Why do you wanna pass the whole control to web service? it is very very very strange to me. For me, I used to create the web service as the business layer for my project. We used to pass the normal types (int, string) or custom serialized object only. (not the control) In your case, I think it might be okay if you pass the DataSet or Datatable instead of UltraWebGrid control..
Another suggestion is that if you are using some thirty-party controls (eg: UltraWebGrid or CompoentOne or etc ), it would be the best way to ask to their support teams. Since you are one of the customer for them, you will give you more accurate answer and best solution in short time. It's just a suggestion. I believe that there might be some developers who are using thirty-party controls.

I know it says forums, but I don't see any posts on ASP.NET. Someone else told me you can maybe post questions under an asp:Menu section to be more specific.

Hi guys,
I'm developing my website and I'd like to make it available in more than one language.
Do you know any good method to be able to display txt in the user's selected language ?
My host is running Linux, MySQL & supports PHP, so I've thought of using some sort of "marker/link" instead of directly putting the txt in the HTML page, with a request to the DB which would retrieve the appropriate txt depending on which language the user has previously chosen.
Any thoughts?

It's very easy to do with ASP.NET. (ASP.NET 2.0 supports custom culture for those languages that doesn't have as build-in in Windows. eg: burmese)
but it's sad to say that the host that you bought won't supports ASP.NET and the most of us here are ms guys. So, I'm not sure how to globalize in PHP. I know one good reference. This is Wordpress PHP blogging tool[^]. This blogging software is completely written in PHP and it supports multi-languages.
Or, If you don't want to spend your time for exploring wordpress code then it's better if you ask about this in PHP forum..

You can find a couple methods at the following Link.
Basically you have a form, you have a file upload control, before you continue execution you check the postedfile filename's extension (i.e: Last 3 indices).

Hi,
I have developed function to drag image within a page which is as below:
function move(){
if (dragok){
moveImg.style.left = dx + event.clientX - x + "px";
moveImg.style.top = dy + event.clientY - y + "px";
return false;
}
}
/*function down(e){
dragok = true;
document.onmousemove = move;
return false;
} */
function up(){
dragok = false;
//if(moveImg)
//{
moveImg.style.left = 0 + "px";
moveImg.style.top = 0 + "px";

//srcImg.style.zIndex = "0";
}
var movePos;
var oldPos;
var newPos;
function doMouseDrag(pos)
{
dragok = true;
movePos = pos;
oldPos = document.getElementById("cp"+pos).value;
var temp = document.getElementById("snapshotArea"+movePos);
srcImg = document.getElementById("snapshotImg"+movePos);
//temp.style.zIndex = "-100";
//srcImg.style.zIndex = "-100";
moveImg = temp;
dx = parseInt(moveImg.style.left);
dy = parseInt(moveImg.style.top);
x = event.clientX;
y = event.clientY;
//window.scrollBy(100,200);
}
function doMouseDrop(pos)
{
dragok = false;
newPos = document.getElementById("cp"+pos).value;
if(newPos == oldPos)
return;
if(newPos > oldPos)

Parts of your code is not showing. Use the "Ignore HTML" option when you are posting code that contains < characters, or use the formatting tools to insert the html code for it where it appears. (This is a common problem because of the awkward way that this forum handles posts with html code.)
What do you mean by "not working"?
What happens when you run the code? Do you get any error messages? (Open the Error Console to see Javascript error message in Firefox.)

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
Actually I want to drag image in my browser in such a way that I am creating a new image(div) and drag it to the destination.
here is my function for creating a copy of a div
function doMouseDrag(pos)
{
dragok = true;
movePos = pos;
oldPos = document.getElementById("cp"+pos).value;
temp = document.getElementById("sources");
srcImg = document.getElementById("snapshotImg"+movePos);
moveImg = document.createElement("IMG");
moveImg.id = 'mImg';
moveImg.src = srcImg.src;
moveImg.style.position = "absolute";
moveImg.style.zIndex = "-100000000";
moveImg.style.left = 350+"px";
moveImg.style.top =(oldPos * 155)+150+"px";
moveImg.style.width = "108px";
moveImg.style.height = "80px";
moveImg.style.marginRight = "10px";
moveImg.style.border = "1px #CCC solid";
temp.appendChild(moveImg);
dx = parseInt(moveImg.style.left);
dy = parseInt(moveImg.style.top);
}
This code works fine only in IE but not working in FireFox and also it gives no error for that.
Please help me.
Thanks again
James

What do you mean by "not working"?
If you really mean that the code should create a copy of a div, that is your problem, as the code doesn't do that. It creates a copy of an image.
If you mean that the code should create a copy of an image, it does that, and it works just fine in Firefox.

Can you please tell me????

No, I can't tell you. I don't know what's wrong with your code, as you never told me what you mean by "not working", what's happening when you run the code, or if you got any error messages. I'm trying to help you, but my mind reading capabilities are a bit weak at the moment.

It's very strange code. movePos is the postion of mouse move? So, you have such a image called snapshotImg1.2 or snapshotImg1020 ??
James_Programmer wrote: oldPos =
document.getElementById("cp"+pos).value;
what is "cp"?? image or div or what?
Have you tried the following sample?
How to Drag and Drop in JavaScript[^]
JavaScript: DHTML API,
Drag & Drop for Images and Layers[^]
Draggable [^]
It's a lit bit difficult for us to help you as long as you are not giving the code which is working in Firefox (as you said). now, you are just giving some pieces of code that doesn't complete.
Show us the compeleted code that you said that it's working in firefox. What we will do first is that we will copy and paste your code in notepage. Save it as html file. then check whether it is working fine on firefox or not. If it's working fine, we will look which element are not compatibles with IE. then, we will let you know the result..
Sound okay??
Thanks and Regards,

C++ programmer exclusively. Have not done any web development at all. From what I've read today, Flex is THE way to go for client side UI development. I downloaded the Flex SDK, and it looks like there's nothing equivalent to a GDI+ TextureBrush, at least not for text. In Flex, it looks like all you can do with text is change the color, not render it with some arbitrary bitmap as a texture. (There are skins, but not for text). Is that the case? Anything equivalent to Flex in terms of comprehensiveness, portability and ease of use that *does* have this capability?

That depends entirely on what the UI should do. I believe that in the foreseeable future most web pages will still be just plain web pages.

Flex is limited by the capabilitles of the Flash player, so it's possible you can't do it that way. It's possible to accompish the same effect in flash by using a text layer as mask to reveal a bitmap in the underlying layer. That should be possible to do in Flex also.

You might want to take a look at Micorsoft's "flashkiller" Silverlight. I don't know if it's better for exactly what you are doing, but it sure doesn't hurt to know a little bit about it.
