Sir,
I've a web application project
And i've created my menu(Dropdown menu) in JavaScript and i'm using this menu in my project and this menu running great But in one web page i've to use a "Dropdown List" tool just below the Javascript dropdown menu and then this Javascript dropdown menu being hidden after the "Dropdown List" so plz let me know how my Javascript should not be hidden in my web page
The same problem also arise with the flash file and Javascript Dropdown menu
but i solved that problem by.............
<param name="wmode" value="Transparent" />
<embed ...wmode="Transparent" .......="" />
Thnx ......
But now try to understand more...........

Ok, now it's much clearer but let me wrap up to see if I understand it well. You have a drop down menu in Javascript and on the same page just under the menu, you have a drop down list. The drop down list is hiding the drop down menu, meaning the menu is being rendered behind the list.
Is this correct?
Have you looked at the z-index in the styles? maybe you can make the drop down list render to the back by changing the z-index: greater number for the drop down menu and smaller number for the drop down list. Check this site: http://www.w3schools.com/css/pr_pos_z-index.asp[^]

Is there an elegant solution where I can include a list of strings to be queried using a SELECT statement with the IN operator, for instance,
SELECT * FROM [Operation] WHERE [Ack] = @Ack AND [AckFlag] = @AckFlag AND [Terminal] IN ('item1', 'item2', 'item3')
I tried substituting the list with a variable like this,
SELECT * FROM [Operation] WHERE [Ack] = @Ack AND [AckFlag] = @AckFlag AND [Terminal] IN (@terminals)
And later in some _Load event I replaced the text, @terminals, with a list I generated from iterating a check box list of checked items. Well it does work this way, but it causes some side-effects, namely not datakeys are associated to the gridview datakeys property which should have been there if it was a normal sql statement with parameters assigned nicely at design time.
I hope somebody out there has a more elegant solution before I attempt trying to programmatically perform string operations on a SqlDataSource object through its SqlCommand property.
Thanks.

First I have had some problems with datakeys myself. It seems any time you try to manually set a parameter in the object datasource the datakeys go away, which is very bad. So I use a template column with a label that contains the key and the label is marked as visible=false. That seems to work pretty good for me.
Next you should probably be calling a stored procedure. Pass in your delimited list into a input parameter in the stored procedure. Then if you use this function you can join to your delimted list passed in:
CREATE FUNCTION [dbo].[fnSplit](@sText varchar(max), @sDelim varchar(20) = ' ')
RETURNS @retArray TABLE (idx smallint IDENTITY(1,1) Primary Key, value varchar(max))
AS
BEGIN
DECLARE
@value varchar(8000),
@bcontinue bit,
@iStrike smallint,
@iDelimlength tinyint
IF @sDelim = 'Space'
BEGIN
SET @sDelim = ' '
END
SET @sText = LTrim(RTrim(@sText))
SET @iDelimlength = DATALENGTH(@sDelim)
SET @bcontinue = 1
IF NOT ((@iDelimlength = 0) or (@sDelim = 'Empty'))
BEGIN
WHILE @bcontinue = 1 BEGIN
--If you can find the delimiter in the text, retrieve the first element and
--insert it with its index into the return table.
IF CHARINDEX(@sDelim, @sText)>0 BEGIN
SET @value = SUBSTRING(@sText,1, CHARINDEX(@sDelim,@sText)-1)
INSERT @retArray(value) VALUES (@value)
--Trim the element and its delimiter from the front of the string.
--Increment the index and loop.
SET @iStrike = DATALENGTH(@value) + @iDelimlength
SET @sText = LTrim(Right(@sText,DATALENGTH(@sText) - @iStrike))
END ELSE BEGIN
--If you can't find the delimiter in the text, @sText is the last value in
--@retArray.
SET @value = @sText
INSERT @retArray (value) VALUES (@value)
--Exit the WHILE loop.
SET @bcontinue = 0
END
END
END ELSE BEGIN
WHILE @bcontinue=1 BEGIN
--If the delimiter is an empty string, check for remaining text
--instead of a delimiter. Insert the first character into the
--retArray table. Trim the character from the front of the string.
--Increment the index and loop.
IF DATALENGTH(@sText)>1 BEGIN
SET @value = SUBSTRING(@sText,1,1)
INSERT @retArray (value) VALUES (@value)
SET @sText = SUBSTRING(@sText,2,DATALENGTH(@sText)-1)
END ELSE BEGIN
--One character remains.
--Insert the character, and exit the WHILE loop.
INSERT @retArray (value) VALUES (@sText)
SET @bcontinue = 0
END
END
END
RETURN
END
So then your code would look like:
SELECT * FROM [Operation] o
join fnsplit( @terminals, ',') t on o.Terminal = t.value
WHERE [Ack] = @Ack AND [AckFlag] = @AckFlag
I am assuming that your comma delimiting your list.
Anyway, I hope that helps.

Do you (can you?) have title of a.aspx in resources? You can get it from there.

Hello Friend,
You must have FileZilla or any other software to upload your project over Internet.............
If you have Enter Your I.P.Address,User, and Password in the appropriate places and click to connect
Now you will find a Folder named "wwwroot"
Open your "wwwroot" and drag all files of your project in this folder
and Thus your uploading goes on....................

Now I want field(3) to field(7) calculate a sum into field(8). In this process how to manage in UPDATE Queries.
Note that: some times I want sum from field(4) to field(6) into field(7)

Hrrmmm... Also a quite readable question... However, i'll give it a shot...
What do you think about creating a trigger which will add those columns and store the values in a diffrent field??
UPDATE table set field8 = field3 + field4... ... + field8 FROM A, INSERTED B WHERE A.RecordId = B.RecordId
or something quite close to that

Define 'sometimes' ??

Good day everybody...
I am facing a problem with ASP.Net when trying to update information by clicking Edit on Grid View. I didn’t do anything with the code. I used only the build in functionality of Grid View, but it give me an error which is
"ObjectDataSource 'ODSIPAddress' could not find a non-generic method 'UpdateQuery' that has parameters: OrgCode, Original_OrgCode, original_IPAddress."
Moreover, I create new update statement to do the updating, but also do not work. This is happing only in updating. I don’t know If I am missing some thing or what???
In addition, I tried my query and test it and it is working fine inside, but not in Grid View.
Thanks a lot.

What's the signature of the method your ObjectDataSource calls on an Update? Parameters?

You will have to associate the update command with the method that handles the updated, in this case there are OrgCode, Original_OrgCode, original_IPAddress parameters which i assume a textbox.
Just associate the method at run time
or even you can have the datasource attached with updatecommand in the following manner
UpdateCommand="UPDATE Organisation SET OrgCode= @OrgCode,
Original_OrgCode= @Original_OrgCode, original_IPAddress=@original_IPAddress WHERE someId=@someId"
I have just created an example sql statement you can replace it with the original statement

Thank you my brothers for your help, but I am new in this field if you could be more clear and here what I have.
In my Grid View I have 3 parameters:
1- IPAddressID (primary key) int not mull (cannot be updated (auto generated)).
2- OrgCode int not null (a dropdownlist that is taken from another table).
3- IPAddress varchar(50) not null (textbox).
Here is the error I am getting:
ObjectDataSource 'ODSIPAddress' could not find a non-generic method 'UpdateQuery' that has parameters: OrgCode, IPAddress, original_IPAddressID, Original_OrgCode, Original_IPAddress.
Here is the query that I am using for updating in the dataobject:
UPDATE DHS_IPAddress
SET OrgCode = @OrgCode, IPAddress = @IPAddress
WHERE (IPAddressID = @Original_IPAddressID) AND (OrgCode = @Original_OrgCode) AND (IPAddress = @Original

Let me ask you again: what's the signature of your Update method (UpdateQuery)? Post it here because your problem lies in the parameters to this method. One of OrgCode, IPAddress, original_IPAddressID, Original_OrgCode, Original_IPAddress is missing.

I am using the ASP.Net property (the build in update that comes with the GridView itself). I didn't write any query because when we use the GridView, the update comes with it because it is one of its property.
|
|
|
|
|
I'd thought you use your own ObjectDataSource because the exception message said so.

Then, I tried to use my own ObjectDataSource which refer to the table wanted. I created new update method (which you can choose it from the window that ask you which method you want to do such as DELETE, INSERT UPDATE and etc…) I chose UPDATE to be generated by the system.
Thanks for your help.

I think that this topic is pretty wide to cover.
I suggest you to give a try "Microsoft Indexing Service"..
OR Google it "Internal Search Engine"[^]
