hi,
anyone out there know how can i display "interactive map" in my application.
exclude google map, yahoo map, virtual earth..because they dont provide
enough zoom level in my area.
i need to build an application that has map and user can zoom to street level,
find path, etc...
i think my only solution is to put my own map..but how can i apply the interactivity
to users...
any solution anyone??? please help...??? desperate!!

Just one question though.
You were saying that i need to maintain a separate database and need to store the brand id rather than the url of the image.
Say if i have 1,00,0000 images and each image has more links ,
how can i maintain the same in SQL?
Also when i retrieve the links for each category, wont the process be slow? Is there any way where i can perform all operations on the backend (maybe a stored procedure) and retrieve only the result as a string in asp.net

I am not getting you fully. Why I suggested you to store the ID instead of storing images is to reduce the storage space. If you can't maintain it in such a way what I suggested, you can store the URL.

Yes, process will be slow on searching all these records. So you need to use some alternative solution. How about maintaining another table that won't repeat the image names but will contain all unique image names from the visited history table.
Assume in your visitor table, you are storing the image url. So each time user visits the same page also rows will increase. Searching inside this table would be a costly operation. So you can copy the unique image urls and the total count got for the particular image to the new table. Your new table would contain imageurl and total views.
On your page you can search in this second table which will be less cost. To improve performance use indexing for your table. This can boost your select query performance. Filling second table from history table can be scheduled using SQL Server jobs.

Hey all
Im trying to create a very simple forum where people can basically just post comments.
Ive tried countless tutorials and downloaded many source codes but everything is either:
1: in c# and not VB script
2: In an old VB version and wont convert correctly or...
3: requires a remote connection to a server...this is impossible for me as its a project for university and the network settings dont allow this.
So can anybody PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE point me to a good article or source code download or something..? I need it to not be C#...and like i said...it can be very very simple.
please help

But have you tried to search guestbook source code?
If you just want users to post comments, a guestbook is
nothing else.

If you need a very simple application where user's can post comments, why don't you create one instead of looking for tutorials.
1 - Which language you are familiar to ?
2 - Which database you are familiar to ?
If it is VB.NET and SQLServer
1 - You need to use SQLConnection. SQLCommand classes
2 - You need a connection string that connects with DB
3 - For inserting into database, Initialize SQLConnection class, Write query to SQlCommand class instance, Use SQLCommand's ExecuteNonQuery() method
4 - For selection either you can use SQLDatareader or a Dataset/Datatabel

Hi,
I'm currently developing a web app which has a number of different roles and forms. I've got a javascript dropdown menu that I'm displaying on each page and depending on role and current form want to show different items. As it stands I'm using a StringBuilder in the Page_Load function to build the script and then add it to a Label:

but when I come to view the page the page doesn't appear to load the script. I've checked the page source and the script is definitely in the page and is syntactically the same as I've got it on working pages...
Can anyone shed any light on why this hasn't worked - I'm only assuming it's possible to render script through the Label control into the page??

Did you try RegisterStartupScript or one of the similar Script Emitters?

I've actually just tried to emit it straight in an 'inline' kind of fashion - is it not possible to do this?
I'll have a good for RegisterStartupScript and see what I can find.

Hi all...
I have one gridview on one aspx page with a button on the page. on click of button i want to open one new pdf file window with option open or save. this pdf file should contain my gridview data.
i am not using crystal report as it is not required in my project, this i am referring just for reference as some people suggest to use crystal reports for getting this solution, but i can't use crystal reports here.
please help me out to get this without using any third party / freeware (tool or library). i have to solve it without third party tool etc as customer is stick to not use any extra tool or library.
means how we can do it by code in C# and asp.net 2.0.
if anyone knows please help me as it is required for my current project and is very urgent.

Thanks winnie. i am trying with this but till now not got it working, once it works normaly, then i will try to change it based on my needs.
presently it's throwing lots of error, so i need to correct those errors. hope soon it should work.
