Hmm.... I'm not sure you understand. I'm still trying to make use of a class name in the external assembly, but I'm trying to make use of it in a code-behind page, rather than a compiled class.
Specifically, I have installed an external assembly called SimpleChart, which gives me a file called SimpleChart4.dll.
Then, in a code-behind page I say:
Imports SimpleChart4
which is the name of the namespace, and is the line used in all of their example code. However, it gives me an error, telling me that it doesn't recognize the type.
In theory, if I had the Visual Studio.NET application, I could click on "Add Reference", choose the "COM" tab, and add a reference to the DLL, and then suddenly it should be able to recognize the SimpleChart4 namespace/type.
However, since I do not use the Visual Studio.NET application, I'm wondering how to do this without....

when to use PostBack and when to CallBack.
I understand that,postBack helps avoiding the reloading of some data during page_load or page_initilize events...But, How about CallBack?
With a small code snippet(if possible),Plz explain me.
Thanks a lot.

You can use a PlaceHolder control. On every click of the button event, create a dropdownlist and add it to the PlaceHolder
protected void btnCreateDropDown_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
PlaceHolder phDropdownlist = new PlaceHolder();
DropDownList dropdown = new DropDownList();
dropdown.ID = "SomeName";
dropdown.DataSource = dataset1;
dropdown.DataTextField = "Text";
dropdown.DataValueField = "Value";
dropdown.DataBind();
phDropdownlist.Controls.Add(dropdown);
}

Don`t worry.The page is actually loaded from the cache and the user cannot perform any server side operation unless and until you are checking the cookie on page load of every page.

Thanks for the reply.And how I can get the selected row id.
I tried with the following line but it returns the null value.
msgbox(gridview.rows(0).cells(0).text)
I am using VB Language.

gridview.SelecteIndex for the index or gridview.SelectedRow for the row itself.
But I strongly recommend that you start reading the documentation in the MSDN about the controls you want to use!
--> google --> search for "gridview site:msdn2.microsoft.com"

An array is not a valid datatype for an item in a database. Or do you mean you want to turn all those values into a single array ? Which bit are you stuck on ?

Do you mean SQL Array for temp use in stored procedures etc or scripting/programming array in application? and whats your platform.
for SQL Array : Read following
The ARRAY In SQL Server 2000
[^]
In ASP.NET you can use dataset which will provide you the built in rows array for that column.
Any systematic work reflects its significance for a long time. So let's discuss the best...

DataTable dt = yourdataset.Tables[0];
List<int> ids = new List<int>();
foreach(DataRow row in dt.Rows)
{
ids.Add(((int)row[0]));
}
//Now you have the list of ids from the table.
