Hello,
My impression is that we often spend a lot of time and power searching ways to prevent people, who do not fit, having access to this forum.
Maybe we can benefit more in searching ways, how to support people who are not able to understand which way to behave "correct"!
This is my comment on the thread of Colin in the Lounge.
My post![^]

My Suggestion from the Lounge:
I like to make a suggestion, which would help to make the forum more multicultural.
Why not give "full trusted" members of CP community the possibility, to write the forum guidelines in their mothers language!
There are a lot of excellent programmers from India (and all over the world), who I'm shure, will be happy to help programming friends in their country.
All the best,
Martin

If newbies actually read instructions, no forum would ever have any off-topic posts.

You have to explain to them [VB coders] what you mean by "typed". their first response is likely to be something like, "Of course my code is typed. Do you think i magically project it onto the screen with the power of my mind?" --- John Simmons / outlaw programmer

Hi Michael,
I think there are ways to make them read instructions, by spoon feeding
and testing. See my earlies message.
Unfortunately I see no way in making them read and try the replies they
get, so some of them keep asking the same questions, completely ignoring
perfect replies.

Sometimes when you reply to a particular thread and the discussion goes that way. Way down, you would find another poster asking a similar query, which has been answered sometime back in the same discussion query.
Now instead of COPY-PASTING the content across the thread, there is a cool PERMALINK that you can use. However, I feel that there is a drawback with the Permalink since it contains full absolute URL. Is it possible to introduce a Bookmark Navigation within the discussion threads. Perhaps CP can try introducing an Auto-Hyperlink to other threads for the same query using a simple AJAX textbox.

really a good idea. Will increase the ease of navigation to many folds.

In the homepage when you mouseover 'Lounge', 'Subtle Bugs' section over the appropriate messages you get a brief message on who posted and at what time right?
But you do not get the tooltips for messages listing below 'Question Time'.

But CPHog is an Internet Explorer AddOn right? My Internet Explorer Administrative Settings does not allow that to be installed.

No, not at all. CPhog is a Greasemonkey script, which is itself a Fire Fox Addon.

This Little shite[^] should have his IP banned permanently. His posts have degenerated into nothing but personal attacks and the occasional troll. Time for him to go. (again?)

Banning his IP won't do anything at all if he has dynamic IP...

Try your best to just ignore him. I don't click on the links that he puts up, and usually don't comment anything he says.

Strange. When I clicked his user profile link that you have given, it loads without any 404 but it does not show any post information?

That's because the account doesn't exist anymore.

Yep. It went bye bye yesterday after he was really getting bad at ranking on people.

Also there is one more missing account these days. The very famous 'Satips' which created furious posts and took the messageboards like a Storm or Tornado. I don't find either Satips or Satips V2 as (Vri SSK ) nowadays.
