I forgot to ask: How exactly did you move the files to wwwroot? You need to make a web sharing on the folder where you have your files. This will make IIS see your application as a web application.

With an asp.net application?
You would need administrative access (at a domain level) and you could get to the C$ share on networked pcs.

Thanks for your immediate reply.
Ya, i need to do it with asp.net application at first.. if not possible with it ,then can go for vb.net..
AS per your reply , does it mean that i need to give access right of administrrator to my asp.net application ?. How can i do this ?
Can u pls explain it with a sample code ..? It would be a better one...
I need to access any folder on any drive .. it may be C$, or D$ or E$..
Thanks,

You should think carefully about what you are doing. Granting domain administrative rights to your ASP.net application is not exactly good practice.
Additionally, looking for all files on all drives in a whole company and seeing what has changed is going to be a slow process.
Why is it that you need to track these changes? Would it maybe be better to install something on all client pc's that logs the changes they are making to a central location?
|
|
|
|
|
see, i need to watch out for any updates on on specific folder in pc.
and based on this i want to move, or add this file to some other application.
As per you how can i make such applicaiton and deploy on client and track changes to central location?
Can u provide me sample code project for the same ?
Thanks

thanks, I have already tried another project like this,. But i found that this works with only thoes files and folders which are shared across the network. It does not recognizing other folders..
I want , i should be able to scan throuhg folders of files across the network which are not shared with some admin super authority..
Pls. do reply if you found other solutions which satisfy my requirement.
Thanks,

Yes, but if you deploy something like this on each client to watch their directories and then update some central repository, it would work, no?

Hi,
You can access the value of control of another page if the page is Previous Page by creating the object of the Previous Page and then findcontrol whose value you want to access.

I don't think creating the object of another class and then assiging values to its control is proper
From my point of view put that value in QueryString/ViewState/Session
That's why we have these techniques with us ...
What you think ?
Thanks and Regards

page2.aspx.cs to Page2.aspx ? What do you mean by this ? page2.aspx.cs is just separating code from design page. When execution it won't be considered as two pages.

I'm afraid you need to read a book on ASP.NET. Your other page doesn't actually exist unless you've done a cross page postback. ASP.NET just doesn't work that way. Each page is created when you navigate to it, and when you navigate to another, it's lost.
Ravindra Mahaseth wrote: assigning the text property of the textbox1 in page2.aspx from the page2.aspx.cs.
textbox1.Text = "blah"; will do that, but I assume you meant to say page1.aspx.cs ?
Ravindra Mahaseth wrote: but not been able to instantiate the class.
Even if you did, it would have no bearing on the instance of the class which contains the data you're looking for.
