Haven't you asked this, today ?
Windows Media Player does not play flash files, at least not without a plugin.

Yes, if you're asking in the C# forum. In ASP.NET, no, of course not - this code can run on the server, not the client.

Hi,
In a FormView's InsertTemplate I'm successfully binding a CheckBox to a property from the ObjectDataSource with the Checked property:
Checked='<%# Bind("WantsGifts") %>'
The problem is that I would also like the have the box checked by default, but I can't set the Checked property to true. How can I do that?

Using VS2005 on XP Pro...
I'm trying to write some code that determines whether or not cookies are blocked in the browser.
The way I'm doing it is to write a cookie and then try to read it back. The problem is that the cookie doesn't get written to the hard drive, so my cookie reading code assumes that cookies are blocked. Here's what I have:
public partial class _Default : CBasePage
{
public string m_cookieWarning;
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
m_cookieWarning = "";
string cookieName = "dummy";
Response.Cookies.Clear();
HttpCookie testCookie = new HttpCookie(cookieName);
testCookie.Value = cookieName;
testCookie.Expires = DateTime.Now.AddMinutes(2);
Response.Cookies.Add(testCookie);
Response.Cookies.Clear();
testCookie = Request.Cookies[cookieName];
if (testCookie == null)
{
m_cookieWarning = "<span>This website requires that cookies be allowed</span>";
}
}
}
Anyone?

I'm unclear how this works with cookies, but cookies exist on the client, so how would this code write a cookie to the client, and read it back to the server, when it's in the middle of a postback ? No round trip has occured at this point, right ? I'd *imagine* ( and again, I'm not sure ), that you'd have to add the cookie, and let the page finish it's lifecycle, and that you'd then have to read the cookie from a subsequent lifecycle. Your code here has cleared the cookies, so I imagine you've added it, and deleted it, all in memory.

So you think I need to do a postback for the reading part?

That is correct. Your code doesn't involve the browser at all, so all you're doing is playing around with a collection on the server.
Also, you should never have such a short expiration time as two minutes. If the visitors clock is off by a few minutes, the cookie will have expired already.

What is the advantage of using forms authentication ? I still uses the classical method of creating sessions and checking it on each page. Is there any different functionality that forms authentication offers ? People really using it ? Or is it only for newbies to create whole website within a week ?
|
|
|
|
|
You have 4 options for authentication:
1) Windows: you connect to the web application as the user you are logged in on your system
2) Forms: you provide user, password for authentication
3) Passport: centralized authentication server
4) none: no authentication
A Session is created for all of them.
Authentication is checked for each request for all of them, too.
Windows authentication is normally only used in Intranet web applications, where as Form Authentication is mostly used in applications that are used over the Internet or when you want a user to log in with a different user that the one he is logged in on his/her system.

how to create diffrent type of graph in .net?
thks
Yesu
|
|
|
|
|
1 - buy the Dundas charts package, it rocks
2 - find a free chart library, they would be adequate
3 - write your own code to draw charts to a bitmap and then push those down to your website
4 - use SVG to draw graphs, but be prepared to push SVG out, hardly anyone has it.

a web service and ASP.NET are mutually exclusive things. ASP.NET serves HTML, a web service does not.
Hareesh.P.R wrote: also how to use it..
This is somewhat disturbing. You wrote something, but you don't know how to use it ?
More info needed, obviously.

Copy your webservice files to server which can be accessed through internet( with a static ip).
Hareesh.P.R wrote: how to use it..
It depends where you are using. If it is a windows application, start a new project, goto webreferences and add reference to your asmx file. Your url would be yourdomain.com/service.asmx . Reference editor will show you methods you have access to the webservice. After adding create object for that and access.
|
|
|
|
|
What u have to do to consume your Webservice in another application is to right click on the solution and select Add Web Reference. if ur Webservice is running or if not pls run it, then copy the path and paste it in the popped up window. Now click on go,give some name and click on Add reference.Thats it done !!!

Write javascript to store the client side Id of the server control. Write code to fire when the check changes, and use that control name to find the control and change it's visibility.

Hi,
I am having a problem with the calendar in asp.net.
Here is the situation.
I have a textbox which will show the date user selected, a button to get the calendar out, the calendar itself and a drop down list which will change the year of the calendar.
It works well that the drop down list is able to change the year of the calendar by:
if (Calendar1.Visible == true)
{
DateTime dtNewDate;
dtNewDate = DateTime.Parse(Convert.ToInt16(this.Calendar1.SelectedDate.Month) + "/" +Convert.ToInt16(this.Calendar1.SelectedDate.Day) + "/" + Convert.ToInt16(ddYear.SelectedItem.Text));
Calendar1.TodaysDate = dtNewDate;
}
The problem is when I change the month of the calendar to another month, when I onSelectedChanged on the drop down list, it doesn't change the year for me any more.
I'd been wondering what was wrong. Btw, I am putting the calendar, textbox and button in the updatePanel and the drop down out side the update panel.
Thanks in advance.
