Why not try with Bluetooth?

What's the range and stability i can get with a bluetooth network? The kind of data i'm trying to transmit will be small amounts of bytes everytime the PDA user clicks the send button.

Generally Bluetooth has a range of 10 meters (33 feet). Some dekstop adapters may actually support more, but you will be limited to the range of the device Bluetooth hardware.

Hi all,
I have an ASP.Net 2.0 application that my customers use. I now have the need to allow my customers to connect via their PDAs. Just one ASP.Net page is involved here. This page has a Gridview control and the user can enter some info which updates a SQL table. The gridview has some textboxes where the user can change some values. Pretty standard stuff. So I made the gridview real small so that it will fit on a PDA. Everything works except that my textboxes are very wide. I tried making the width small but no luck. But other properties like font=bold, font-size, forecolor, etc. I can change and these change do appear on the PDA. But everything I try to make the width small fails. It is very frustrating since this will perfectly if I can just get these darn widths correct! I know there is a mobile framework and special controls just for mobile devices. But that would require me to write a new web page and learn about these new controls. I was hoping I could salvage my existing web page. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Bob

I created a web page for the purpose of learning about the ObjectList control. The list items are not displaying after I add a Footer Template via the designer (they display fine if I don't use a footer...autogenerate is set to 'no'). Am I required to use an Item Template if I use a Footer Template? Also, can anyone recommend a good book for building mobile web apps with VS 2005? My code is below:
Note: ObjectList control displays paging information for service call paging and acknowledgement.
<mobile:Form id="Form1" runat="server">
<mobile:Label ID="Label1" Runat="server" Alignment="Center">Unacknowledged Notices</mobile:Label>
<mobile:ObjectList ID="NoticeList" Runat="server" Alignment="Left"
CommandStyle-StyleReference="subcommand"
OnItemCommand="Notice_OnItemCommand" LabelField="PageID" AutoGenerateFields="False"
LabelStyle-StyleReference="title">
<Command Name="Acknowledge" Text="Acknowledge" />
<DeviceSpecific>
<Choice Xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/mobile/html32template">
<FooterTemplate>
<mobile:Label ID="Label4" Runat="server">My Footer</mobile:Label>
</FooterTemplate>
</Choice>
</DeviceSpecific>
<Field DataField="PageID" Title="PageID" />
<Field DataField="SourceID" Title="SourceID" />
<Field DataField="EscLevel" Title="EscLevel" />
<Field DataField="NoticeDtTm" Title="NoticeDtTm" />
</mobile:ObjectList>
</mobile:Form>
.
.
.
Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
If (Not IsPostBack) Then
Dim array As New ArrayList
' test data
array.Add(New Notice("00323110", "no source", "E2", "08/13/07", "test 1"))
array.Add(New Notice("00323221", "no source", "E1", "08/14/07", "test 2"))
array.Add(New Notice("00324001", "no source", "E2", "08/14/07", "test 3"))
NoticeList.DataSource = array
NoticeList.DataBind()
NoticeList.TableFields = "PageID;NoticeDtTm;SourceID"
End If
End Sub
Thanks.

I believe you can hook your device up to your PC and install the latest .net CF. Otherwise, you may have to contact your OEM about upgrading the CF

Hi
I have following scenario:
1. Form 1 has a treeview control on it.
2. Treeview control is populated with nodes.
>> How to:
3. When a user taps a stylus on the tree node. The need is to get the x,y coordinates of the stylus position.
4. I can get the stylus position on the Form 1, But when I try to capture the stylus position on the treeview control, could not find a way.
5. This is needed to show the Node Specific Context Menu. Like one menu for Parent and another one for the child nodes.
Help !!

I'm sorry I can't help you.
But I would be interested in how you get the CursorPosition in the Form at all.
I want to draw a line on a Bitmap Graphic from a Point to the position of the cursor.
In .net Framework System.Windows.Forms.Cursor.Position should work.
But I use .net compact on Windows Mobile, where the property Position doesnt seem to exist.
Pls help me.

Hi
I have an interesting problem here, and looking a way out of it:
1. I have three forms in my PPC application.
2. Form 2, has a webbrowser control in it: On a button click:
private void menuItem2_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
//Load the the Login page.
String uritest = "https://login.abc.com";
Uri test = new Uri(uritest);
webBrowser1.Navigate(test);
menuItem2.Text = "Please Wait";
}
3. Form 2, Then there is Document completed event:
private void webBrowser1_DocumentCompleted(object sender,
WebBrowserDocumentCompletedEventArgs e)
{
//Return URL from abc.com, gives me a authentication Key
Uri ttt = webBrowser1.Url;
String trial = ttt.AbsoluteUri;
if (trial.StartsWith("http://"))
{
//Do Something with Authentication Key.
}
}
4. Now I wish to call this Form 2 webBrowser1 control in next form that is Form 3.
5. Form 3, I wish to call the webBrowser1 here. Further the need is to refresh the url "https://login.abc.com". So that a new authentication Key can be retrieved from the "https://login.abc.com".
How this can be achieved in Form 3?
Regards
Arun

Hi All!
I have simple application running under Windows CE 4.2, using compact framework 1.0 SP3.
There are two timers (threads) operating in the program which read/manipulate a common variable of type integer. To prevent critical section collisions I am using the Threading.Monitor.Enter / Exit methods to acquire and release a lock on the variable in question.
The Enter method call works. The Exit method call throws an exception, and I don't know why.
Here is a sample chunk of code.
<br />
Public Class FormMain<br />
Inherits System.Windows.Forms.Form<br />
#Region " Windows Form Designer generated code "<br />
<br />
Public Sub New()<br />
<br />
MyBase.New()<br />
<br />
'This call is required by the Windows Form Designer.<br />
InitializeComponent()<br />
<br />
'Add any initialization after the InitializeComponent() call<br />
<br />
End Sub<br />
<br />
'Form overrides dispose to clean up the component list.<br />
Protected Overloads Overrides Sub Dispose(ByVal disposing As Boolean)<br />
MyBase.Dispose(disposing)<br />
End Sub<br />
<br />
'NOTE: The following procedure is required by the Windows Form Designer<br />
'It can be modified using the Windows Form Designer. <br />
'Do not modify it using the code editor.<br />
Friend WithEvents inputTimer As System.Windows.Forms.Timer<br />
Friend WithEvents outputTimer As System.Windows.Forms.Timer<br />
<br />
Private Sub InitializeComponent()<br />
Me.inputTimer = New System.Windows.Forms.Timer<br />
Me.outputTimer = New System.Windows.Forms.Timer<br />
'<br />
'inputTimer<br />
'<br />
Me.inputTimer.Enabled = True<br />
'<br />
'outputTimer<br />
'<br />
Me.outputTimer.Enabled = True<br />
Me.outputTimer.Interval = 500<br />
<br />
Me.Text = "Threads"<br />
<br />
End Sub<br />
<br />
Public Shared Sub Main()<br />
Application.Run(New FormMain)<br />
End Sub<br />
<br />
#End Region<br />
<br />
Private _inputs As Integer = 0<br />
<br />
Private Sub inputTimer_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles inputTimer.Tick<br />
Try<br />
Threading.Monitor.Enter(_inputs)<br />
<br />
_inputs += 1<br />
<br />
Threading.Monitor.Exit(_inputs)<br />
Catch ex As Exception<br />
MsgBox(ex.Message)<br />
End Try<br />
End Sub<br />
<br />
Private Sub outputTimer_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles outputTimer.Tick<br />
Try<br />
Threading.Monitor.Enter(_inputs)<br />
<br />
_inputs = 0<br />
<br />
Threading.Monitor.Exit(_inputs)<br />
Catch ex As Exception<br />
MsgBox(ex.Message)<br />
End Try<br />
End Sub<br />
End Class<br />
So if you can tell me what I am doing wrong in the .Net Compact Framework, I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
j.

Do you want to establish a gprs connection with C# or VB.Net?
