HI,
I have an ASP form, and I want to make it so that if you click on an "Add Follow-Up" button, a text box gets added to a table. I then want what ever the user puts in that text box to be saved when the submit button is pressed.
My problem is that while I can create that text button the first time the Add Follow-up button is pressed, I can't save it to the database. When stepping through the code, it looks like there's nothing in the placeholder controls. (The followup textbox is added to a placeholder so I can get it to go where I want it to.)
Is there any way to save this information to the database when pressing the Submit button?
Thanks,
Muntyness

Did you check the contents of Request.Form[""] or Request.Params[""]

Well I have now. *cough*
Thanks.
Can you think of any way of doing this for multiple new follow-ups?
(I can think of a way of doing it with multiple old follow-ups, mainly by using whatever ID they have in the database as the ID for the textbox, and then when submitting the form, getting all of the IDs from an array, then looping through the array to get the information for the old followups from the text boxes and updating the database if needed. Of course if you know of a better way, I'd be happy to use it.)
For new followups, I can only think of how to add 1 at a time, and I would prefer to be able to add multiple new ones if possible. (And I can't submit them to the database when adding new followups, as I need a ID which won't be generated until the entire form is submitted.)
Thanks,
Muntyness

To understand the problem clearly, you need to look through ASP.NET page life cycle. ViewState is stored and loaded in Init event. So all dynamic controls created after Init event won't maintain any viewstate. This is what you are not getting the control on postback.
You need to find some other alternative like creating control on Init event.

Oops! Remember ViewState is going to travel up and down in the hidden field called __VIEWSTATE and this is going to present your webpage significant delays in rendering.

ViewState["key"] = Object
Remember viewstate is stored as hidden field in the page. So each time page posts, this viewstate will also posted. This will increase HTML file size. It's not good to store large objects in viewstate. Is your address class object is serializable ?

Using commandprompt you can do this.

Hi,
I want to copy these assemblies to my bin directory, so that i can upload them to my remote server using FTP. I am not sure this can help me but just a try
*** My actual problem is When i uploaded my web site (to remote server) containing Crystal reports it is showing the following error
Parser Error Message: Could not load file or assembly 'CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine, Version=10.2.3600.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
Please let me know if any one know how to resolve it.

Yes that is what I shown there. Go to that directory, use DOS commands to perform copy.

CrystalReports will always be looking for assemblies in GAC I think. We had the similar problem and rectified by copying assemblies to GAC of server. You can try that. I don't think that copying these assemblies to your application bin will solve this problem.

The most probable culprit is the ItemTemplate that you might have defined misses a proper TR.

Hi, I get the exception "ASP.NET is not authorized to access the requested resource" exception when I tried to display my file that resides in a folder in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\. The article on how to resolve this problem gave the following instructions
To grant ASP.NET write access to a file, right-click the file in Explorer, choose "Properties" and select the Security tab. Click "Add" to add the appropriate user or group. Highlight the ASP.NET account, and check the boxes for the desired access.
The problem is I can not find the Security tab. I don't see any of the things that they say will show up when I right click Properties. What am I doing wrong, thank you in advance for your help.
