Hi i created a simple web site for my gp practice. It has a guestbook feature which stores the entries into a table in MS access d.b. (form.mdb). the web site also has admin section , which i log into to view d.b. entries ,(username and password is kept in another table in the d.b.)
I discovered that someone has been hacking into my d.b using SQL
injection. they actually had the nerve to tell me what they were using.
would anyone know how to prevent such an attack?
My ISP is webfusion professional.

Can you not password protect the database and encrypt all of the connection details?

Hi,
I'm not much of a programmer, how would i do this? Password protect in Access?
|
|

Whoa! Been a while. Something like Tools, Security. There are some options under there that will help: at the very least set a password and REMEMBER IT (AFAIK there is no longer any way to recover a forgotten Access password). I suggest a brief RTFM around this and then you should be able to protect your database from prying idiots. You should also consider protecting your connection strings. Consider asking your web host for specific advice: they should be willing to help.

Setting a password on the database is good, but that doesn't do anything at all to protect against SQL injection.
Read the article that Andy linked to.

You don't. Place them on the page in order of preference; in other words anything in the last file will take precedence over a file declared earlier as will any declaration you make in each file. Further if you have, for instance, markup like this:
...label cssclass="second first"...
The css in first will override anything similar in second. So second says that the text color should be red but first says it should be blue then first will win.
If you only want to use a css file depending on circumstances then you could do something like: (in master page)
<br />
private void CreateMetaTags()<br />
{<br />
HtmlMeta htmlMeta = null;<br />
HtmlHead htmlHead = (HtmlHead)Page.Header;<br />
<br />
htmlHead.Title = ApplicationAttributes.AssemblyTitle;<br />
<br />
htmlMeta = new HtmlMeta();<br />
htmlMeta.Name = "Content-Type";<br />
htmlMeta.Content = "text/html; charset=utf-8";<br />
htmlHead.Controls.Add(htmlMeta);<br />
<br />
htmlMeta = new HtmlMeta();<br />
htmlMeta.Name = "Description";<br />
htmlMeta.Content = ApplicationAttributes.AssemblyTitle;<br />
htmlHead.Controls.Add(htmlMeta);<br />
<br />
htmlMeta = new HtmlMeta();<br />
htmlMeta.Name = "Keywords";<br />
htmlMeta.Content = ApplicationAttributes.AssemblyTitle;<br />
htmlHead.Controls.Add(htmlMeta);<br />
<br />
string strStyle = @"~/CSS/Screen.css";<br />
HtmlLink htmlLink = new HtmlLink();<br />
htmlLink.Attributes.Add("rel", "stylesheet");<br />
htmlLink.Attributes.Add("type", "text/css");<br />
htmlLink.Attributes.Add("media", "screen");<br />
htmlLink.Href = strStyle;<br />
htmlHead.Controls.Add(htmlLink);<br />
<br />
strStyle = @"~/CSS/Print.css";<br />
htmlLink = new HtmlLink();<br />
htmlLink.Attributes.Add("rel", "stylesheet");<br />
htmlLink.Attributes.Add("type", "text/css");<br />
htmlLink.Attributes.Add("media", "print");<br />
htmlLink.Href = strStyle;<br />
htmlHead.Controls.Add(htmlLink);<br />
<br />
htmlLink = new HtmlLink();<br />
htmlLink.Attributes.Add("rel", "shortcut icon");<br />
htmlLink.Attributes.Add("type", "image/x-icon");<br />
htmlLink.Href = @"~/Images/favicon.ico";<br />
htmlHead.Controls.Add(htmlLink);<br />
}<br />
but put a condition on when you add whichever style sheet you need. In the example above I have one stylesheet for the screen and one for when I print the page that hides unwanted elements, but only if printed.
Hope that all makes sense.

1: Firstly, choose to learn to write English correctly. Txt spk z 4 mbs, not when you are asking for advice since the meaning may not come across as clearly as you intended.
2: Both have a future. You need to decide either which you prefer or which will make you the better living over a period of time. I chose .Net because I've almost always used Microsoft products, more by accident than design. However, I would have been just as happy using Java or whatever would have made me a living.
3: Perhaps you could try to get a job using one or the other or create a project and see which one you get on best with.
4: There is no right or wrong answer to your question, I'm afraid, you simply need to make a choice and stick with it though it's a good idea to become proficient in more than one language or you could find yourself to niche to hire.
Good luck.

Check out Hewitt Packer (HP). They are leading the pack. They just passed Dell and IBM. Who is next on their list? Don't trust me. Research it.

I don't think you need XSL to do that. The browser itselft already handles this part..
