Hi,
Seems like yours is a web app, not a Windows app; I dont know for these.
I have been using shdocvw.dll (the precursor of WebBorwser) since .NET 1.1 in Win app,
and it shows office documents without dialogs.

If you're talking about how you see it in Explorer, where you single-click on a file, say a JPG, and you see a smalle preview in the Explorer window, then no there isn't.
You'd have to write a parser, and renderer, for every document type you want to support. That's just not feasible.

Hi Dave
Thanks for your response, however i think u should take a look at this link:
http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums/mod/journal/journal.asp?jn=266903&cmonth=11&cyear=2005
Its possible to have thumbnails, also using the WebControl allows u to open most documents effortlessly. Just:
WebControl1.Navigate("c:\book.pdf")
Thanks

Yeah, but for that to work, you have to have something installed that knows what a PDF is and how to render it, like Adobe Acrobat Reader. Without it, the web browser control doesn't know a damn thing about the PDF and can't render it. The same goes for Excel files, Word documents, AutoCad drawings, ...

Hi
I m using VS.NET 2003. I m workling on web application using VB.Net.
Problem is that, when i run the project it takes so much time as compare to other projects of web applications and if i place break point in my application then it does not move line by line after the break point,to continue i have to run it again.
my other web projects are working well but having problem in this mentioned application.
Can anyone know why it is happening?

You have compiled your project in Debug mode, not Release mode, yes?

An unhandled exception of type 'System.StackOverflowException' occurred in system.windows.forms.dll
What can I do for this.

It means a function is calling itself until the stack is full, generally this means a recursive function that does not unwind, or an event is being fired by code that handles that event, so it gets fired over and over

Hi,
a typical bug leading to StackOverfloaException is having a setter property that
references itself rather than a class member with a similar name.
Warning: in VB identifiers are case-insensitive; in other languages (such as C, C++ and C#)
they are case-sensitive; so transfering some property code from say C# to VB is likely
to introduce the above mentioned bug.

Another possibility is if your doing any drawing on your form and not calling Dispose on your GDI objects when you're done with them.
Another is if you're showing forms with ShowDialog and not disposing of the form when your done with it.
... These things will eventually cause OutOfMemory exceptions.

Their is another possiblity of this error. It is the Variable which was assgning is not same datatype of reciving variable. Or Vize versa.
This is solved by converting predefined functions like cint,cdbl,..
But I thing assigning to a variable for multiple times wont show error. In technically the Memory(Variable) will automatically clear n store or replace the old values...

Hi,
if you ask for processes, you get processes.
a process has zero, one, or more windows; some of them may be open and visible.
If you want windows, ask for windows; that would take P/Invoke and the functions
EnumWindows and even EnumChildWindows in user32.dll

Hi,
if you never used P/Invoke before, EnumWindows is not good for a first experience !
But if you did, search the documentation; look in MSDN, CodeProject and Google.
also www.pinvoke.net may help you.

Some operation depend on the system date ..
and if user changed it ,,, it's a disadvantage ...
then how can I prevent it ?
jooooo

you can poll it to see if it has been changed. If you can write code that sets the time, then you can change it back. I am certain you cannot stop a user changing it.

Like Christian said, you cannot really prevent the user from changing the time on his/her machine, however, if your app requires some operation that is sensitive to time change, you might want to consider getting the time from an off machine source such as another machine on the network or a time server...
