This is different. you are looking "ASP" string in "ASP" string. And ASP
is using unicode. But my problem is different. I get regular, non unicode string from a control and then attempt to find something in that non unicode string and I can not because in fact under the hood it is looking for
"c 0 c 0 c 0" when in that non unicode string there is "c0c0c0". So how do I tell ASP to use regular strings in comparisons or how do I convert that non unicode string to unicode before searching?

How come the folowing code doesn't work?:
<asp:datalist id="DataList1" runat="server">
<itemtemplate>
<%# Container.DataItem("model") %>
But this code works fine:
<asp:datalist id="DataList1" runat="server">
<itemtemplate>
<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "model") %>
Do you have any ideas???

1st it depends on if you're using ASP classic or ASP.NET The logic is basically the same but the syntax is way different.
If classic then see DateValue() and DateAdd()
If ASP.NET see System.DateTime
The methods in particular are:
Parse()
Add()
AddDays()
AddHours()
AddMilliseconds()
AddMinutes()
AddMonths()
AddSeconds()
AddTicks()
AddYears()
(Take your pick )

I have been using the sample indexserver.asp and modified it a bit, but I can't seem to get "Summary" to work. What I mean by summary is after the Link/URL/File I want a Summary listed below each result so that a searcher can preview each link before clicking on it.
Help. Thank you in advance.

I am not sure which forum CSS questions should go in so I posted it here.
My question is: I have an IFrame and I don't want a border around it. I once saw a CSS style that changed it so the border was the same color as the background.
Thanks if you can help.

You must apply the CSS to the page IN the iframe, not to the iframe tag.
The main frame in IE is the same way... it has the same border around it as that in an iFrame, but if you change the body tag's 'border' attr, it will take the border off.

Thats what I was trying to say (obviously didn't do a good job though )
Thats what I wasn't sure of. Thanks!

Are you looking for the actual css?
Upon rereading that appears to be your question. Sorry if I misunderstood...
If so your looking for
border:1px solid blue;
applied to the body tag.

Can you not do it with an HTML attribute...?
border="0px"
or something...?

I tried body border=0 but it works to do something like body style="border:0"

I haven't used iframe in a long time...so i'l quite rusty...

Sorry i didnt' explain it well enough. the body border didn't work but the body style="border " did.
The iframe doesn't have a border it uses the border of the page that is in it.

Hey folks:
Im new to this .NET development and have not quite yet understood all the magnificent features that .net provides.I am using the ADODB object for database connection and doing things with my SQL server 2000 database.
Now my problem is:-
I have a stored procedure that accepts 8 parameters and runs well in SQL server.But when i try to use it in my ASP page that submits these 8 values according to the WroxBook for ASP i have to definitely define all the 8 parameters using the adodb.command.createParameter.this literally means i need to write the entire ddl for my sql database.
Now is there someway i can by pass this??

You don't have to use ADO parameters. It just makes it a little safer (Type checking, quote catching in strings)
You can use Connection.Execute to execute the stored proc just like in SQL Query analyzer.
Set rst = con.Execute("exec myStored proc " & param1 & "," & param2 & ",'" & VARCHARPAram & "',"...
|
|
|
|
|
If you are connecting to a SQL Server database you really should be using the .NET providers for it not ADO
<br />
SqlConnection sqlConn = new SqlConnection("ConnString");<br />
SqlCommand sqlCmd = new SqlCommand("myproc", sqlConn);<br />
sqlCmd.CommandType = Command.StoredProcedure;<br />
sqlCmd.Parameters.Add("@param1", SqlDbType.Int).Value = 1;<br />
sqlCmd.Parameters.Add("@param2", SqlDbType.VarChar).Value = "1";<br />
<br />
sqlConn.Open();<br />
sqlCmd.ExecuteReader();<br />
sqlConn.Close();<br />
