
CreateUserButtonText="Register"
runat="server">
<WizardSteps>
<asp:WizardStep ID="CECreateUserStep1" runat="server">
<!-- Here I have my custom fields like first, last name, etc. -->
</asp:WizardStep>
<asp:CreateUserWizardStep ID="CECreateUserStep2" runat="server">
<ContentTemplate>
<!-- Here I have my custom login controls -->
</ContentTemplate>
</asp:CreateUserWizardStep>
</WizardSteps>
</asp:CreateUserWizard>
With the CreateUserButtonText="Register" how do I specify an event handler for this button where I can write my own code to add the data to the tables?
Regards

Not sure if this is the right place for this.
My knowledge base is design type stuff, flash / photoshop and so on, but i want to get a
website off the ground, and im confused and a complete novice when it comes to servers.
Should i go the apache /php / sql route - would that be, with a linux server, or could that
work in a windows one, or go microsoft, .net - im not even sure if i have to change things
i do to suit the type server im using. i.e. working in dreamweaver do i have to do things
differently if im on a php/ apache set up rather than a .net set up. And of course there is
the cost issue, as, correct me if im wrong but is .net more (maybe much more) than the other
way. Wow, basically im saying i know NOTHING lol about this issue. Another reason I like
the php/sql/apache way is becasue its all open source and there are lots of scripts out there.

I'm not sure what you are asking. I think you wanna know whether you should use opensource or microsoft technologies.
Window hosting is expensive. but ASP.NET is so powerful to develop the web application within the small amount of budget in short period of time.
Linux hosting is much cheap than window hosting..
For me, I used to use window hosting for client's projects that I have developed. but I didn't develop my own software for my blog. I'm very happy to use workpress for my blog and happy to host my blog on linux hosting..

I have two different Virtual Directories for two folders. I want to Redirect from a page in one folder to another. How do I do this?
|
|
|
|
|
By specifying the external address of the page.
The redirect is done by sending a redirect page to the browser, and the browser will request the new page from the server. Therefore the address has to be an address that the browser can use to reach the page.

Hi
I am new to programming I am coming from a back ground of all Sys Admin / Sys Design. I think I am starting with a simple project but for the life of me I can't find a good place to start.
I have google'd and found many examples both on this web site and others but it seems like I am missing this here and there so I haven't been able to get working what I am trying to do.
Here is what I am trying to get finished for my first learning project
I have a file that I need to post to a https .asp page. The data in the file needs to be sent in Content-Type multipart/form-data. Basic Authorization username:password and it does have a cookie.
I have been following the following example but either I am not creating the project correct or I am missing something.
http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/multipart_request_C_.asp[^]
and the following one
http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/request_SSL_from_C_.asp[^]
When I create this do I create it as a web-site and c# or webservice and c# in VS 2005. Any help or direction on how to complete this or other examples would be great.
Thanks

That doesn't matter. As you are sending a request, not responding to it, you don't need to make a web application at all.
Just make a windows program or a console program, whatever you feel comfortable with.

so what would be the best way to create a console application that I could schedule to run each night to send the payload.
|
|
|
|
|
In that case, you probably want to write a windows service.

Would you be able to point me in a direction to a sample of a service on how to do this or could I take bits and pieces from the examples I posted about in my first post. Again thanks for the direction

Sure - plenty of information on services here[^]

You can either make a service, or just a console application that you run from the scheduler.
I would suggest that you start with a console application in the test phase. It's a simpler form of application, it's easier to start, and you can easily display output.

I need to customize the createuserwizard control to allow additional fields to be inserted into the database (first name, last name, city, state, etc).
I know how I can insert these new fields into a new, separate table however it just makes more sense to insert them into the aspnet_Membership table with the rest of the default fields.
Is this possible or do I have to create a new table (which I personally think is just bad database management and something microsoft should have taken into account when developing the control)?
Thanks.

Hi,
In my form I have 6 check boxes user selects those check boxes and clicks on button. On button click I have to insert those selected checkboxes into database table one row for each check box selection. Without business layer I am able to insert using StringBuilder appending each insert(checkbox selection) and exceuting all inserts with one database call. But I have business layer, I have to fill those business objects and insert values from business objects into database. How to do those multiple inserts with one database call when we are having business layer.
Thanks
|
|
|
|
|
Why do you have to have only one database call? Why can't you fill in and update several business objects from your button handler?
Are you using an ObjectDataSource? I don't recommend it for more complex table updates like this, but if so, you can handle the Inserting event, do whatever logic you need, and set e.Cancel = true so the ObjectDataSource won't actually do the insert (or update).

Hi, I need to send an email from my site and I'm using this code:
<br />
protected void CreateUserWizard1_CreatedUser(object sender, EventArgs e)<br />
{<br />
CreateUserWizard wizard = (CreateUserWizard)sender;<br />
MembershipUser user = Membership.GetUser(wizard.UserName);<br />
<br />
if (user != null)<br />
{<br />
try<br />
{<br />
SmtpClient smtpClient = new SmtpClient("smtpServer");<br />
smtpClient.UseDefaultCredentials = true;<br />
smtpClient.Send("yourEmail", user.Email, "Account Conformation Email",<br />
"localhost/Confirm.aspx?id=" + user.ProviderUserKey.ToString());<br />
}<br />
catch (Exception ex)<br />
{<br />
Label1.Text = ex.Message;<br />
}<br />
}<br />
}
It gives me this kind of exception:
ex = {"The specified string is not in the form required for an e-mail address."}
Could somebody help me?
Thank you

"yourEmail" is not a valid email address. The first parameter should be the from address, not "yourEmail". I also wonder if your smtp server is really called "smtpServer".

What else are you hoping for ? There's no tree control build into .NET, so a third party control is really your only option.

Hi
I have been trying for ages to fill a table with images which have been returned from a database
I removed my session that deals with log in status of the user, but when i removed it allowed all my images to be accessed and displayed in the table
When the user is logged in the session variable is set to yes and it will timeout within 30 mins of inactivity
can anyone tell me of a workaround so that i can still have this session and allow access to my images from this table?
my global.asax file has the following code
<%@ Application Language="VB" %><br />
<br />
<script runat="server"><br />
<br />
<br />
Sub Application_Start(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs)<br />
End Sub<br />
<br />
Sub Application_End(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs)<br />
End Sub<br />
<br />
<br />
Sub Application_Error(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs)<br />
End Sub<br />
<br />
Sub Session_Start(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs)<br />
Session("Loggedin") = ""<br />
Session.Timeout = 30<br />
CheckLoggedIn()<br />
End Sub<br />
<br />
Sub Application_OnPostRequestHandlerExecute()<br />
CheckLoggedIn()<br />
End Sub<br />
<br />
Sub CheckLoggedIn()<br />
If Session("LoggedIn") = "" And InStr(Request.RawUrl, "userLogin.aspx") = 0 Then<br />
Server.Transfer("relogin.aspx?ReturnUrl=adminhome.aspx")<br />
End If<br />
End Sub<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Sub Session_End(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs)<br />
<br />
End Sub<br />
<br />
</script>
